The Avengers Movie – Frikkin Awesome!

Some people think too much when they review a movie.  Not so at GraniteGrok.  I just spent a few hours with my kids at the movies.  This is impressive because movies cost too damn much, I don’t make a lot of money, and my preference for Red Box is well documented.  For me to haul … Read more

GrokTV Special Interview: Rep. John Hikel for NH Senate – Question 1 – Has it been everything you thought in the House? glad you put the time in? Best part of being a Rep.?

GraniteGrok has known NH State Rep John Hikel for a couple of years now an have interviewed him on a number of occasions.  This time, it is a little bit different as he has decided to “up the ante” – last night at St. Anselm’s Institute of Politics, we had the chance to interview NH … Read more

GrokTV Special Event – Howie Carr at the Nashua Republican “Growing the Grassroots” Dinner – The Videos Part 1

Woke up early this morning, so the easy decision was to toddle downstairs and start processing the video from last night’s Nashua Republican City Committee event labeled “Growing the Grassroots”.  Intro ceremonies here and after the jump are the videos of the reading of US Senator Kelly Ayotte’s letter to the NRCC, Congressman Charlie Bass‘s address to the crowd, Charlie’s opponent in the primary Dennis Lamare implored the crowd to vote for him, and Kevin Smith made his pitch to be the next NH GOP nominee for NH Governor (note: NH State Senator Bob Luther was a surrogate for Ovide Lamontagne, but the it seems that my original button press to restart the recording did not really “press” – apologies.  It can be seen in the replay of the live stream (to be posted later).

The video of the Keynote Speaker for the evening, WRKO talk host and Boston Globe Columnist Howie Carr, will be posted later on today.

GrokTV Special Event – Howie Carr at the Nashua Republican “Growing the Grassroots” Dinner – The Videos Part 2

The Keynote Speaker of last night’s event was WRKO talk show host and Boston Herald syndicated columnist, Howie Carr!

The live stream recordings of the interview before the start of the event are after the jump with interviews with RNC Committeewoman Phyllis Woods, fellow Grokster Mike, NH House of Representatives Deputy Speaker Pam Tucker, and an abbreviated (as the event formally started) interview with Kevin Smith who is running to be the NH GOP nominee for NH Governor.  Also fellow blogger and talk show host at WCRN (50,000 watts!) Pete Ingemi (“DaTechGuy”) joins us at our micro “bloggers row” – we will be joining him in studio in a couple of weeks to discuss our ongoing Right To Know requests concerning the Internet escapades at the State of NH

GrokTV Special Interview – Howie Carr at the Nashua Republican “Growing the Grassroots” Dinner

After the NRCC event finished last night, I had the opportunity to have a quick interview with Howie Carr on tips on holding government accountable for its actions:

Also had the chance to talk with Jack Kimball and what is now up for the Granite State Patriot Liberty PAC, and a bonus “after event” interview from the DaTechGuy as he talks with NH Rep. Timothy Twombley.

GrokTV Special Event: Granite State Patriot Liberty PAC TEA Party – Intro Ceremonies

Yesterday the ‘Grok went to the Granite State Patriot Liberty PAC (“GSPLPAC”) “Jack is Back!” TEA Party. Meant as the start of a rallying point, a number of conservative candidates and speakers talked to a crowd that was double that which was originally expected. Sure, most of the TEA Party rolled up its sleeves and went to work politically to effect the changes it knew had to be done – and the 2010 elections were the results.  Even with that amazing result, the Dems and media kept kvetching about “well, where are you” (even as I kept saying “and the huge rallies by the Democrat / Socialist leaning Occupy Wall Street movement are – where?”.

We can be an obliging bunch.  As I said here, the expectation was 100.  I’ve been told by “official counters” that the actual attendance was just about 200 – far more than my lower range estimate of 150.

Sidenote: although not present at the rally, Jerry Delemus was mentioned often with many thanks for stepping up and stepping into the GSPLPAC Chair when Jack had his run at the NH Governorship.  GraniteGrok extends its thanks to Jerry for taking on a hard job with no notice and getting the PAC into the fray!

