Female Student Gets One Year in Jail For False Rape Accusation
In early May we reported on a case in which Nikki Yovino was on trial for falsely accusing two Sacred Heart University Football Players of rape. The male students had their scholarships dropped effectively expelling them, the College taking Yovino’s claim as gospel without an actual investigation.
Police eventually determined that she lied and if found guilty could serve up to six years in jail. Yovino has copped a plea that would reduce that to one year.

Statement of Facts:
New Hampshire has a practice of allowing citizens of other states to vote in New Hampshire during our General Elections, which includes elections for Federal office. This practice has increased in volume since the adoption of same-day registration in 1996. Any person, from any state, who has attained the age of 18 can simply show proof identity to register to vote in New Hampshire, including a current, valid, out-of-state driver’s license. The registrant simply signs an affidavit as per RSA 654:12. It is known as a: QUALIFIED VOTER AFFIDAVIT.
The Attorney General’s Office, Elections Division, is tasked with enforcing election laws as per RSA 7:6 c. This office may prosecute – at its discretion.
There has been a decade’s old state of confusion regarding the terms “domicile” and “resident” which has been the source of several lawsuits regarding out-of-state college voters and transient campaign workers who choose to vote in New Hampshire instead of their legal residence in their home state.

Last week some Democrat stooge was on the radio badmouthing Governor Sununu on the economy and workers and families and wages (insert dancing donkey in a top hat), but she did it without actually saying anything. It was all empty rhetoric. Palm card pablum.
Yes, I have plenty of issues with Chris Sununu’s “priorities.” I have problems with State Republican Leadership’s priorities. But for all the goofy things they focused on this past Session they managed to not get in the way of the State’s economy.

Vermont Sets aside One Million in ‘Bribes’ to Attract New Residents
The People running the People’s Republic of Vermont (into the ground) have decided to offer 10,000.00 dollar bribes to the first 100 people who qualify for what they are calling a Remote-Worker Grant Program. To get the cash incentive you have to move yourself and your remote-work job to the Green Mountain State, (and then pay taxes, backstop socialized medicine and other rising welfare costs, along with increasing unfriendly policies towards natural rights including speech, property, and self-defense).
I think they left (most of that) out of the brochure.
U.S. Senate August Recess Cancelled – Democrat Obstruction Blamed
The party of progress just got their summer vacation canceled due to their all-out effort to prevent progress.
Senators will receive “a state work period” the first full week of August, but must come back to D.C. after that.
This is bad news for the incumbent Democrat senators since they will not have the ability to campaign during the month. Democrats have 26 seats up for re-election in November along with independent seats in Maine and Vermont, both belonging to senators who caucus with the Democrats.

On Two Recent Court Decisions That Deal with ‘In God We Trust’ On U.S. Currency
Two cases came down last week in separate circuit courts on the subject of the motto ‘In God We Trust’ as presented in various forms of US currency.
On May 28th, the 6th Circuit ruled that “In God We Trust” on US currency was not a burden to plaintiffs under the Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 1993 and dismissed their case. If you like to get into the weeds the decision makes for interesting reading.
The court’s examination could also be useful to Gov. Sununu as he prepares to sign trans legislation that could place an unreasonable burden on free speech, association, and possibly burden business owners in a way that could force the state into a lengthy legal challenge that is entirely unnecessary.

Exeter NH Police Chief Arrests Resident for Social Media Comment
In a story that went wide yesterday, Exeter Police Chief William Shupe had Robert Frese arrested for an online comment in which he said: “Chief Shupe covered up for a dirty cop.”
I may have my differences with the NH ACLU, but we’ve consistently agreed on one thing. Free Speech. Shupe is a public official. As such he is subject to the broadest possible interpretation of the first amendment. But rather than dismiss the banter the Chief had the accused arrested for violating the state’s defamation law.
Eric Holder Flips on Out-Of-State Student License and Vehicle Registration Comments.
From the Concord Monitor. Mr. Holder Clarifies his clarification.
“My comments were intended to support the right of domiciled students to vote in the state of New Hampshire as long as they comply with existing law,” Holder said. “In no way should they be viewed as supporting any proposal that would make it harder for students to exercise their right to join in the Granite State’s electoral process.”
We reported yesterday on the original clarification in which he stated that Student’s should register cars in the Granite State and get a New Hampshire license. He has now backtracked to the State Demo Party Default answer that this is bad.
New Hampshire’s New Era – Send Us Your Corporate Rent-Seekers!
On May 31st, Gov. Sununu signed into law (along with 41 other bills) SB 564, an act introducing corporate rent seeking for special tax favors in the Granite State.
No, that’s not the actual title, but that’s what it does. It opens a new door to a new era into which lobbyists may stick their foot and their deep pockets to promote special tax treatment for their benefactors.
Concord is now no better than Washington, DC.
Too Bad Frank Edelblut Won’t Run For Governor This Year…

In 2016 Mr. Sununu barely survived a primary win against Frank Edelblut. Gov. Sununu offered a job as the state commissioner of Education to Frank, and he may be the best one we’ve had in decades. So we can give Chris credit for listening when someone tells him what might be a smart move for him politically.
That’s important because Frank doesn’t strike me as the sort of guy who would undercut his “boss” in that circumstance so I don’t see him accepting any offer or encouragement to primary Governor Sununu in 2018. But if Chris Sununu signs HB1319, Frank would win easily.
There’s a message in that reality. Here’s another one.
