GrokSHOT! – Gilford School Board’s Kurt Webber bemoans kids get summer vacation

…that ruins kids’ mandatory test scores because of that “education gap”.  Instead, Kurt Webber  wants the Gilford School Board to change from the old style “agrarian” schedule. Er, I beseeched the Board to go way past that – and “progress forward” (heh!) from the “Progressive Factory Educational model (which we have today)! Previous video GrokSHOT! – … Read more

So much for the vaunted Fourth Estate, eh?

Certainly at the national level, especially in Washington, DC, we see journalists too concerned with access to the powerful instead of fulfilling the reason why they have a mention in the First Amendment – a free press – which was to enable them to ride herd on government outside of government itself: “Here in the … Read more

Data Point – Obama’s legacy of unemployment: 1 in 6 adult males out of work

10 Million-Men-In-Prime-Working-Years-Are-Simply-Not-Working This is like the inflation rate – it seems stable but since the Federal government removed gas prices and food prices, it presents a picture to ordinary Americans that things are better than what they really are. A true measure of unemployment is not the U3 rate but the U6 rate with includes … Read more

This HAD to have given William Tucker a heart attack: New Orleans now only has charter schools

SchoolhouseThat’s right – recently appointed to the NH Board of Education,  William Tucker is one of those that seemingly believes that only Government schools manned by union teachers should be the ONLY form of education for our children.  After all, we’ve seen such stunning scholastic successes with this 140 year way of doing business – educational factories turning out cogs for Society’s machine of life.  Simply, churn out that workforce.  ‘Cept in too many cases, neither Johnny or Mary can read, write, or do math (but can spout the current PC nonsense of diversity and social justice, thanks to the Bill Ayers radicals teaching the teachers, ayup). So news that there are no longer any public schools in New Orleans and that it is working, must be shaking Tucker to the core (emphasis mine and reformatted):

In New Orleans, major school district closes traditional public schools for good

…With the start of the next school year, the Recovery School District will be the first in the country made up completely of public charter schools, a milestone for New Orleans and a grand experiment in urban education for the nation.

…It has been two decades since the first public charter school opened in Minnesota, conceived as a laboratory where innovations could be tested before their introduction into public schools. Now, 42 states encourage charters as an alternative to conventional schools, and enrollment has been growing, particularly in cities. In the District of Columbia, 44 percent of the city’s students attend charter schools.   But in New Orleans, under the Recovery School District, the Louisiana state agency that seized control of almost all public schools after Hurricane Katrina ravaged the city in 2005, the traditional system has been swept away.

They realized that what was the norm was also what was not working – the traditional model that has, in my mind, outlived its usefulness.  Except for

NH GOP Annual Meeting – Ruminations: NH State Senate President Chuck Morse

Another speaker was the NH State Senate Republican Incumbency Protection and Racketeering Act that will make it even harder and more convoluted  for the ordinary citizen(s) to speak their minds politically without The State smashing down upon them).  Certainly, he tried to make the case that the NH State Republicans upheld the best and greatest traditions of Republicanism.  Well, I hate to rain down upon the parade (gee, finally get to flip circumstances as it usually is politicians raining down upon us ordinary schlubs and the color ain’t transparent) but I’ve already listed the TWO (not one but TWO!) obvious actions that are the exact opposite of those Planks in the Platform.  That also contravene both the letter and the spirit of the NH Constitution.  This is not just me being a TEA Party, Constitutional loving extremist – it is being an ordinary citizen, reading our Foundational Law’s plain language and going WTF??  To remind you, here’s his speech and I’ve done a full transcript after the jump (of course, with commentary):

Data Point – States by their iconic restaurant chains

A different way to look at the states – being known by the restaurant chains that best “demonstrates” your state: I’ve eaten at NH based Moe’s several times (at their “home” shop in Rochester) – their signature sandwich, the Italian, is scrumptious! (H/T: IJReview)

Do our new West Point military leaders prefer the man of the Left or the man of the [moderate] Right?

