These are part of our highest level of lawmakers – the Congressional Black Caucus.  One would expect that they would take the time to do what we pay them for – read the bills before voting on them.  Fat chance of that happening if you have EVER read their remarks concerning one bill or another – some are simply clueless about them or on other things (like Congressman Hank “we’ll tip over Guam if we put more troops there” Johnson) like this (reformatted, emphasis mine):

Members of the Congressional Black Caucus on Monday called the grand jury decision not to indict Ferguson Police Officer Darren Wilson a “slap in the face” for those seeking justice for the death of Michael Brown.  “The Ferguson grand jury’s decision not to indict Officer Darren Wilson in the death of Michael Brown is a miscarriage of justice,” CBC Chair Marcia Fudge (D-Ohio) said in a statement released after the decision was announced late Monday evening in Missouri. “It is a slap in the face to Americans nationwide who continue to hope and believe that justice will prevail.”

The evidence given to the grand jury in Ferguson was just released today and somewhere I have bookmarked a post that says 60 witnesses and 4,900+ pages of testimony.  To my knowledge, there is no mechanism that automatically sends such evidence to black CongressCritters in cases where other blacks die in confrontations with whites (regardless of the circumstances) ahead of decisions.

This is very disturbing that clergy and churches agree to turn from preaching the Gospel to a more “social gospel” and now under the Government thumb leaning on the “sermon scale”, agreeing to sermonize about GAIA worship – simply to avoid taxes.  A modern tale of selfishness and self-justification?  Is this the nose of Government pushing its way under the Church’s tent side?  And especially in today’s political climate (in which the political infuses into almost every nook and cranny, thanks to Progressives – reformatted, emphasis mine; more background after the jump):

Churches in a Maryland county are being offered tax breaks for incorporating environmentalism into their sermons.

In Prince George’s County, 30 pastors have started preaching ‘green’ ministries to avoid extra taxes, the Washington Post reports.  The taxes depend on the acreage for all property owners, including churches, as part of Maryland’s “storm water remediation fee.”  Reverend Nathaniel B. Thomas of Forestville New Redeemer Baptist Church said he attempted to challenge the fee and said:  “Once Uncle Sam finds a way to take your money, he doesn’t stop.”

Mostly because those behind that “way” believe it was always theirs to begin with – even that belonging to God.

Thomas acknowledged the people of his congregation have higher priorities than the environment, such as employment and family-related issues: “I know I’m not going to get a lot of ‘amens’ today,” adding, “The question is, are we taking care of what God has blessed us with?”  Thomas also voiced his support for environmental consciousness: “What God made was good, but it’s us that made it bad.”

Right – but it needed that Government to threaten you before you “evolved”?  That you had to look the “opportunity” square in the eyes (of the Tax Collector) and your hand on your collection plate to realize that you had “strayed from your First Calling”?

Well, what will happen now in Ferguson?  I predict there will be rioting all over.  Just in watching the press conference, there were already questions whose main premise was “What, no justice for this black boy” with shades of “white power”?

The only justice these people were seeking had already been predetermined months ago, sans evidence.  Given the level of planning by professional agitators (make no mistake, while there are those truly concerning with this incident, there are those that are using this as an excuse – as typified by Lilian Lisa Fithian, the master planner of the “direct action” riots that were seen in Seattle when the WTO meetings were held there).  Lots of groups have been horning in on this tragedy for their own political purposes (e.g., New Black Panthers. Communist Party USA, et al).

And yes, Obama is making it all about him….again.

Fox News – protesters have already gone after cars and some store fronts.  Watching the livestream, protesters advanced on the police line and now there is a lot of tear gas in the air. Unverified reports of gunshots heard.  Car on fire.  Looting the Fergason Meat & Liquor – looting a cell phone store is “justice’…….how?  Like I said, simply an excuse.

Sounding more like the Ferguson grand jury may be ready to reveal its decision.  While many are thinking that all hell is going to break loose if Officer Wilson is cleared of wrong doing, I think that with all of the professional grievance mongers have descended up Ferguson for what ever reason (e.g., race relations, pro-Commies, “guess what I did during my Thanksgiving break!”), they are going to riot no matter what – innocent, guilty – it will make no difference.

“A St. Louis area gun shop refused a sale to an African-American woman because, according to the clerk, St. Louis police informed gun stores that Darren Wilson will not be charged,” addictinginfo.com reports. And told them to remove their firearms from the premises in case “protestors” choose to do a little affirmative shopping. “To be clear, this was not an instance of racism (not in the traditional sense, anyway) — the shop was just in the process of removing all guns and ammunition from the premises, allegedly on the order of police.” You didn’t know that? Apparently the media didn’t get the memo. Literally . . .

Did you notice the tractor trailer back there to our loading dock?” the man asked the woman, who responded with an affirmative. “All the guns are already packed in, and we’re taking all the pawns out of here too, just to protect our customers’ merchandise.”

