As I mentioned here, Lance Gilliam (a Partner at the Waterman-Steele Group, a real estate and PR firm in Houston and internationally) who is the head of the Houston Housing Authority  contacted me about my post on an impending use of eminent domain in Houston’s Fifth Ward that would also “take out” a couple of churches. My original interest was that lesbian Houston Mayor Annise Parker was so upset with pastors rising up against her HERO ordinance (“yes, we will let men into the ladies bathrooms; stop complaining!) that she issued subpoenas against them demanding their sermons, all correspondence and communications, and the like if they discussed any aspect of homosexuality.  In essense, Government was all too willing to censor the Free Expression of religion, contra the First Amendment.  She lost the court suit and now it has to go to the ballot. His message was that Parker’s actions are not connected to his even if churches are involved.

So with that as a background, in steps Lance Gilliam.  During our conversation he tried to make equivalence between he and it on politics to a degree.  I’ve given him the chance to write a rebuttal and invited him to be on GrokTALK! – thus far I have not heard back.  So, I decided to do a bit of looking around – are we the same?  Here’s some snippets (one is above)

That is the question asked at Townhall on yet again, Senate Majority Mitch McConnell puts morality behind a government shut down in priorities of DC.  Or to put it another way – is this yet another battle that the Republican elite, that much of the base cares deeply about, will runaway from?

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell strongly implied yesterday that he wouldn’t push to defund Planned Parenthood in the September appropriations negotiations. McConnell seemed to express fears that such a fight could backfire on public perception of Republicans, particularly if it led to the threat of a government shutdown:

“We’ve been down this path before,” McConnell said. “This is a tactic that has been tried going back to the ’90s and it always has the same ending — that the focus is on the government shutdown and not on the underlying issue that is being protested.  We are not doing government shutdowns and we are not threatening to default on the national debt.”

This is HIGHLY disturbing – and very much illustrates that Obama’s words of “a proud citizen of the United States, and a fellow citizen of the world“. What does it say about being a proud citizen of the United States when HE can’t hold his own to his fellow Dems in Congress and has to bring in our historical enemies to “vouch” for him.  Anyone else see this as absolute insanity as well as proving him to be not just a Post-Constitutionalist but a Post-American as well? Reformatted, emphasis mine:

Nothing says the Iran nuclear deal is great for America like sending Chinese and Russian lobbyists to convince Democrats to vote for it.

Some of Washington’s less reliable partners are worried too: Top diplomats from Russia and China joined a rare meeting of world powers’ envoys on Capitol Hill this week with roughly 30 Senate Democrats to tamp down concerns over the nuclear agreement.

When ELSE have you ever heard of this?  Trust me, the Chinese and Russians do NOT have America’s best interests in mind.

Really – a “Grassroots” type of organization?  When I see or hear that, I think just ordinary Joes and Janes that just decide, a la De Tocqueville, that something has to be done and grabs a bunch of other voluntary folks like them in an ad hoc fashion to make it happen.

Umm, when you read WHO is behind this, are we seeing yet another bending of the common language so as to tip its definition upside down.

There is no War on Women – at least here in the US (look to the Muslim countries to see how .  But politicians on the Left side of the aisle, especially as one grows more and more Socialist, they are much more apt to distort the language – it is what they do to hide their true intent.  After all, who ever thought that she’d she’d try to “nationalize” the hospitals in the State (re: MaggiCare) by “other words”?

Certainly ole’ Bernie is tapping into something on the hard Left – proving what a lot of us on the Right have been saying for a while: the center of the Democrat Party is now outright Socialist.  And step by step, over the decades, they have been using the Law & Regulation stick to transform us into that utopia of theirs and away from our Constitutional roots. And another whack – I blame the Republican Party for not standing up and fighting hard enough to stop them.  But anyways, here’s what he said Sunday’s This Week with George Stephanopoulus and immediately saw the incoherence:

Absolutely we need a path to citizenship for undocumented workers. We need to take people out of the shadows.  What my consern is then was, and remains, is with these guest worker programs which you are reading about where you have folks in high tech industries getting fired while corporations are bringing in people from Russia and other countries into the United States to replace American workers to drive wages down.

My takeaways:

• So, he is willing to reward those that have broke our laws from the get go.  Socialist governments break their own laws all the time when the end justifies the means.  Any even cursory of such countries can show how this develops – and how it ends (have you been watching Venezuela lately?).

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) says he will not allow a government shutdown this fall and has pledged to begin talks “at some point.”  McConnell on Tuesday said he is willing to negotiate with Democrats to solve the funding impasse, after refusing for weeks to participate in the budget summit they have been calling for.

“Let me say it again, no more government shutdowns,” he told reporters.  He added that he would find a way forward “through negotiations.”

Right.  He has already waved his white flag in name of the Republican Party.

Yes, this tends to be a vocation with me lately – pointing out the why of the Republican officials, candidates, and Party are not all that welcome with a lot of Republican folks in the base.  And it is ALL self-induced!  Don’t do what you have promised, for years?  Decisions have consequences and with the New Media, there are MANY more eyes watching a whole lot more people and a whole lot conversations thanks to the ‘Net.  Repair_Man_Jack at RedState has another slant on the Donald phenomena: arbitrage (reformatted, emphasis mine):

On Meet The Press this past Sunday, host Chuck Todd asked GOP Chair Reince Prebus about rumors that The Donald might skip out and run as a thir party candidate:

 If you are going to run for the nomination of our private organization which is the Republican Party that it only makes sense that you at #1 agree the Republican would be better than a Democrat running on the other side and that you wouldn’t run as a third Party because I think a third party, at least a serious one on either side of the aisle, would be a death wish to both parties.

This is why I feel so strongly about the First Amendment. I believe the First Amendment is now under attack. Recently Hillary Clinton gave a speech in which she insinuated, repeatedly, that many religious beliefs are outmoded because these beliefs are contrary to many objectives of her agenda.  Accordingly, she suggested that government will need to force religious leaders to change these ancient teachings to fit modern laws. Hillary is suggesting that, as president, she would use force to repress religious teachings and practice.

…This is no better than the offer the Communists gave us. Asking the insurance company to pay means arranging for something which they believe is morally forbidden. We don’t need to accept this.

Catholic Diocese in North Dakota Severs All Ties With Boy Scouts Over Gay Adult Troop Leaders

The Catholic Diocese of Bismark, North Dakota, is “formally” severing its churches, schools, and other institutions from the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) because of the latter’s decision to allow openly homosexual adults and employees to work in the Boy Scouts.  The BSA’s executive committee voted to lift its century-old national restriction on “openly gay adult leaders and employees” on July 27.  The Catholic Diocese of Bismark, headed by Bishop David Kagan moved swiftly to disassociate itself from the now pro-gay BSA.

I am quite sure that there will be those that will label this as straight up bigotry, believing that “progress & dignity” should trump deeply held religious beliefs.
