Notable Quote: A Lesson For Tax and Spend Democrats?

“…Despots we see, do plunder their subjects, though history and experience tell them that, by prematurely extracting the means of profusion, they are in fact devouring the seed-corn from which the future harvest of revenue is to spring.” -Thomas Babington Macaulay

A new site from ‘Grok friend, John Hawkins – PicaQuote!

John is one of the few independent professional bloggers that I know and his first blog, RightWingNews, was one of the first of the national level blogs that started linking to us when we opened the doors here at GraniteGrok.  He was also a favorite guest on our radio show “Meet The New Press”.  Since … Read more

Blogline of the Day – Professor Paul Rahe

I watched Susan Rice, Obama’s Ambassador to the UN on the Sunday morning shows making a complete asshat of herself by: By even trying to try to make us all believe that some poorly done movie short could be the sole reason for her fellow Ambassador’s assassination (really, what kind of a “protest” comes fully … Read more

Classroom Political Bias in Merrimack New Hampshire

It’s not the first time that reports have reached my ears of obvious political bias in the classrooms of the Merrimack School System.  Tales of Middle School English teachers using their classrooms to promote the “science” of global warming we’re not uncommon, and while annoying not prevalent enough to demand action. The most recent circumstance … Read more

The Newspaper Ad Revenue Collapse

This more or less speaks for itself. Feel free to form up into work groups and report back after lunch. Or you could just lean back in your chair and bask in the glow of alternative media (aka-choices) beating up the dinosaur media like an SEIU thug on a Tea Party Protester.

TMEW and I are very much dog folks

and we have three. Ivan and Kiah are in the pix; just can’t find one with them with Meeka, the newest that is inbetween the two in size. Ivan is 15 years old and we almost lost him about 6 months ago to what appeared to be kidney failure (which is why we got Meeka … Read more

Our government is spinning out of control….

Skip wrote about it yesterday HERE. It’s worth revisiting to see the updated comments. Brownshirts. In the middle off the night. On trumped up charges. With plenty of TV cameras there. This sucks. Our President does too. He is…something other than what a President should be. This is simply disgusting.

Constitution Day 2012

Constitution Day

This Monday, September 17, 2012, marks the 225th anniversary of the US Constitution.  Each year, the United States celebrates Constitution Day (even Constitution Week), when we take time to honor, and to consider the importance of the document that does not give us our rights (as many incorrectly think), but puts words to paper that protect our rights, as well as establishing our remarkable form of government.

Now, many of us actually do take time to study and understand the Constitution, but it is clear that today’s youth do not have a working understanding, much less an appreciation of the document – part of this fault lies with parents, part of it with our schools.

Most people do not realize that any school that accepts federal funds (and let’s acknowledge that most do, these days) must implement some form of Constitution Day program or lesson:

Ask A NH Democrat – About Free Speech

Free Speech FlagA private citizen made a lousy YouTube video about six months ago.  A few days ago islamo-fascists used it as a vehicle to inflame Muslim uprisings.  Under the cover of same, Americans were killed, or in some cases executed.  The Obama Administration’s response to the killings was to send the police out in the dark of night and collect the man they believe responsible for making the video.

Muslims, living in third world arm-pits, are familiar with this strategy.  People disappearing in the night when they have displeased those in power by saying something that has made them look bad.  They do not have free speech.  But we do.  Well, we are supposed to.

So ask a New Hampshire Democrat…

Fall is the time for yard sales…..are you doing one for Obama??

Ugh.  First, the audacity of asking that in lieu of a wedding gift as you and your spouse start your new life together, consider having them just send money to a political campaign (Obama’s).  I know Michelle all wants us to move more and eat less better, but to skip a meal and then send … Read more

Data Point – US Crude Oil Reserves, 1955 – 2010

Er, weren’t we supposed to be running out (Peak Oil theory) instead of increasing (and one of the reasons why Enviro-wackos want to keep us from using more now – “it’s for future generations!“).  It just goes to show that the Malthusians amongst the Enviros never seem to consider the idea of human ingenuity in … Read more

Blue Hampshire Doesn’t Really Understand NH “Citizen Activism”

DC 91209

In a posting dated Monday, September 17, 2012 (the 225th anniversary of the creation of the US Constitution), William Tucker over at Blue Hampshire (or, more accurately, “Boo-Hoo Hamster”), states that “conservative special interest groups successfully targeted GOP lawmakers who failed to toe the ideological line…“.

Good observation, but his title “NH GOP purges moderates” is all wrong.

Calling them “victims of the purge”, and attempting to tie their demise to the nefarious and pointy-tailed Bill O’Brien, Tucker quotes the consistently unbiased Nashua Telegraph reporter, Kevin Landrigan, subtly ginning-up fears of some Koch-Nugent-Sununu-Eastwoodian cabal, secretly operating somewhere in West Virginia, working to eradicate all New Hampshire RINOs, then coming to blast us all back to the horrible 1950’s (when people didn’t lock their doors at night, families could afford to have Mom stay at home if they chose, planning for retirement wasn’t a laugh, we actually had affordable private medical care, and the dollar was worth more than fourteen cents).

Democrats Celebrate Turkish Air Force at Convention

An apology is likely forthcoming, after it is revealed that, like the Soviet Black Sea Navy ships sailing behind the speakers at the Democrat National Convention, the fighter jets pictured above…not US either.  So their tribute the military was essentially…a complete fail.  (#FAIL)

The Daily Caller nails them on this here.  The jets are Turkish F-5 fighters.

You’ve got to hand it to the Democrats though.  Had complete control of the government for two years.  They still control most of it with the Democrat Controlled Senate still blocking anything and everything that might embarrass Obama.  Their candidate for President is the current commander and chief for the US military, and always the Smartest Guy In The Room™ ,but they still can’t manage to use photos of actual US military hardware in their convention for his re-election.

It’s priceless.

In case you forgot, the picture is on the jump…

There is no Forward with Obama (c/o A Notable Quote – John C. Calhoun)

“..as individuals differ greatly from each other, in intelligence, sagacity, energy, perseverance, skills, habits of industry and economy, physical power, position and opportunity,–the necessary effect of leaving all free to exert themselves to better their condition, must be a corresponding inequality between those who may possess these qualities and advantages in a higher degree, and … Read more

Democrats….

Here's a whole book on the subject....

Now that the New Hampshire primaries are over, and the opposing sides have shaken out, I have a couple or three observations about the Democratic Party and the people in it.

After watching their Presidential campaign ads, watching much of their national convention, and studying the faces and words of those people, I have to say that these people are not the Democrats of yesterday….
