In just one day, we have two prime examples of how vitally important our Second Amendment is.

Protecting our natural rights to secure arms for personal or family defense, and to fight tyranny of any kind, the Second Amendment must be treasured and guarded with everything we have.  If not, we’ll just become victims, like the people in these examples…

Why We Need our Second Amendment: Example #1 – The UN in Haiti

Today, UN troops in Haiti (who have been there in force since 2004) fired on unarmed civilians as they were protesting.

By now, Haitians have had enough of the UN occupying their country.  In 2010, about 10 months after the devastating Earthquake that shook the island (which increased the UN presence), Haiti fell victim to a serious Cholera outbreak, which continues today.  Haitians speculate that the outbreak started when UN troops allowed their sewage to flow into the island’s largest river.  Many of these undisciplined troops were new arrivals to Haiti, fresh off a mission in Nepal, working to contain (of all things) a Cholera outbreak.

Ironically, the left-leaning, Democrat-fawning publication The New Republic squarely blames the UN in this article and chastises the Obama administration for interfering with legal proceedings against the UN, after the President insisted that they “enjoy absolute immunity” from such suits.  Go figure.

John Shepardson of Wilton New Hampshire, can be seen here standing behind Jared Steven Cram (the guy front and left).  Cram, for those unfamiliar, takes the Democrat maxim ‘vote early and often’ to heart.  Shepardson (in the orange hat) is a building inspector, but clearly not good at inspecting much else.  He continues to stand behind Cram even now despite overwhelming evidence that Jared is in deep, hot water with the law.

No, not the law in New Hampshire.  In New Hampshire they’ve decided to tread the well-worn and predictable path; when confronted with potential acts of vote fraud.  Hide, obfuscate, or just declare there is nothing to see.

The problem with interstate vote fraud is that it involves two states.

One of the first things President Obama did in 2009 was sign an executive order to allow full government funding of any and all embryonic stem cell research.  At the time, newly elected Senator Jeanne Shaheen remarked of the event that…

For the millions of patients and families impacted by conditions such as diabetes, Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis, and spinal cord injuries, among many others, there is now greater hope for breakthrough treatments and even cures.

We have been warning the Republican (voters) about its RINO infestation for some time now.  We said they needed to be dealt with.  They were not and now we’ve got RINOTOPIA.  But look on the bright side, we can blame Democrats for all of it – they elected Shawn J’ass’per, so no matter what he does, it’s their fault.

So about that RINOTOPIA.

Democrat elected speaker of the NH House Shawn Ja’ss’per didn’t just line them up in parade formation for us, he put them in charge of committees where they’d be easier to see, and hear, and yes–ridicule.  Not all of them but quite a few, and we’ve got a list.

H/T to Bob Clegg for posting a link (on Facebook) to an October 28th NH State Supreme Court decision regarding (2013-0690, Appeal of Professional Fire Fighters of Hudson, IAFF Local 3154 ).

Hudson stopped voluntarily providing step increases for fire fighters outside a collective bargaining agreement and the Union took issue.  An arbitrator determined that the Town had to pay, but the town chose to ignore this.  The union cried foul and called in the New Hampshire Public Employee Labor Relations Board (PELRB) who, after reviewing the law and the case, decided in favor of the Town of Hudson.

The case found its way the NH State Supreme Court and they have ruled on the dispute.

The bigger court news (as opposed to my previous post) is today’s decision in every union v. New Hampshire or (2013-0669, Professional Fire Fighters of New Hampshire & a. v. State of New Hampshire & a.) regarding the desire to ask public employees to pay more of their own retirement benefits.

 On appeal, the State argues, among other things, that the trial court erred by ruling that NHRS members have a contractual right to a fixed contribution rate. We agree.

The legislature changed the contribution rates.  The unions argued that the change was unconstitutional.  There are many layers to the case and the arguments on both sides are worth reading (if that’s how you roll),  but according to these justices contractual rights did not exist and constitutions were not violated.
