Email doodlings – a brief definition of a RINO

In an email thread I’m on, I was asked (since I missed it the first time):

So, I will ask again, What is a true conservative?  What is a RINO?

Here was my brief answer – in two parts:

Here in NH, a RINO is someone that votes contrary to the principles of the NH GOP Platform 70% of the time.  Votes that violate the major precepts of nominal GOP stances (less taxes, less government, more freedom, adherence to the Constitution) on multiple occasions warrants that title as well.

I am willing, at times, to give passes to our representatives on bills that have "traps" in them set by the opposition, whereby a vote that is seemingly cast against the platform was done to keep a worse evil from happening.

A conservative hews to traditional political values known as Constitutional.  Further, traditional cultural values are in the forefront of a conservative’s actions and mindset – which also includes those values stemming from our traditional Judeo-Christian national heritage.

There is the political – AND, in this time of a concentration on fiscal policy and laws made contrary to the Constitution, there is the social.

Go ahead, explain how being a fiscal conservative also allows for such an expansive liberal mantra as our burgeoning welfare / entitlement State? I posit…

What About Bob?

What About Bob?Congressional Candidate Bob Bestani is what you might call a well-connected ruling class insider.  He has spent years as part of the evil international banking community and he is proud of his work for the Asian Development Bank (ADB).  According to his Campaign site Bio

Until May of 2008, Bob served as the Director General of Private Sector Finance at the Asian Development Bank, a multilateral bank dedicated to alleviating poverty in Asia. In the six years in which he served in that capacity, ADB’s private sector financings and earnings grew by over 40 times their 2001 levels, while portfolio quality and earnings steadily improved. Working closely with most of the countries of Asia, the Private Sector Department grew from the smallest of ADB’s departments to the largest and most successful operating unit of the ADB. In March of 2008 the Bank’s Board adopted private sector financings as the leading priority of the ADB for the years ahead.

So what’s the big deal?  Bob worked at a major international bank that is dedicated to alleviating poverty?  Well it seems to me that if you are going to use alleviating poverty to advance your political credibility people deserve to know the potential downside of how that actually plays out in the real world.

An Open Letter to the TEA Party, Libertarians and 912 Patriots

Guest post by Derek "Mac" Kittredge, Rochester Republican City Committee

The TEA parties grew out of the accurately perceived observation that our nation was under attack from the very agency created to protect it from enemies, foreign and domestic ~ our own government! And many state and municipal governments were going rogue as well. Political auto-immune disease, if you will, with gangrene and Stage 4 bureaucracy.

The Marxists couldn’t win elections on their own merits, so they did the next best thing, they took over the Democrat Party. By 1944, Norman Thomas, a former Socialist candidate for President announced that it was no longer necessary for him to run since the Democrats had adopted his platform. Actually, the Democrats were already primed for this as they had been the party of class oriented slave owners and the Ku Klux Klan (Sen. Bob Byrd, WV(D) was the Grande Kleagle of the Klan he organized). Whereas the Republicans were the Abolitionist wing of the Whigs (1853), supporters of Universal Suffrage and abolishers of Jim Crow. We are the Constitution and Liberty party. Today, the Democrat party is totally Marxist on its way to Stalinist fielding Manchurian candidates and those useful idiots posing first as liberals then progressives. Commissars follow Tzars all too soon.

The Republican Party’s biggest problem is that the MSM, Hollywood, TV and our public education system have re-written the GOP story and hidden its mission statement by the inspired use of clever propaganda. The result is, that many Republicans become disaffected, discouraged and stay home. And lose elections. Sure we’ve had our share of opportunists and fools, but remember where the revelations of our collective faults come from. The MSM lies, slants and cherry-picks the stories. Now they are doing this to the TEA party. And America! Think what 90 years of Koolaid has done to the Republican brand. The answer isn’t purges, it’s education! And action.

Realizing this, I joined the Rochester 912 group and told them several things:

“Gov. Lynch To Business Community: NH To Reward Employee Theft”

Guest post by Andy Sanborn – small business owner and candidate for NH Senate, District 7, and has been endorsed by GraniteGrok because of stances such as this:

Governor Lynch says stealing is OK, just don’t take a lot, but if you do steal and get caught, don’t worry, the State will take care of you…  As a business owner, employer and someone who believes we should maintain a rational moral code, I can’t wrap my arms around this latest law enacted by our Governor and the legislature in Concord.  For anyone who wonders if our current crop of leaders in Concord is out of touch, maybe this is the hand in the cookie jar, so to speak.

This is just another perfect example of how twisted the perception of right and wrong is in Concord, and why so many of us want to see a change in this disappointing leadership.

