As a suitable followup to my post on there being no Republicans for Obama, here is Conservative Republican Mayor Mia Love (running for the US House in Utah), on the American Story and how “we built it.” (c/o Hot Air)  

GrokTV: Rochester City Council – “Rochester City Councilors, just say “NO!” to the Granite State Future plan for Rochester!

Granite State Future plan – that plan by which Federalizes (via “free money”) local zoning ordinances.  And if you haven’t looked or known, they can have a LARGE effect on how you live and where / how businesses can be run.

Sidenote: From a post a while ago on when EVIL uses of ordinances by a Utopian wishing to get their way by using Govt to achieve their aim:

There is a long standing animus between a business entity called the Ames Farm and a lawyer by the name of Stephen Nix here in my hamlet.   For years now, the latter has tried to shut down parts of the operation of this 120 year cottage / restaurant / boat launch resort by using a number of legal maneuvers.  In essence, he is trying to take away one of our basic Rights, that of Private Property, from this family so as to enhance the value of his property.  Gordon Gecko has no skin on this play!

Nix’s warrant failed, but not through his lack of trying.  Federal Departments (EPA, DOT, and HUD) are trying to do the same thing by dangling easy money in front of cash hungry politicians – like gold seekers, some of the latter will do what is necessary to get that honey pot regardless of what the “strings attached” may do to the Property Rights of the taxpayers (yet another tale of Washington taking local money and saying “You can have your own money back, but only if you behave in the way we want you to (after all, we have our own version of what Utopia is – and YOUR Individual version no longer counts)).  Well, those that attended this past Tuesday’s Rochester City want this program to fail as well.  Lots of folks spoke up:

GrokTV: Rochester City Council – How DARE you spend our tax monies subsidizing Obama’s campaign!

While Doris Hinks was after one thing that the Councilors had lost $78,000 at the Community Center, a lot of other folks were after them for spending a lot less money ($9,400)  but on a much higher profile event – President Obama’s campaign stop in Rochester where the City Council just said “no big deal – let’s spend the money” without going, seemingly, through the normal and formal process.  I don’t live there (or near there) but the impression I get is that it is very much a Democrat type town.  Thus, when the informal decision was “An honor – just make the in-kind contribution to the Obama Presidential campaign just like Obama does things as President: with other peoples’ money.

Problem is, lots of people had lots of problem in their elected leaders not being sensitive to the fact that folks don’t want their taxpayer money spent in supporting political campaigns – regardless of which party the pol is from!  Here’s two; more after the jump!

GrokTV: Rochester City Council – Pleading and venting

The last post – full out complaining that the Rochester (NH) City Council should not have subsidized the Obama Presidential campaign stop by expending taxpayer monies and not billing the Obama campaign (not that he’s bothering to pay – just that kind of guy, he is).  Here are more folks going after the City Council for the same thing, but at the same time asking them that the Councilors NOT sign onto the Federal mandates (EPA, DOT, HUD) of the Sustainable Communities Initiative known here in New Hampshire as the Granite State Future plan.

GrokTV Special Interview: Sue DeLemus

I have known Sue for a few years now as a TEA Party / Rochester 9-12 Project member – and an utterly devoted person to her Bible, the US and NH Constitutions, and her guns (and her hubby, Jerry).  I guess that the Obama Administration and the NH Democrat Party would call her a bitter, clinger, extremist.  Me?  A Patriot!

A first time NH House Legislator this session (R-Rochester, Strafford 1), the ‘Grok caught up with her at last night’s Rochester City Council meeting (concerning Public Input on The Granite State Future Plan that is supporting the Obama Administration’s Sustainable Communities Initiative (spearheaded by the money carrots to change local zoning ordinance to suit the EPA, DOT, and EPA; listen to Grokster Tom as he speaks here).

GrokTV: Rochester City Council Public input on “Sustainable Communities Initiative”- Ken Eyring

Ken’s mission at the Rochester City Council meeting( as it sought Public Input on its signing onto the NH version of the Federal Government’s Sustainable Communities Initiative (“SCI”), also known locally as The Granite State Future Plan) was to start connecting the dots between all of the groups that are pushing, advocating, and agitating for the passage of the Granite State Future Plan (to supplant local control of zoning ordinances with those mandated by the Federal Govt’s HUD, EPA, and DOT).

To wit: the Conservation Law Foundation  (a partner in the Granite State Future Program) also runs the New Great Bay Coalition that is advocating for a new regional water treatment plant (which is going to cost Rochester mega buckeroonies) under the Water Sustainability Commission, whose final report will be incorporated into the Granite State Future Plan (Otherwise known as: a circular taxpayer firing squad hosted by NGOs and bureaucrats!).

