Ron Paul is on the cover of National Review this week….

…and it ain’t all that pretty. Especially since the article is by Kevin Williamson, libertarian writer,  GrokTalk Radio guest several times, and the author of the excellent book, The Politically Incorrect Guide to Socialism. I like Ron Paul. I voted for him in the primary in 2008. But Ron Paul will not be the GOP Presidential … Read more

RINO OF THE WEEK REPORT

“Remember that a government big enough to give you everything you want is also big enough to take away everything you have.” ~Barry Goldwater The RINO of the week is two-term Belknap District 5 House Representative Peter Bolster.  Representative Bolster could be more aptly portrayed as a “soft” RINO, but still another Republican who ascribes … Read more

Republikinz-R -Stoopid?

Michelle Malkin discusses the lefts age old narrative about Republicans being dumb, and the recent attacks on Rick Perry. The obvious comparison, and she says it herself, “Dumb compared to who?” Great point. We’ve got more University economic egg-heads roaming the White House than you can shake a ruler at and yet they have to the last come up with nothing but a series of failed polices that have a) failed to meet any of their own genius exclamations and expectations and b) made things worse. It’s fun all the way through so take six minutes out of your morning and watch Malkin work.

While Everyone is Pissed Off at Rick Perry

Romney is not the presumptive winner, not because of Rick Perry, but because most Republicans really are still looking for a candidate they can get behind and Perry is the best high-profile “not Romney” candidate to come forward.

RINO OF THE WEEK REPORT

ROTW_GROK.jpg

“Remember that a government big enough to give you everything you want is also big enough to take away everything you have.” ~Barry Goldwater

A common theme heard from whiney liberals these days is that conservatives, tea-party patriots and some Republicans take absolute positions on issues and are unwilling to compromise, “for the good of the people.” There are four fundamental flaws in that logic.

First, how liberals define compromise. In final analysis, compromise means abandoning ones principles and going along with liberals, perhaps watering down some measure that renders the original principle sought after inoperable.

Second, the logic implies that the maker of the statement (the liberal) is irrefutably correct. The liberal implies all facts are on his or her side.

Third, liberals just love those who go along because that means the opposition is malleable. The opposition has weak links in their unity and party platform.

Finally, it implies a tacit acknowledgement by the “compromiser” that perhaps the liberal, “is correct” in his or her logic.

There is nothing wrong with spirited and sometimes bitter partisanship. The citizens governed should have clear unambiguous choices. Voting for most Republicans means one favors less government intrusion, reasonable and lower taxes, whereby the majority is not paying for the select few to live off the many. One favors a government that is both responsible socially, and looks to people, not government as a first resort to solve problems.

The RINO REPORT has featured those Republicans in Name Only who have distinguished themselves as the harlots of the left. Those who run on principles claiming to be an, “independent voice” in Concord without ever being held accountable to say, what that really means. Those folks could easily be on a Leftist-progressive ticket and fellow Republicans would never really know the difference, mush less miss them.

As the RINO report moves forward, ROTW now segues into a considerably more ambiguous analysis. For example, This weeks RINO  REPORT took a hard look at Rep. Lawrence B. “KOKO” Perkins, Rockingham 14 to be featured. When one drills down into his voting record, however, it is easy to see that Perkins voted predominantly with Conservatives on Guns, Liberty and Families.  While he took a walk on Right to work and voted for spending measures that favor Unions over regular working class folks, being a firefighter gave us no illusions about what he would or would not support. Morover, he gave the PFFNH cover. Their campaign contributions to Perkins allows Davind Lang and his ilk to say they are, “non-partisan” when in fact, they overwhelmingly support Democrats. And that is… when he showed up. While he might have voted on issues important to me, the fact is he still voted for Unions. Does it make him a RINO? Readers must judge that for themselves.

545 People Are Responsible For The Mess, But They Unite In A Common Con

“Those who are too smart to engage in politics are punished by being governed by those who are dumber.”~Plato, Ancient Greek Philosopher

Charley_Reese_Grok.jpg

Charley Reese retired July 29, 2001. Who was Charley Reese? He was a columnist, serving 30 of those years at the Orlando Sentinel.  Characterized best by his plainspoken manner and conservative views,  he was with the Sentinel from 1971–2001, serving as  a writer and other such editorial capacities. King Features Syndicate distributed Charley’s column, which published up to three times a week.

On February 3, 1984 Charley originally published the column below. This column additionally republished as his final column. Rightfully so and despite being 27 years removed from its orignal publish date, it is no less relevant.

Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.

Have you ever wondered, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, WHY do we have deficits?

Have you ever wondered, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, WHY do we have inflation and high taxes?

You and I don’t propose a federal budget. The President does.

You and I don’t have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does.

You and I don’t write the tax code, Congress does.

You and I don’t set fiscal policy, Congress does.

You and I don’t control monetary policy, the Federal Reserve Bank does.

One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one President, and nine Supreme Court justices equates to 545 human beings out of the 300 million are directly, legally, morally, and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.

I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered, but private, central bank.

I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason. They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman, or a President to do one cotton-picking thing. I don’t care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it. No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator’s responsibility to determine how he votes.

Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party.

Christopher Hill is Running For President

Christopher Hill is running for president. Who? Chris Hill. Chris is a gulf war fighter pilot who spent time in New Hampshire working in grass roots Republican politics. He graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1985. I met Chris about a year and half ago, and about twelve moths ago he told me over lunch that he was fed up with the government, and was interested in running for public office. He told me he was going to run for president.

That’s Texas GOP Senate candidate Ted Cruz. There’s this thing about Hispanics: By inclination they’re natural Republicans (that’s why you don’t see Hispanic panhandlers). Here’s George Will on Cruz and other Republican Senators: The three Hispanics elected to major offices in 2010 — Florida’s Sen. Marco Rubio, Nevada’s Gov. RINO OF THE WEEK REPORT

ROTW_GROK.jpg

“Remember that a government big enough to give you everything you want is also big enough to take away everything you have.” ~Barry Goldwater

The RINO of the week is three term House Representative David H. Kidder.  Representative Kidder’s voting record reveals a rank statist who consistently supports governmental intrusion into the lives of Granite State citizens. Like The previous RINO’s Alida Millham and Ken Gould,  Representative Kidder is an enthusiatic advocate of nanny-statism. A common theme of these RINOs is the propensity to wage war on the traditional in-tact family unit. Often referred to as “Rockefeller Republicans”,   David Kidder was ranked by the New Hampshire House Republican Alliance with a whopping score of 42%. Clearly, this is a demonstrated fealty to liberal-progressive principles.

  • Voted against HB 125 a law that would support the right of the Granite State to regulate firearms within its sovereign borders as a state;
  • ROTW_Kidder_07_15_11_GROKa.gif

  •  Voted against HB210, commonly referred to as, “Stand Your Ground” Which, “allows a person who is in any place where he or she has a right to be or reasonably believed he or she had a right to be to use deadly force to protect oneself.”
  •  Did Not vote on HB474 (2/15/11)Which would end Labor Union’s ability to compel non-union workers from paying agency fees as a condition of employment;
  •  Voted against CACR 9 affirming that parental rights are a natural right; “Provides that parents have the natural right to control the health, education, and welfare of their children.”
  •  Voted against HB519  A bill repealing the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative…a a cap-and-trade system that has raised electricity prices, created a slush fund for the member states, and has no impact on reducing emissions. So Kidder voted for a tax expansion and big government spending.
  •  Voted against HB329 The parental notification bill;
  •  Voted against HB147, the, “Kimberly Cates” Bill which expands the death penalty to murders committed during home invasions and burglaries.
  •  Voted against HB519  A bill repealing the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative…a a cap-and-trade system that has raised electricity prices, created a slush fund for the member states, and has no impact on reducing emissions. So Kidder voted for a tax expansion and big government spending.

Hey! Let’s split up the conservative GOP primary vote even more!

Newly entered, about to enter, or might enter: Conservative Texas Gov. Rick Perry. Conservative Rep. Thaddeus McCotter. Conservative Mayor Rudi Guiliani Conervative Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin Anyone else? We might as well further fracture the conservative vote in the NH primary so that you-know-who will come out on top, which will further damage the Republican Party….

Sarah Palin: Is it now or never?

A picture of Palin in her home town of Wasilla, Alaska, from the current issue of Newsweek magazine:

Palin Plots Her Next Move

Sarah Palin hasn’t jumped into the race for the White House (yet), but she believes the prize is there for the taking. In a conversation with Peter J. Boyer, Palin warns Boehner not to raise the debt ceiling, proclaims that Obama is beatable—and says the 2012 field is far from settled.

How Did Your NH House Republican Rank In 2011?

