Folks from all over the northeast come to New Hampshire to buy fireworks they can’t get in their states. We appreciate the business, and it’s none of our business who you are as long as you’re over 21. But not every town in NH allows you this privilege.
Fireworks
Palate Cleanser – This Is NOT a Simple “Home Based Fireworks Gone Wrong” Example
Steve has already posted a couple of fireworks-gone-really-bad (here and here). Ghastly if you are within ten feet or so when a single spark decided to light up your life! Not that I was looking to “out do” Steve, but while surfing, I came across this and decided that the “ten foot” mentioned earlier definitely … Read more
Another Home Fireworks Display Gone Wild …
Watching the back end of a minivan light up is a must-watch piece of internet video. It was so popular among our readers that I went out and found another one—a little more Independence day celebrating gone wild.
Watch: Fireworks – No One Appears To Have Lost A Finger Here…but The Minivan Can’t Be Faring Well
Fireworks are fun in part because of the danger and every year there are going to be a few people who have not realized that they will be short a finger or two before Independence day is over. No one appears to have lost a finger here…but the Minivan can’t be faring well.
Happy Independence Day (a few days early).
It’s Independence Day Weekend and in New Hampshire, that means at least one thing. You’ve been or are about to listen to fireworks every night for days and days.
Check out the Fireworks from the Londonderry Fish and Game Club
Virus Socialism got its wish. It shut down government-sponsored Independence Day celebrations all over the nation and right here in New Hampshire, or dialed them back. That did not, however, stop the people from celebrating.
Drone Armed With Fireworks Used to Break Up Noisy Neighbor’s Party
From a safety perspective, this is not a great idea. But check this out. Mounting, deployment, the entire execution via drone is virtually flawless.
DISQUS Doodlings – From the stack of stuff: BOOM! Ooohh….Ahhhh. You don’t need that!
8 reasons to rant about fireworks
Either I’m way late or way early for this topic: Fourth of July and fireworks.
I often just save off pages from sites on which I’ve left a comment (or WAY more) on some topic. So, time to unstack some of them (especially since Steve said WRITE!). Once again, it’s Treehugger time – they are so “pick-on-able” and this is no exception.

St. Paul MN. Celebrates Somali Independence Day But No Money For Fireworks on the 4th of July
St. Paul Minnesota’s liberal mayor (Melvin Carter) has decided that there is no money in the budget for fireworks on the 4th of July.
As I’ve considered the budgetary priorities we manage across our city in the first year of my administration, I’ve decided I can’t in good conscience support spending tax dollars on a fireworks display in Saint Paul this year.
Maggie Hassan Chooses Maine Over New Hampshire
It is legal to use firecrackers in New Hampshire (control is at the town level) but illegal to sell them here. In this end of session update, Max Abramson explains how our Democrat Gov. vetoed a simple fix and that one of the biggest opponents to legalizing the sale in NH was a retailer in … Read more
Net Neutrality, Taxes, and Fireworks
Steve was at CPAC but Skip, Mike and then Max kept things rolling with a discussion on Net Neutrality, sales and income taxes, and then–why not–trying to ban fireworks.

The New Hampshire House “focus” on budgets and jobs continues tomorrow at 2:00 pm in LOB 204 as the Criminal Justice and Public Safety committee “suffers through” another hearing room full of citizens on the critically important issue of banning things while mandating other things that will increase the cost of doing business. Paint and fireworks: what could go wrong (in Slo-Mo)?
We’ve been doing a LOT of talking about things that go boom – not just because they go boom but for the underlying reason we need them: protection against the real reason why the Second Amendment exists: tyrannical government. But sometimes, stuff that goes boom is good, if for no other reason that its FUN! … Read more
Pelham NH To Consider Ban on Driving?
After years of watching citizens and tourists of all ages fail to properly operate motor vehicles–resulting in millions of dollars in property damage, injury, and death, Pelham New Hampshire has opened a discussion about whether or not to ban driving in their town.
“Some of these accidents have scarred people for life, others have died,” said Kneejerk Reaction. “We just can’t let this continue.”
OK. I’m kidding. Sort of. Pelham is having a conversation about whether or not to ban fireworks (as predicted) after an incident this past summer in which several people were injured, and some of them were, to quote the article, scarred for life. While we wish the best for those affected, banning behaviors based on one incident like this is not wise.
Hey I slipped on a wet floor. That’s it. No more mopping!
If You Listen Closely You Will Hear The Sound of Creeping Tyranny
Any story like this has to begin with our hopes and prayers for all the injured. A Fireworks accident at a private residence in Pelham New Hampshire resulted in 11 injuries, 5 of those being children, one as young as 8 month old–according to this morning’s Union Leader. So please take a moment to offer your thoughts and prayers for their quick recovery.
Now, let us ready ourselves for the sound of creeping tyranny…