Ken related a comment made during one of the Water Sustainability Commissions:

“Water and sewer rates are too cheap in the State” and at that point, a few of the Commissioners alluded to the Great Bay sewerage treatment project and chuckled that…

“The residents in those towns in that project would soon learn that  water and sewer is not cheap.”

He also brought up the fact that the Planner for Rochester, Kenn Ortmann, has a conflict; he  is also the Vice Chair of the NH Housing Finance Agency and has a fiduciary responsibility that supersedes that of his responsibility to the City of Rochester. Any further testimony by Ortmann needs to be challenged.

GrokTV Event: Belknap County Republican Committee “Contested Primaries” – NH House, District 9, Write In, Open Mic

At the end of the evening, there was one more person speaking in their own defense for their candidacy in a NH House race, and that was Harry Accornero in District 9.  He spoke alone as his opponent, Glen Dewhirst, was a no show for the evening.   Then, Dr. Chuck Fink was introduced as a write in candidated. Finally, a number of folks were allowed to speak to introduce themselves to the room’s activists even though they are not worrying about the primary – they go right to the general election.  At the end, Alan just opened up the rest of the evening as an Open Mic session.

The Human Cost of Plastic Bag Bans… (Updated – new link added)

What are the unidentified costs of banning disposable shopping bags?  I’ve been speculating for months. In this video PERC Lone Mountain Fellow Jonathan Klick argues that the presence of harmful bacteria (in reusable grocery bags whose use is mandated after plastic bag bans are put in place) creates a health cost that has not been considered.  (Hey…I know I’m just chopped liver but I considered it. a few months ago ‘What could go wrong- LA Set to Ban Paper and Plastic.’)

Mr. Klick points out that about half the reusable bags of shoppers heading in for more groceries have some form of contamination, and that the human cost could be a doubling in the number of cases of food borne illness in humans and even death as a result.

GrokTV: Conservative Republican Candidate Home Event: Kevin Leando

“Last but not least, MY favorite House candidate, Kevin Leandro from Gilford” – Barbara Aichinger.  Mine too!

I served with him this last year on the Gilford Budget Committe – he was ALWAYS thinking of the taxpayers!  No, not in “where’s their wallets” but in protecting taxpayer’s private property (their money) from those that had no problem in spending it all in the name of “It’s for the common good” or “It’s for the Quality of Life”.  He showed me an absolute bulldog sense of taking on anyone that he perceived as being in the wrong or spending for the wrong reasons.  No, he didn’t always win all of the battles, but like the Prior Marine he is, it was always find the target and move forward!

I can guarantee that he will make his presence known on the floor of the Hall of Representatives – as opposed to the other Gilford candidate (registered Independent and almost always seemingly put his finger to the wind to see which way the political winds were blowing).  Principles set, locked and loaded, you will never doubt where he will stand and never doubt his Conservative values.  My personal friend, Kevin Leandro:

Last of the three Candidates from Meredith speaking at Barbara Aichinger’s home (and the only non-incumbent of the three) was Herb Vadney.  Although he has never been in the NH House, he has been a long time Selectman in Meredith and like the others, believes that while this past session has been a good start to undo the Democrats growing State government  into Concord, growing the size of the budget, and growing the resulting Command and Control Leviathan; a return to Live Free or Die vs a Live under Govt and Wither:

And now for the last question of the night, formulated by Stella Scamman (moderator for the evening’s Seacoast Republican Women Congressional Forum).  The Candidates for this last question were in attendance were Rick Parent & Vern Clough vying for the Republican nomination in NH 1st Congressional District and   Will Dean & Dennis Lamare (“NO SHOWS” were Congressmen Frank “Stiffing the SRW at the last moment” Guinta and Charlie “It’s not worth my time” Bass).

GrokTV Event: Belknap County Republican Committee “Contested Primaries” – NH State Senate District 7

In Belknap County, there is a second NH State Senate race – that in District 7.  Here, Josh Youseff and Bill Grimm are vying to be the Republican nominee to take on the Democrat contender.  In my estimation, there is a certain divide between the two – Josh is more the Liberty & Freedom guy (and the last of our interview series with him is here; follow it backwards) while Grimm is more the Establishment guy.  Also, as you listen to the video, it is plain that Grimm is not exactly “heads on and out front” on his answers; too much equivocation for me.  And his unwillingness to commit to The Pledge is similar to one of the Democrats, Jackie Cilley (while less than that of Bill Kennedy who is opening arguing for a broadbased income tax here in NH).