Yeah, ain’t this the height of irony.  Obama calls out “Free Entry” (and free access to our welfare system) to those coming in through our Southern border and Mexico (who supplies the majority of its citizens as our illegal aliens) had decided to use a Free Market alternative to slow down immigrants through its borders – ABC 10 news (reformatted, emphasis mine):

SAN DIEGO – If you are a United States citizen and cross the border frequently you may have to pay a fee to go into Mexico.  The National Immigration Institute in Mexico (INAMI) has started a pilot program in which foreigners that enter Mexican territory for more than seven days or they will be involved in paid work, they will have to pay 306 pesos, or about 28 US dollars.

“We are doing what should be done,” said Rudolfo Figueroa, representative of INAMI in Baja California. “Foreigners who enter Mexico have the obligation to register; if they will be in national territory for more than seven days, they have to pay the right of non-residents.”

Conservative Review has a quick list of the lies implicit / explicit / omission by Obama last night:

Lie #1: Every President has Taken Executive Action on Immigration: No other president has ever issued an amnesty of anywhere near this scope, created it out of thin air, or built it upon a prior executive action instead of a statute…

Lie #2: Illegal Immigrant Crossings are Down: Actually, this is the third straight year that border crossings have gone up, not to mention the entirely new wave from Central America…

Lie #3: It does not grant citizenship or the right to stay here permanently: Under the royal edict, the work permits can be renewed every three years, and most likely, they will be renewed at the same 99.5% acceptance rate as DACA applications…

Lie #4: Only 5 Million: Make no mistake about it.  Obama’s illegal amnesty will not just apply to 5 million individuals.  It will apply by default to all 12-20 million illegals in the country as well as the millions more who will now come here to enjoy the permanent cessation of borders and sovereignty…

The one thing about Progressives and Big Government types – they can’t seem to want to let go of 19th century technology – trains.  They get all goose-bumply every time it seems to come up and provide yet another opportunity to spend other peoples’ money to advance their fascination to relegate the many for paying for the few “privileged”.  Oh sure, they have lots of excuses and obfuscations – they’ll wax eloquently about “working while riding”, Green transportation, evil cars, emissions, economy, and oh yeah, the economy.

Always the economic benefit but none of them can refute one Important Fact – NONE of them wants to pay full boat themselves for the cost of it – and how can it stimulate the economy when it can’t even pay for its own existence??  In today’s UL is an article talking about the options that are making these old fashioned tech fanboys and girls – and it summarizes it well be asking “Who REALLY pays?” (reformatted, emphasis mine):

The Manchester Regional option calls for $246 million in total capital costs, with half that coming from federal grants and another $51 million coming from the value of MTBA supplying the trains and track rights. Calculations show about $7 million beyond ticket and advertising revenues would be needed annually to pay the debt service and the remaining operating costs.  By comparison, the Nashua Minimum scenario would cost $120 million in capital costs or $39 million after federal and MBTA contributions. That would leave a $4 million yearly gap to bridge.  The Concord Intercity option would cost $256 million, or $128 million after federal funds. The Concord option would not get any MBTA contributions, so $15 million a year would be needed beyond ticket and advertising revenue.

Put another way, that annual cost that still would need to be funded breaks down to $10 per estimated rider per one-way trip under the Manchester option, $22 for the Nashua alternative and $61 for the Concord option, according to the study.

This recent election saw more elected Republicans voted into office, top to bottom, than any time since Herbert Hoover.  Each and every poll that I have seen said why – just like in 2010 only louder and more angrily – stop Obama. They kicked the Dems out of more state legislatures and governerships than ever, sending the message that the electorate wanted the Dems stopped at the State level.  They strengthened the majority in the US House for the Republicans and gave them a majority in the US Senate.  The message?   Stop Obama and his policies.  Period.  Full Stop.  No Excuses.  We are tired of the “dense pack” efforts to fundamentally transform America via  the use of Alinsky’s Rule #8:

RULE 8: “Keep the pressure on. Never let up.” Keep trying new things to keep the opposition off balance. As the opposition masters one approach, hit them from the flank with something new. (Attack, attack, attack from all sides, never giving the reeling organization a chance to rest, regroup, recover and re-strategize.)

The base has had it – and sent a message to “do what it takes“.  We sent you there to do one and only one job.  Period.  Stop the dissembling of America.  Stop the Progressives from turning us into Europe (or worse).  Return to Constitutional order and bounds. We gave you more than enough ammo – get to work and we will accept no excuses.

Via Betsy’s Page,  Prof Thomas Sowell’s take down of NYT’s opinion writer Nicholas Kristof that slavery isn’t the slavery of the past – but liberal policies aren’t helping:

…Kristof’s other “overwhelming” evidence of the current effects of past slavery is that blacks do not have as much income as whites. But Puerto Ricans do not have as much income as Japanese Americans. Mexican Americans do not have as much income as Cuban Americans. All sorts of people do not have as much income as all sorts of other people, not only in the United States, but in countries around the world. And most of these people were never enslaved.

If we wanted to be serious about evidence, we might compare where blacks stood a hundred years after the end of slavery with where they stood after 30 years of the liberal welfare state. In other words, we could compare hard evidence on “the legacy of slavery” with hard evidence on the legacy of liberals. Despite the grand myth that black economic progress began or accelerated with the passage of the Civil Rights laws and “War on Poverty” programs of the 1960s, the cold fact is that the poverty rate among blacks fell from 87 percent in 1940 to 47 percent by 1960. This was before any of those programs began.
