NH Executive Council deliberations on Bill Duncan’s nomination for NH Board of Education

Last week, uber-Govt School booster Bill Duncan was nominated to the NH Board of Education by Gov. Maggie Hassan.  He has made it quite clear over the years that ANY attempt to replace (even if just a wee smidgen) the size, reach, and entitlement to taxpayer monies from Government public schools must be forbidden and stopped.  He is the sponsor of a lawsuit to stop the program (already approved by the NH Legislature) that gave low income students the ability to leave failing (mostly government schools) and the freedom to choose a school that would be better for that child.  In essence, the first glimpse of The State finally yielding back education control back to where it should belong – the parents.  I have oft said that children do NOT deserve a public education – but they DO deserve public funding of their education.  Parents want to choose the govt school?  Fine.  The one in the next town?  Great.  Charter school, online school, home school?  Let the parents decide!

Duncan has made it clear that the only freedom he wishes to allow is the freedom for the Government schools (and, therefore, the teachers unions) to continue to be the only recipients of tax payer funded education monies – no freedom for you!  Think of it – Duncan has already made your school choice for you – and he knows better than you do what is best for your kids with your money.

New NH Executive Councilor Joe Kenney does an excellent job in making the case of why Duncan is not suitable for the BoE because of his partisanship and one-size-fits all outlook.  Exec. Councilor Chris Sununu also added in a voice saying no.

But when the video was done, you will see that Duncan was approved by a party line vote.
