CNHT Taxpayer Family Reunion Picnic – NH’s Executive Council candidates: Jane Cormier and Jim Beard

CNHTTo be honest, I would have thought a few more prospective Republican candidates would have shown up at the CNHT Annual Taxpayer Picnic:

  • Like my Exec. Councilor, Joe Kenney who has a primary with Kim Strathdee in District 1 (yes, my personal “please vote for Joe Kenney”)
  • Russell Prescott (who went to the Dark Side by proposing a whopping increase in the highway toll taxes – maybe that’s why he was a no-show)
  • Ted Gatsas – guess “His Honor” decided that CNHT was a bit too low to visit

BUT!  Jim Beard who is running unopposed in District 2 showed up and Jane Cormier, the soon to be “Singing Councilor” (Sidenote: She will be singing the national anthem at the beginning of the Manchester Fisher Cat game on August 3rd.) were present and willing to speak to the crowd:

We reported on this upcoming event last week. Today, the New Hampshire Union Leader has some reporting on Executive Council (EC) District 4 candidate Jane Cormier during the event.

A former state representative for Belknap Country’s District 8, Cormier said she plans to emphasize constitutionally conservative principles with any nominations and appointments put before the council, including a state Supreme Court position that will open in 2019.

Speaking of that interview….it seems there are some Public Access directors playing dirty pool

About that interview that I just put up; Peter Martin interviewing Jerry Thibodeau, who is running to unseat long, long, long (er, too long) holder of said seat, Ray Burton–who seems to act like he is entitled to it.  While that interview is running in-and-about Northern cable systems (accessing about 19 towns / cities), two folks have decided that THEY have the divine right to not put up the video.  Playing politics, it seems?  You bet!

GraniteGrok Endorsement – NH Executive Council: Jerry Thibodeau

We now switch our attention, and our endorsements, back from the US Congress to NH based races.  Specifically, the New Hampshire Executive Council is now our focus and our first endorsement is for Jerry Thibodeau in District 1 where the aged Ray Burton has been the incumbent since, well, dirt was made – with similar political practices.  The operative question is asked by Jim Pindell:

Might Ray Burton lose his primary?

The answer is that he should!

NH born and bred, Jerry is well respected and long time Republican and former Manchester Republican Chair.  I have talked with him at length and was impressed with his background of going from little to a very successful entrepreneur of a multi-million dollar business.  He knows what it takes from a negotiating side, knows how to read contracts, and knows how to ferret out the details that would otherwise “lopside” a deal against the State.  Having been one that has spent his own money on building his business and signing the front of paychecks, he’ll be watching out for our money as closely as he has his own (instead of doing “favors” and voting to increase the size of government) as he scrutinized the cost of every contract.  Based on his philosophical stances, I certainly would be assured that when it came to appointments for either bureacrats, Commissioners, or judges.

Please note that Grokster Rick gave Jerry his personal endorsement a little bit ago.  The Republican Liberty Caucus of NH also has endorsed him.  Karen Testerman has also endorsed Jerry.

Best of all, he will bring a fresh perspective that has been sorely lacking for a long, long time.  Change for the sake of change is never good – change IS good, however, when it is for a purpose, and that is what Jerry brings to the table.  And never, ever, would Jerry be endorsing Democrats for races like Ray Burton has in which there are Republicans running.

We fully endorse Jerry for Executive Council and ask for your vote for him.

GrokTV Special Interview: Bob Burns (Candidate for NH Exec. Council Dist. 4) – Question 8: Coming up to a primary – why “me” versus those I am running against?

And this is the final question we had for Bob Burns – the final pitch to those that could vote for him for NH Executive Council in District 4. Question 8: Coming up to a primary – why “me” versus those I am running against? Previous: Question 1: Why are you running? Question 2: You … Read more

GrokTV Special Interview: Bob Burns (Candidate for NH Exec. Council Dist. 4) – Question 7 – What else does the Council do?

