Where Shawn Millerick beclowns himself – again.

Jethro BodineIt is clear that the Editor of NH Journal doesn’t like this bastion of Conservative / Libertarian news and commentary, given that his veins run blue with Establishment Old Guard and all.  After all, we’re just a bunch of ordinary schlubs here at GraniteGrok, bitter clingers to our guns, Bibles, and Conservative / Libertarian viewpoints – we’re just those icky types of folks who, unbelievably, actually have a core set of beliefs.

I guess that from his high perchdom of full time Editor and political operativeness, we don’t matter.  Yet, there must be SOMETHING that we’re doing right because he decided to send a rather sneering email to me:

Hey! Dufus! Why the Hell Aren’t You Covering “This!?”

Both hands and a flashlightShawn Millerick, the head of the political fiction section at NH Journal, wanted to know why we at GraniteGrok were not covering the real world story about Ann McKluster Kuster not paying her property taxes.  The appropriate response was to provide a link to the story I actually wrote on February 5th about how Ann McKluster Kuster was not paying her property taxes.  A story I updated with additional comments from the Chairs of both political parties and a bit of exposition with regard to the sources.

It was a story posted the same day as the first story at NH Journal about how Ann McKluster Kuster was not paying her taxes, at roughly 6 am, perhaps even before NHJ pushed out their version; a story with the eponymous title…”Annie McKluster Doesn’t Pay Her Taxes?”

How hard could that be to find?  I’m pondering a pithy epithet for the NHJ Political Fiction Department that involves an ass, both hands, and a flashlight.

Shawn Millerick: kettle, black

Jethro BodineYou know, I ALMOST forgot about this line:

How is it the biggest opportunity to bash a Democrat/Liberal comes along and you guys have stories about snow storms on your site? Kuster dodging taxes is not big enough to cover?? You guys are lame. Keep going after everyone else. I suspect I was the only person who read your site today so you should thank me.

Now, we make no bones about it – we are a state level blog in one of the Union’s smallest States staffed by a small group of part-timers; we know where we stand in the greater blogosphere.  While we do have several award winning bloggers and while our traffic is mild compared to some, we’re ok with our size and are grateful to every reader that comes to the ‘Grok, even if it is just one.  But this had me scratching my head – NH Journal puts itself up as THE place to go here in NH for this kind of stuff, and has full timers (or did – I only go over there maybe a couple times a year at best) and with Hynsie’s former blogger cred for link love, I figured that their traffic would give credence to Millerick’s sneering.  Instead, we’ve caught another acting like Fergus “The Fringe” Cullen.

Staphylococcus at NH Journal?

Has NH Journal developed a Staff Infection?
Has NH Journal developed a “Staff” Infection?

NH Journal appears to have developed the flesh eating variety of the “staph” infection, and it looks serious.  It has already claimed someone’s balls.

The castrated scribbler in question–see also “Staff Reporter”–has written a nifty little attack piece in which they observed that Jack Kimball had endorsed Andrew Hemingway for NH-GOP Chairman.

The endorsement is no surprise. Many of Kimball’s few remaining supporters – including Joe Barton, a man he called his “black opps guy” – have backed Hemingway for weeks.

Thank the Lord they quote John DiStaso in advance of that gem or we’d have to wonder if the NHJ mystery reporter was just making it up like that secret meeting that NH Journal invented back in late October with Kimball and some named “remaining followers.”  Once you start making news so you can report it, everyone has to question everything you publish, even when the by-line is from such a well known and respected journalist as Staff Reporter.

NHJournal – Maybe I jumped the Gun On the Importance of Spelling…

I may have been a bit premature when I titled my first Blog “NHJournal – Where Spelling Is More Important Than Integrity.

Just for a refresher, Shawn Millerick thought it would be funny to point out how I left a letter out of his first name and misspelled Pat Hynes last name (My spell checker keeps trying to change it to Haynes by the way).  Typos! -Going for the jugular.  And I pointed out that I could fix the typos but that his lying to his readers, for what I can only assume was as a favor to the NH-GOP political establishment power-brokers, might not be so easy to fix.  (And if he just did it for kicks and not the GOP would that be better or worse?)

While integrity is still an issue (now and forever) it turns out he has some other problems as well, and they are pretty damn funny considering.  Pull quotes from Mr. Millerick’s piece, please…

On Tuesday, the New Hampshire chapter of Americans for Prosperity bestowed upon GraniteGrok’s Steve MacDonald the lofty title of ‘Blogger of the Month.’

Actually, the news release is dated the 17th, which was Monday, not Tuesday.  Calendars were invented before 1925, right?  It’s also a national award from AFPhq, reported through the New Hampshire chapter if you must know.

And I did mention spelling…

NH Journal – What They Have in Common With Liberals

The only person besides Shawn Millerick of NHJournal to try and hang the misogynist, sexist tag on me is Harrell Kirstein.  When Harrell tried it he was the communications Zombie for the New Hampshire Democrat party. You know what else Millerick has in common with Democrats?

NHJournal – Where Spelling Is More Important Than Integrity

I have to admit that Shawn Millerick got me good when he said I couldn’t spell.  Actually, the problem is that I am not terribly adept at typing and I try to squeeze out posts before work and after the kids go to bed.  I’m not always thorough.  But on a positive note, I don’t make up meetings out of thin air to smear my political opponents.

