Now the Bishop Wants Your Guns

Manchester Bishop wants your gunsBy Jim Kofalt

Several days ago we reported on Bishop Peter Labasci’s appeal for Catholics to call Congress to ask for amnesty for illegal aliens and the continuation of chain migration policies (because it’s your duty as a Christian, he says).

Now the Diocese of Manchester is joining the call for gun control:

NH Bishop Pushes Amnesty & Chain Migration

By Jim Kofalt

Last weekend, Catholic priests throughout the state of New Hampshire were ordered by Bishop Peter Labasci to read a letter to parishioners at all Masses.  The letter urged Catholics to call Congress and lobby for a “solution” to protect the beneficiaries of DACA from deportation and “unnecessary anxiety.”  The letter was accompanied by several handouts prepared by the US Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), which included talking points that outlined the proposed solution.

The talking points include statements like “I know that families are not ‘chains’” and explicitly call for “a path to citizenship”.  (In other words, amnesty.)

What happened to the scientific method?

Windham School DIstrictBy Lynn Murray

As a mother of five children I am deeply disturbed by the actions of the Windham School Board.

I attended public schools as a child. I learned there were reasons for everything we were taught. Everything we learned had a foundation based on logic and reasoning. Everything.

We learned English. We learned about proper nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, etc. We learned through our English lessons how to address people using their proper nouns and pronouns. We learned Math. Addition and subtraction. That 2 + 2 = 4. That 4 – 2 = 2. We learned algebra, geometry, trigonometry and calculus. We applied math to learn Science. We learned about gravity and how it pulls objects towards the center of the earth. Why apples drop from trees, why our feet stay on the ground, and the moon circles around the earth, and the earth around the sun. We learned Einstein’s theory of relativity; E = MC2. We learned Biology. About cells, hormones and organs. That boys have XY chromosomes and girls have XX chromosomes. And the importance of biological differences between boy parts and girl parts. It was science. It was based on fact. It was irrefutable. Until now.

Now our children are taught that “feelings” are reality. Feelings are a basis to arrive at a scientific conclusion. If a boy feels like (“identifies” as) a girl, then he is a she. That “logic” is being forced down our (and our children’s) throats as irrefutable. And we’re paying for it!!!

Tyranny returns to the Windham School Board

By Tony Massahos

…we need re-elect Tom Murray to the Windham School Board.

The recent decision by the Windham School Board to ignore their Policy BGB and bypass the proper process to accept public input before passing Transgender Locker Room Policy JBAB reminds me of the arrogance by the Windham School Board prior to when Mr. Tom Murray was elected.

Making such a serious decision that VIOLATES PARENTAL RIGHTS and injects ANTI-CHRISTIAN RADICAL LIBERAL IDEOLOGIES into our school system to INDOCTRINATE OUR CHILDREN, speaks volumes regarding the TYRANNICAL POWER THAT IS BEING EXERTED BY OUR SCHOOL BOARD onto our precious and impressionable children.

Shame on Dennis Senibaldi, Keleigh McAllister, Rob Breton and Daniel Popovici-Muller for violating the Constitutional Rights of parents and their children they swore to uphold.

Gun Control, Mental Health, And …

Inspiration, sun, clouds, treeBy NH House Rep. Josh Moore

We all felt the pain of the families who lost their loved ones in that horrific event in Parkland, FL on Valentine’s Day. I think we can all agree that we never wanted that to happen and we want to do all we can to make sure it never happens again.

Many solutions have been suggested and discussed. Some have been talked about before while others seem relatively new; such as arming teachers or hiring our nation’s veterans to protect our children.

Gun control, mental health, and law enforcement have all been hot topics for the last two weeks. But Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin is the only one I have heard talk about (that taboo topic) family values.

A Great Day at the New Hampshire House

NH House - state house

By NH State Rep. John Burt

Thursday 2-22-2018 was a great day at the NH State House.

One year ago today Constitutional Carry was signed by Governor Chris Sununu. That is me hugging the Governor.

If Gramma is late on her property taxes her interest reduction bill just passed the House. The committee vote to kill the bill was 23 to ZERO. Kevin J. ScullyDavid Bates, Dan Eaton and I overturned the committee and passed the bill.