Last week, the Governor signed Bill HB1168 into law, effective September 6, which will force business owners to reward employees caught stealing.  The law, filed under RSA 282-A: 35 states that an employee only commits “Gross Misconduct” if they steal more than $500 from their employer.  So, under this new law, if an employer fires an employee for stealing, the State will allow that employee to collect unemployment checks, of which that money comes from a tax assessment of all business owners in the State.

And, it’s not just if an employee steals from the boss, same thing if an employee is caught stealing from a customer, another employee or the cancer donation jar on the counter.

Until now…

John And Terry Try To Suppress Free Speech?

Granite Grok- Supporting racist vandals?Someone sent me a picture of a campaign sign with a sombrero on it.  It was a Mahoney for Congress sign.  It was, well…kind of funny, given that Mr. Mahoney stated on video that he was basically supporting the Grahamnesty path to amnesty.  He has flip flopped since then, and insists he’s for a border fence first, but it’s a campaign thing…who really knows.   But that didn’t make the sign any less amusing.  So I posted it.

As with most things a blogger posts, not everyone agrees.  And that’s kind of the point. We encourage that, but somtimes the comments are not well thought out.  For the record I posted the photo in question with no supporting text.

Why It Doesn’t Pay To Defend A Democrat

Republican House Rep Steve Vallincourt came to Tim Horrigan’s defense over his Pailn comments.  (This from this mornings Union Leader.)

“Rep. Horrigan didn’t wish anyone dead; he simply stated a political truth,” Vaillaincourt wrote. “Were Sarah Palin to die today, her myth, like actor James Dean, would surpass anything she’s done in life. If Dem officials took Rep. Horrigan to the woodshed for these remarks, they rather than he should be resigning."

In response to Vallincourt’s comments Harrel Kristein, democrat party, issued a prompt press release

"Will NHGOP Practice What They Preach? GOP Representative praises comments about the death of Sarah Palin."

“If the New Hampshire Republican Party is really concerned with abhorrent political speech, they should immediately denounce Rep. Vaillancourt’s comments and ask him to resign.”

I guess that means you can’t talk about it, even to defend Horrigan?

They Are That Stupid

Do you have them in Extra-Hypocrite?A bunch of Linden LaRouche democrats show up at Tea Party rallies with Obama Hitler signs and the progressive left tries to blame the Tea Party.  The left has made it public knowledge that they will themselves show up and pretend to be part of the Tea Party movement with racist and insulting signs or comments to prove that the Tea Party is full of racists.  They will be disruptive and destructive.  And now a movement has been announced at NetRoots that encourages the left to tell the Tea Party What you really think about them.  So they are basically going to be themselves in front of regular Americans who are not very happy with democrats right now.

Brilliant!

Over at RedState, Dan Spencer actually received a forwarded Email with the basic instructions for this latest effort against the Tea Party.

“Set aside your good manners, your tolerance, your measured understanding of policy differences, and your earnest do-gooder ideas for a [sic.] just a moment to join me in telling the Tea Party what you really think of them.”

No offense but what good manners?  And tolerance?  What tolerance would that be exactly—that you’ve not devolved into actually killing them, because I’ve seen video of people getting beat up by you guys.  How is this any less tolerant or less well mannered than anything else you and your fellow travelers have tried to perpetrate in the past eighteen months?  Don’t think too hard you’ll hurt yourselves.

Horrigan Resigns

Just about everyone who would read this probably already knows this–Tim Horrigan has resigned after posting comments about Sarah Palin on facebook in response to the discussion about Keith Halloran’s "death wish" comments.   And while the resignation is probably appropriate, the situation surrounding it has it’s own bits of intrigue.

First, the comment that got Mr. Horrigan in trouble on Halloran’s facebook post–the one that is posted at NowHampshire and on the Granite Status, is not the only one.  A second version appeard briefly on a seperate facebook post–since deleted it seems and no I did not do a screen capture–but I did copy and paste the text into the comments section of my previous post on the matter while looking for the original.  Here’s that comment.

"ironically a dead Sarah Palin would’ve been much more of a problem for the left than the living one is. her myth has very little to do with anything she has ever said, done or accomplished. in fact, she isn’t actually DOING anything now. s…he doesn’t even SAY anything aside from "you betcha" and "mama grizzly." all she ever accomplished was to help McCain blow the 2008 election. she’s just a blank wall on which some people project their hopes and some others, like the unfortunate Keith David Halloran, project their hatred"

The wording is very similar to the orignal, though with more detail.  Sorry I did not get the capture–but what does it mean?  He took the time to write it twice. It wasn’t just a fluke spur of the moment thing. Whatever that portends, he has since apologized and resigned his seat and his re-election. I’d say he means it.

But is that all there is to say?