NHHRA Banner

The New Hampshire House Republican Alliance has released its July 2011 score card for the entire first session of the Republican House majority. NHHRA Score Card PDF  file.

I’ve culled my reps from the list (Hills 19) below.  I’ve also generated a list of the Republican bottom feeders for 2011.  These are what we would call RINOs, moderate democrats who could never survive the bullying from the left, or might never get elected if they admitted that they have little or no interest in supporting the Republican party platform.

They are folks who are incapable of finding the 80/20 rule, or to be more precise the 70/30 rule, and in one instance (Ken Gould) we have a (r)epublican who only voted against the party 70% of the time.

The NHCP (formerly the NHDP) will call this a purity list, which is amusing when you consider how they treat their moderates, but let me assure you that it is no such thing.  It is more like an intervention.  Many of these troubled souls are in denial.  Trapped in Republican leaning districts they are pretending to be something they are not.  I’m just helping them (and their constituents) to accept that they may be democrats, actual independent moderates, or just missing the boat often enough to get lumped in with people who have little or no interest in the goals of the party.

There’s nothing wrong with that.  But it’s time to come out of the closet and stop pretending.  To embrace your "independent" or democrat roots, and run as what you are instead of pretending to be something you are not.

Here is the Hills 19 list first (Merrimack).  For the list of bottom feeders, just follow the jump.

RINO OF THE WEEK REPORT

The RINO of the week is Nottingham House Representative Frank Case. This week features a Republican whose voting record shows frequent opposition to conservative values and resistance to liberty.

Honey Puterbaugh for State Rep

Honey is a solid small government candidate who will do her best to keep the state off your back and out of your face. She will support realistic revenue projections, budgets that address real world needs instead of ideological wants. And as a homeschooler, she supports real choice in education.

Huntsman Is Just Another RINO

Aside from diluting Romney’s vote Huntsman serves no purpose. I’m sorry. That is not entirely correct. He gives us another RINO whipping boy to catalyze our distrust of the moderate Republican establishment and a complicit left wing media, both of whom are trying to tell us which Republican to vote for (aka: the next John McCain Republican.)

THIS is a potential GOP Presidential Candidate who could win the Presidency…if he will get in the race!

He is a candidate that every freedom-lover—and every Ron Paul supporter—should be urging to get into the GOP primary race. Here he is on the issues:

  • On economics: "I love von Mises. When I go on vacation and I lay on the beach, I bring von Mises."
  • On the Troubled Asset Relief Program ("TARP"): Congress "just gave the Treasury [an unconstitutional] $700 billion blank check."
  • On the U.S. Constitution: "The Constitution is government’s stop sign. It says you—the three branches of government—can go so far and no farther. With TARP, the government blew through the Constitutional stop sign."
  • On the Chrysler bailout and screwing the bondholders: "We essentially watched over 100 years of bankruptcy law thrown out the window. President Obama eviscerated the private property interests of the secured creditors. He called them ‘greedy’ for enforcing their own legal rights."
  • On the Federal Reserve flooding the world with printed money: "What has gotten us into deep trouble and has people so perturbed is the debasing of the currency."
  • On Obama entering yet another war in the Mideast: "I was opposed to the U.S. involvement in Libya from the very start. President Obama has never made a compelling national security case on Libya."
  • On the failure of government schools and getting into politics: "The kids were coloring posters in 11th grade algebra class. I decided to do my duty, go to the Republican convention…and gave a five-minute speech on freedom, economic liberty, and all the rest. And no one could believe it, but I won a supermajority on the first ballot."
  • On federal taxes: "In my perfect world, we’d take the 35% corporate tax down to nine so that we’re the most competitive in the industrialized world. Zero out capital gains. Zero out the alternative minimum tax. Zero out the death tax."
  • On the income tax: "I love the FAIR tax. If we were starting over from scratch, I would favor a national sales tax." BUT…the federal income tax must be Constitutionally repealed; otherwise "we would end up with a dual tax, a national sales tax and an income tax."
  • On energy issues: "We need an America-centered energy policy [based on] drilling and mining for our rich resources here."
  • On Obamacare: "You cannot have a pro-growth economy and advise, simultaneously, socialized medicine."
  • On the looming economic crash: "People realize the crisis we face isn’t in 25 years or even 10 years off. It is right now."

Who is this man who articulates the same positions as Barry Goldwater, Ronald Reagan, Ron Paul, Sarah Palin, and other conservative leaders…one who could win the Presidency, IF he got into the race?

I’ll tell you who….