Contracts.  Judges.  Appointments.  The NH Executive Council does that – but we asked Bob Burns what else the Exec. Council does that he thinks needs to be changed? Question 7: You’ve mentioned contracts, you’ve mentioned judges / dept. heads; what else does the Council do that has a specific interest in your heart that you … Read more

GrokTV Special Interview: Bob Burns (candidate for NH Executive Council District 4) – Q5: “Hacks” versus “Public Servants”?

Leadership counts and one of the primary jobs of the NH Executive Council is to confirm those that have been brought up for appointment for leadership positions like Commissioners of departments and such, and judges.  The person doing the nominating certainly has a philosophy as to why a given candidate should be confirmed, so we … Read more

GrokTV Special Interview: Bob Burns (candidate for NH Executive Council District 4) – Q3: How would the Executive Council advance your vision of Government?

Obligatory question for almost everyone I interview – and now adding in “and what would you do about that?”  In this case, Bob Burns was asked the same question  to find out what he thinks how the Executive Council could “progress forward” (heh!  take THAT Libs!) to his vision of a smaller government?  Given what … Read more

GrokTV Special Interviews – CNHT in review – The “Micros” edition!

Man, am I stacked up on video – apologies for not getting this up earlier from the CNHT Annual Picnic.  While Grokster Steve manned our setup and watched over the live stream and the recording cameras, I snuck out a few times to get a few “micro-interviews”.  So, here they are:    Kevin Smith (Candidate, … Read more

No more anti-constitutional activist-judges! Executive Council to Vote on State Supreme Court nomination tomorrow.

This is what I said about it today, on behalf of the New Hampshire Legal Rights Foundation (NHLRF):

Everyone, the New Hampshire Legal Rights Foundation (NHLRF) put out a press release as of yesterday explaining why the Executive Council should refuse to confirm Mr. Jim Bassett as a NH Supreme Court Justice. That press release can be found online HERE. In the meantime, as the chairman of the NHLRF board of directors, I have been interviewed…

Executive Council’s Defunding of Planned Parenthood Is Sinister

“The most merciful thing that a family does to one of its infant members is to kill it.” ~Margaret Sanger, founder, Planned Parenthood

planned_parenthood_Grok.jpg

Kate Lancor, former Moultonborough welfare director decries the Executive council’s recent vote to defund Planned Parenthood. In her Union Leader Opposite Editorial entitled, Women need the services Planned Parenthood provides, Ms. Lancor characterizes the council vote as, “A pathetic lack of creative thinking in this [sic]country’s elected bodies that even allow such choices to be made.”

While giving readers a thumbnail history of Planned Parenthood and extolling its “community virtues,” Lancor admonishes, “Don’t politicize this, and make it an abortion issue, but rather a health care issue for millions of needy women. Buried underneath the portrayal of Planned Parenthood by lobbyists and politicians as trained abortionists lies years of providing family-planning education and much-needed affordable healthcare to millions of women and men.”

Lancor nails the talking points flawlessly in stating that, “Planned Parenthood provides contraceptives; breast, cervical and testicular cancer screenings; pregnancy testing and counseling; testing and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases; comprehensive sexuality education, menopause treatments; vasectomies, tubal ligations and abortion.”  Kate Lancor paints us a picture of a multi-faceted, healthcare-focused organization that is invaluable to communities.  Now who could possibly argue with that? Indeed, Ms. Lancor makes the case for its virtues. Ms. Lancor however overlooks the many problems with Planned Parenthood as an organization. So I’ll take them up where Ms. Lancor has conveniently left off.

Planned Parenthood is a corrupt organization. Despite repeated requests, Planned Parenthood will not open its books. Planned Parenthood spent more than $1 Million dollars in the 2010 election cycle supporting their candidates.

Planned Parenthood has provided services to men characterized as traffickers in the sex trade. Planned Parenthood has been the defendant in lawsuits charging the organization covered up the rapes of under-aged girls. Finally, numerous media reports detail clinics that overbilled by millions.