Who Ordered the Removal of these Signs In Milton, NH?

Clean sweepBy Les Elder

If anyone knows who had these signs made, they can be placed on private property, and I know people that want them.

But per RSA 664:14 and 664:17 all political advertisements must include identification and signature of the person posting the sign on public property or a State or Town Right of Way. If this information is missing the signs will be removed by the Milton Public Works Department in accordance with State Law.

One could argue that the signs are not political, but an expression of free speech.!

Op-Ed: On the Florida Shooting

Nikolas CruzBy NH State Rep. Norm Silber

For about 40 years before becoming a permanent resident of Gilford, I lived and practiced law in the Miami area, so I have some significant familiarity with Florida law.

The recent Parkland school shooting has produced a lot of discussion about how and why it happened and how a similar event in the future could be prevented.  However, much of the discussion and calls for “action” have missed many important facts, distinct from the emotions of the moment.

Tell your Senator NO on Assisted Suicide

Senate Bill 490’s title says it’s about studying end of life choices. The testimony of the chief sponsor, Sen. Martha Hennessey, said something else: the bill is a step toward bringing an assisted suicide law to New Hampshire.

Read Cornerstone’s full statement about SB 490. The Senate will be voting on SB 490 on February 22. Your senator needs to hear from you! SB 490 should be “inexpedient to legislate.”

Why I vote the way I do

ConservativesBy Norm Silber

As a member of the New Hampshire House of Representative and Chair of the Town of Gilford Budget Committee, I am sometimes asked for justification or criticized for my position and votes on various issues before the NH House, the Belknap County Delegation, and the Gilford Budget Committee. Imitation being the sincerest form of flattery, I could hardly have said it any better than it was said in 1960.

“I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size.

HB 628: Coos County Reps Vote to Tax Your Income.

taxesBy Kevin Craig

I am dismayed that the entire Coös County delegation, both Democrat, and Republican, voted for an income tax on all non-public employees, via House Bill 628, the “Family Medical Leave Insurance” bill. The only exceptions were Robert Theberge, who voted nay, Bing Judd, who didn’t vote, and Edith Tucker, who was excused.

Supporters deny that it is an income tax, but it literally requires that employers collect and remit a percentage of employees’ wages: that is the very definition of an income tax.

In New Hampshire, Only the Illusion of GOP Control of State Government

GOP Marionette

By Ed Mosca

On paper, the GOP controls every branch of State government in New Hampshire except the judiciary. But the reality is that in the aggregate the State has moved leftward despite nominal GOP control of the political branches.

I discussed how Governor Sununu has moved the State leftward in this post, but there is plenty of blame (or if you like the idea of New Hampshire moving leftward – credit) to go around.

Who is Behind This “Anonymous” Flyer in Opposition to SB193?

Illegal SB 193 Flyer -2

By Jim Kofalt

New Hampshire law states that “political advertising” must be signed. In other words, if you are distributing materials that advocate for the success or defeat of a candidate or a particular measure, you need to state clearly and legibly who paid for it.

In early January, an unsigned flyer showed up in some mailboxes around our district making the specious claim that New Hampshire’s current school choice bill (SB193) “drains $3600.00 per pupil from the State education budget.”

Ironically, the headline on the flyer was “Say NO to Property Tax Increase.”

More Flaws In HB 628 – The Program is Built to Fail, or Was That the Point?

HB 628 Its an income tax - butler serving betterBy Len Turcotte (Adapted from a letter to the chair of the Commerce Subcommittee on HB628)

I met with Richard Lavers (Department of Employment Security) briefly on Wednesday of this week to discuss the spreadsheets he handed out at the Commerce Committee hearing on January 16th (I am currently awaiting further updates). My questions were focused on the assumptions/estimates he utilized in creating the spreadsheets. As you will recall from Lavers’ testimony, my testimony, and multiple statements contained in the two handouts by the Carsey Institute’s Smith, and Institute for Women’s Policy Research Jeffery Hayes, there exists ZERO data regarding “opt-out, opt-in” FMLI programs since no State has ever attempted them.

My questions for Mr. Lavers:
