Bowman: Welcome to MAGA ‘s Brighter America

Amid this day of remembrance, it saddens this veteran when watching today’s protests, but more aggravating are the “bones of contention.”  Unbelievably, this ongoing discord centers upon the very source that grants our freedom to protest, our own beautiful country! During the past century, the cancer of communism has been left alone to percolate within … Read more

Imani: A Flame Eternal – Honoring the fallen on Memorial Day

The air feels heavier on Memorial Day, as if the weight of sacrifice lingers in the breeze. Across the nation, flags ripple at half-mast, and quiet moments of reflection unfold in cemeteries, homes, and hearts. This is not a day for barbecues alone or casual ushering in summer. It is a sacred pause, a collective … Read more

Relearning the Lessons We Never Learned from World War I

On August 10, 1915, British physicist Henry Mosely—who would’ve likely won the Nobel Prize that year—died in perhaps the most disastrous error mankind has thus far made, The First World War (1914-18). Bright and pious fellow humans that had absorbed German, French, British, Russian “identities”; students, fathers, engineers, “great minds,” and “experts,” who even shared … Read more

Some Thoughts On Memorial Day

Memorial Day is a federal holiday, but unlike all of the others that are celebrations of an event, this day is a somber day to remember the brave men and women who left the safety of their homes, often just as kids, and went off to some foreign land to battle for the freedoms we enjoy, and did not return.

Memorial Day: A Look Back – And Forward?

You see, after years of “benign neglect,” one of the items for me, “semi-retirement,” was to focus on family and home. To the latter, a number of issues have arisen over the almost two decades, and now they have to be addressed.

Memorial Day Remembrance

Memorial Day

Memorial Day is that time of year where we remember those who gave their lives to purchase the freedoms that so many have squandered today. For many Memorial day is merely a long weekend where we enjoy the onset of summer weather (not so much). However, for others of us, Memorial Day is a reminder of the holes and voids in our families. Entire family trajectories and futures changed by the ravages of war.

In Particular, The story of Private Edward “Ned” Wells Allord, Husband to Priscilla and 28-year-old father of three girls from Jaffrey New Hampshire. Drafted into the U.S. Army, Ned Allord faithfully and dutifully reported for duty when his country called. Leaving behind his three young daughters, Priscilla, Katherine, and the youngest Dorothy, Ned Allord went to war.

Less than half of Americans know the true meaning behind Memorial Day

Sad, really sad. Saw this at Instapundit: I DON’T KNOW WHAT THEY TEACH IN PUBLIC SCHOOL. I KNOW IT’S NOT ANYTHING WORTH KNOWING:  Most Americans have no clue why we celebrate Memorial Day. Going to the link (reformatted, emphasis mine): Less than half of Americans know the true meaning behind Memorial Day, according to a new … Read more

Memorial Day 2020

As we approach Memorial Day, I am once again compelled to remind myself (and others) of the purpose and meaning of this sacred holiday. After the Civil War ended, friends and family would visit the graves of those killed in the war and would decorate them, as a means of remembering and honoring their sacrifice.  … Read more

A most sobering thought

NH Forest Rangers Want to Check Your Wood

campfirePeople who pay attention to such things are predicting a record Memorial Day Weekend for tourism in New Hampshire. Not that this is anything new. The Granite State has experienced year after year of tourism growth in contradiction to more than a decade of fearmongering by Climate Cultists that global warming would ruin the industry.

So, a note to the undeterred tourists. If you plan to bring your campfire “supplies,” New Hampshire forest rangers want to check out your wood.

The sacrifice of a Warrior

“No one desires Peace more than the Warriors and their families for they know the true cost of war”

Memorial Day – a different perspective from me

In years past for me, it has been about those who gave all, as Grokster Steve points out here.  That simple drawing shows the gratitude for all the sacrifices that millions have given to our country, to us, and to me personally.  I have, as I have explained here many times, never served, so I … Read more