Millerick would also like you to believe that I am insulting a female candidate (Jennifer Horn) when I use the word pimping.   I apologize if I was unclear.  I’m actually insulting him, NHJournal, and whoever it is in the GOP establishment that is yanking his pull string.

Guess WHAT Shawn Millerick? Establishment R’s DID plan to have a meetup to pick their Chair!

I am still waiting for NH Journal (as far as I know, still co-owned by political operatives Patrick Hynes of Hynes Communications and Shawn Millerick of Millerick Financial) to post a retraction to their story that a number of grassroot activists met to “choose” someone to run against the Establishment candidate, Jennifer Horn.  Every person named in that story has told Millerick that there was no meeting to which they were “not invited.”  To date, the only notation that Millerick has put on his post has been verbiage intimating there was a meeting but that the “invitees” were not invited (re: how else would you take his phrasing of “UPDATE: Surprise! Diane Bitter tells NH Journal she was not invited to the meeting.” ?).

Well, the bigger problem for him is that the Establishment was talking about having such a meeting – I was forwarded an email thread speaking to that point.  Here are two of them (emphasis mine):

Was Millerick Donating Regularly to a PAC that Supports Prominent Democrats?

NH Journal took its first shot at Andrew Hemingway for daring to challenge the Republican establishments anointed candidate for NH-GOP chair.  Shawn Millerick sources his most recent remarks on the race for New Hampshire Republican State Party Chairman from a ‘Republican Reader,’ who forwarded to him a piece by the more-often-than-not left wing political meme generator, POLITICO.

The story recounts the mind-numbing volume of shady, fly-by-night PACs formed over the last two years ostensibly designed to help the pugnacious West, a conservative African-American Congressman from Florida.

So Shawn Millerick, the (r)epublican establishment meat puppet whose ‘Sources’ invented a meeting and its purpose out of whole cloth, which Millerick then posted without verification (becasue he probably made it up) and has yet to retract, now has a ‘Republican Reader’ who sent him an article questioning Hemingway’s motivation for using his PAC to support Conservative Republican Allen West for Congress…

OK Shawn I’ll play.  Why did your wife donate regularly to a PAC that gives half it’s money to Democrats in Congress and the US Senate?

NH Journal – Shawn Millerick: stooge for the Gnome of the North

Well, I guess that the battle will now be joined.  Shawn Millerick is a partner / friend with Pat Hynes (a former friend and co-host in “Meet The New Press” radio show that was the number one talk show in the NH Lakes Region) in NH Journal (and other activities) decided that NH Journal was going to start to “shape the battlefield” with this “out of thin air” post:

Sources: Kimball to stage comeback attempt as party chairman

After having served a failed half-term as Chairman of the New Hampshire Republican State Committee – a term that ended in his last-second resignation just before being ousted – Jack Kimball may attempt to engineer a comeback and challenge Jennifer Horn for the post, sources tell NH Journal.

According to sources, Kimball will host a private strategy meeting on Friday to discuss the race for chairman and seek an opponent to Horn, who is backed by most party big-wigs. According to one source, if no other candidate emerges from the meeting, Kimball has said he would go for it.

Some of those invited to the meeting include Kimball, Skip Murphy, Diane Bitter, Joe Barton and Gerry and Sue DeLemus.

Really?  “Sources”?  Those in his head? So be it.  I sent that post to all the folks  to check because I was never contacted for verification.  Turns out, nobody was.  Simply put, this was a hit piece just like the Obama folks do – an attempt to discredit folks that might be playing a role in fighting yet another Sununu sock puppet.

Sources“?  Those in his head? Or those just whispering in his ear (the Left one)?  Journalistic Integrity? So be it.    #WAR

Let’s  follow some connections in a quick exercise of “Six degrees of Kevin Bacon”?

NH Journal – I Have A Question

Pat Hynse flunky and NH Journal editor Shawn Millerick went to bat for the progressive (r)epublican establishment the other day by fabricating a secret meeting, with a select guest list, for the purpose of agitating the voting members to support the anointed NHGOP chairman of choice, Jennifer Horn–because hey, we have to come together and … Read more

NH Journal – hey, here’s a Journalistic clue for you, Millerick

Shawn, a word of advice for you (worth every penny you will pay for it) as it seems it passed you by the first few hundred times.  My post (and Steve’s) point out a fundamental flaw that even an elementary schooler (if not schooled at a Government school in the classification of “In Need Of … Read more

Following Mahoney’s Money Part I

The recent polling done by CrossTarget for Americans For Prosperity (AFP) has too many links to Mahoney to be taken seriously as an outside poll.   And while trying to research the poll and the people connected to it, I discovered an almost incestuous collaboration of professional political consultants, and insiders to the Mahoney for congress checkbook that all circle around Americans For Job Security.

CrossTarget, the polling organization, was created by Stephen DeMaura and Patrick Hynes, both connected political insiders.  DeMaura is no fan of Guinta, and Hynes works for Mahoney.   So why would AFP choose CrossTarget for a poll given these obvious questions of conflict?  I have no idea why, but it was a bad call by Lewandowski and it questions AFP’s neutrality on the race if there even is one.

As for Hynes and DeMaura, they have connections to a more complex relationship with current and former members of AJS (maybe there’s no such thing a a former member of AJS) that conveniently lead repeatedly back to Sean Mahoney’s campaign expense report.
