From The Hill:
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) says he will not allow a government shutdown this fall and has pledged to begin talks “at some point.” McConnell on Tuesday said he is willing to negotiate with Democrats to solve the funding impasse, after refusing for weeks to participate in the budget summit they have been calling for.
“Let me say it again, no more government shutdowns,” he told reporters. He added that he would find a way forward “through negotiations.”
Right. He has already waved his white flag in name of the Republican Party. Once again, run away from Principle to be able to fight run away again.
They promised to fight for our Principles. They promised action. They promised results. They promised to stop Obama – no matter the cost. When you have actively declared that the worse penalty is off the table, well, that’s like when when you were a kid, dumping your lunch box in front of you, and then telling the bullies “let’s negotiate”. McConnell has just said that in order to not shutdown he will negotiate. Which requires, at the “far end”, he’s given up any leverage at all – he will have to agree to the worst of the Democrat demands because he just threw away his hammer.
This is not “negotiating”; this is “advance capitulation” when you signal far in advance that you have no fight in you.
Sorry kid, we’re taking it all. After all, you just gave us everything we wanted. And that is what the Democrats must be saying about the negotiations.j
Sorry, we got sold a bill of goods. Counterfeit ones. Remind me again, why did we vote for Republicans?