Let your ears and eyes be the judge of how our West Point cadets react:    President Obama                                      President Bush Personally, I think that Obama despises the US Military; combining the natural disdain show by the New Left as our military is a sign of US might with that of the hatred of “Western colonialism” … Read more

It is always the NRA’s fault…

During the Iraq war, it was “Halliburton!”.  Now, with the Left trying to invalidate the Second Amendment, it is “NRA!” as they try to use the euphemism of “gun violence to disarm the American population. Sidenote: violence is violence.  Violence is not created by, not perpetuated by, hunks of metal and plastic.  Or for that matter, ropes, chemicals, bathtubs, … Read more

This ad IS about Jeanne Shaheen – from the Concerned Veterans for America (CVA)

“Will Jeanne Shaheen fight for VA accountability?“ Steve has the Club for Growth ad about US Senator Mark Pryor (D-AR) here.  I agree; same schtick, same pod, same Koch Brothers money.  But here’s one from the Concerned Veterans of America concerning the ongoing Veterans Administration scandal on how badly they have treated those that put their … Read more

University of Maryland – they be American history scholars, eh?

Heck, after the videos that keep coming my way, I might be overjoyed if I saw “have clues” instead of straight up clueless!  I watched this magnificent display of American history by some of our finest students (er, they ARE in college, right?)  and just cringed.  What’s worse, this doesn’t seem to bother these ‘college attendees” all that … Read more

‘Harder to end wars than it is to begin them’

“…end wars…”. Gee, and I thought the whole idea was to WIN wars.  Anything else is just “first loser” and in a two-way battle, just loser.  Americans were known for WINing wars, not just giving up which is exactly what Obama is doing.  We beat both Japan and Germany militarily – and then stayed for decades until the “end” WAS the “end”.

“…end wars…”.  That is what President Obama said today in relationship to the Afghanistan theater of war.  Essentially, he is doing what Nixon did in 1968:  “I pledge to you that we shall have an honorable end to the war in Vietnam.”  Yeah, that worked out EVAH so well for the South Vietnamese, Cambodians,  and Laotians, eh?  Buttery smooth words, a bit of smoke and mirrors, and then we all understood what honorable meant: we retreat, we give up and two million people lost their lives.

“…end wars…”.  General Giap knew what the winning prescription was: break the will of the American people to wage war.  He knew that North Vietnam could never do that on its own (even with Russian and Chinese help) so he did it with an information / PR war.  He (along with Putin comrades) instigated the peace movement, agitated the college aged, got the protests going, influenced the media – and PRESTO!

The difference is tactics vs policy? Only in YOUR fantasy world!

Gadsden FlagTactics vs policy – a meme that has been floating around this primary season as various politicos and talking heads try to rationalize the difference between the Establishment and the TEA Party wings of the Republican Party.  It is their attempt to try to soften or blur what is a rather sharp edge between the two.  After all, now that the primaries are over (in some states), we hear the upper echelon of the Party already trying to do the smooch up of the grass roots and play that old Beatles song “(“Come together – RIGHT NOW!“, emphasis on the last two) over and over and over again.  Exhibit one here for a NH example (with more coming).  We all have to be UNITED!  We all have to be TOGETHER!  We all have to STAND together!  United we are stronger!  We must be an ARMY!  How Collectivist is that?  I dunno if I’m in a Right side organization or a union meeting.

Ben Domenech has a newsletter (note to self: get signed up!) that talks about that it is NOT TACTICS that separates the Establishment from the base – funny, but with a sharp knife to it.   First up, the Establishment:

“Let’s do immigration reform, we should be honest about addressing climate change, (pick your entitlement) mend it don’t end it, let’s find state level solutions to make (Obamacare’s) Medicaid (expansion) work for working families, let’s show we love the poor by giving them something (but don’t worry not your something), let’s not be so lockstep on gun violence, premium support, capital gains, let’s protect our critical Pentagon budget, let’s invest in our future with Common Core, you know TARP made sense at the time, let’s build needed infrastructure we can be proud of, compassion, even Ronald Reagan…”

Now the TEA Party:
