Ask Maggie Hassan: What Pledge Did You Take?

Maggie “Louisville Slugger” Hassan says she took The Pledge. What she means (at least for us to believe) is that she took the anti-tax pledge. The one where Democrats lie to voters about promising to veto any sales or income tax that reaches them. Lie or not I’m having a hard time figuring out exactly what she means.

CNHT, New Hampshire’s traditional keeper of ‘The No Tax Pledge’ has no record of Hassan submitting a signed Pledge to veto a broad based tax.

American’s for Tax Reform, similarly aligned with CNHT, also does not list Maggie Hassan as someone who has taken the no tax pledge.

So what pledge did Maggie Hassan take?

The New Hampshire House and Senate will vote today to override Governor John Lynch’s veto of two bills that sought to allow Granite State businesses to receive tax credits for donations to scholarship funds to help low and middle income students attend private and religious schools.

Of course, opponents of SB 372 and HB 1607 had lots to say about these bills, chief among them, Maggie, “The Red” Hassan. Hassan, as reported in the Union Leader said,

A Question for NH Democrats & Unions…

Is this the NH Democrat parties postion as well, and that of the state union, SEA, SEIU, Teamsters and others who are insisting that New Hampshire workers have no right to opt out of paying union dues just to get a job? Does the Federal government have the right to close a business or a facility in our state, and force those workers out of their employment, simply becasue they are either not unionized or have voted to de-certify the union, as is the case in South Carolina?

Defeated Democratic state Senator Maggie Hassan made it official today that she will be running for governor in 2012. In her usual hokum, Hassan touted the typical big government solution to prop up the economy. As reported in the Union Leader, Maggie the Marxist, “stressed the need to create jobs by “investing” in education and job training programs and by fostering a business climate that attracts innovative small businesses and new technologies.” Translation: “investing” equals big-government spending and solutions…equals heavy taxation to raise such revenues. Such notions were brought with her as a carpet-bagging “massplant” to the Granite State.

The Union Leader reported that “Maggie the Marxist” pledged to be a fiscally responsible governor who would veto any sales or income tax and commit herself to a balanced state budget.“ This is laughable given her extensive record as a State Senator. My fellow Blogger Steve MacDonald absolutely nailed it on back October 5^th when he wrote:

Hassan is a left wing, government first, spend then tax Democrat who wants socialized medicine, supports abortion from conception to birth (also here), and was more than willing to trample on opponents with the “Sullivan/Hassan Hates Speech (the left can’t control) amendment.” (also here, and here, …) She is also willing to lie about her opponents to get re-elected.