This video is of the intro ceremony: Invocation, Moment of Silence in honor of the slain Greenland, NH Chief of Police (Michael Maloney who died protecting his men), Honoring our Veterans, Pledge to the Flag, and the singing of the National Anthem:

Right after that, Jeff Chidester (host of “NH Perspectives” and Conserva-tarian [Conservative / Libertarian] activist) stepped into the role of Master of Ceremonies and had some introductory remarks:

GrokTV Special Event: Granite State Patriot Liberty PAC TEA Party – Conservative / Libertarian candidates make their case and ask for support

No one can accuse Ovide Lamontagne, candidate for NH GOP nomination for NH Gov.,  of sitting and waiting for that nomination to come to him.  He doesn’t feel entitled to it – he knows he as to earn it.  Here at Saturday’s GSPLPAC  TEA Party, Friday night at the AFP/NH Conservative of the Year award for Kelly Ayotte – he’s working!  He brought a message that fits the TEA Party philosophy (and the worst nightmare of Democrats / Socialists / Statists everywhere):

  • Free Markets
  • Limited Government
  • Constitutional outlook

The TEA Party can always count on the support of Ovide.

There were also others looking for TEA Party support:

  • Dennis Lamare (Republican nomination for Congress,  NH-CD2)
  • Brendan Kelly (Libertarian nomination for Congress, NH-CD1)
  • John Hikel (Republican nomination for NH Senate,  District 20)

GrokTV Special Event: GSPLPAC TEA Party – The Speakers: Natalie Healy, Gold Star Mom, and Dr. Joe Tarta

I am a double Blue Star dad which means that I have had two children serve in our Armed Services (the Eldest a Marine who did a tour in Iraq and the Youngest a tour in Afghanistan with the 101st Airborne).  I consider myself lucky and blessed – they returned home safely with just some wear and tear….but they are home.

A Gold Star Mom (and Dad) is different, for their child made the ultimate sacrifice for our Country, and in Nat’s case, for his Navy SEAL buddies.  Sr. Chief Petty Officer, US Navy SEAL Dan Healy didn’t have to go on that last helicopter ride to rescue his buddies on that Afghanistan mountain – but he did not hesitate.  But let’s let Nat tell the story far better than I:

Dr. Joe Tarta, retired physician, also spoke on Obamacare and why it won’t work as President Obama has promised.  He also talks about some of the practical bad outcomes that are already taking place and that are being noticed:

(US Senate) Democrats Still Running From The Budget

Hot Air: Only three Democrats bothered to show up at all, out of a dozen assigned to it.  Republicans showed up, prepared to cast votes to finally bring the ignominious streak of 1,085 days (as of yesterday) without a budget resolution to an end.  Sadly, Democrats — who control the committee, the chamber, and the … Read more

GrokTV Special Event: AFP/NH 2012 Conservative of the Year Award – Intro ceremonies

This past Friday, we live streamed the Americans For Prosperity / NH’s Conservative of the Year Award given to US Senator Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) for those who could not be there (either for scheduling or financial reasons).  Well, if you missed it, the entire live stream is after the jump.

Sidebar: On GraniteGrok 1.0, I could more easily put in multiple videos into a post in a side-by-side format.  I have YET to figure how that technique would work here in Grok 2.0 so I’m just going to do two or three videos per post (mostly two).

Here are the intro ceremony: Invocation, Pledge to the Flag, and the singing of the National Anthem (led by Kevin Smith, candidate for the Republican nomination for NH Governor).

Kevin also introduced Corey Lewandowski, Executive Director of AFP/NH, who served as the Master of Ceremonies:

GrokTV Special Event: AFP/NH 2012 Conservative of the Year Award – AFP/NH Executive Director Corey Lewanowski’s introductory remarks

“It’s my party and I talk if I want to!”  Heh!

Of COURSE Corey got to speak – he and his assistant Joy Lutes put a lot of time and effort into setting this up right and I think it came off well – I believe that every seat was filled in the large ballroom at the Grappone Conference Center in Concord, NH.  And while the night was all about US Senator Kelly Ayotte receiving the award, make no mistake, Corey let some chips fly concerning issues that are near and dear to AFP’s heart.  He had no hesitation on letting loose about the NH GOP SuperMajority in the Senate failing to back issues as RGGI (Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative), Right To Work, et al (good for him and well deserved whacks at NH Senators Bragdon and Bradley)

The Presidential candidates (including Obama, which draw guffaws from the crowd) were invited.  However, no one showed up (as opposed to last year’s award for Ovide Lamontagne) other than former NH Governor John Sununu who acted as a surrogate for Romney:

GrokTV Special Event: AFP/NH 2012 Conservative of the Year Award – Ovide Lamontagne, candidate for NH GOP nominee for NH Governor

AFP is, no doubt, a conservative organization that supports limited government, free markets, and lower taxes in the pursuit of enhanced individual freedom and liberty (full disclosure – I was selected to be AFP’s 2011 National Activist of the Year for GraniteGrok’s new media activities; I believe in these foundational ideas).  In being such, it … Read more
