A request from Frank Guinta (R-NH) on the Debt Ceiling

We sent him to cut spending, cut the size of Government, and cut its intrusiveness as well.  Already, Frank and his staff are putting things into place to try to keep his promise: to be the peoples’ Representative. 

He completed one item – he voted to repeal the deficit inducing / Government Growing / Liberty killing Obamacare:

“I repeatedly told the people of New Hampshire last fall that I would vote against this misguided piece of legislation, and today I delivered on it…It exceeds the limits of the Constitution, places unfair and unrealistic burdens on small business owners, inserts the government into your relationship with your family doctor, and sinks Washington even deeper into debt.”

An associated item that Obamacare does is accelerates the growth of the Debt Ceiling (remember, it was sold on 10 years of revenue but only 6 years of spending – TILT!).  We are now over $14 Trillion in debt and the Obama Administration is on track to add another $1.3 Trillion this year – 3 years of Trillion+ dollar deficits!  The problem is that Obama is framing this as an all or nothing venture – either we keep spending at that rate or the Government shuts down.

Nonsense – they could do what my family does or when I ran a small biz when money got tight – line up the bills, schedule them as needed, pay those on time, and cut the rest.  Certainly, Obama could do the same thing; just ask yourself -> when it snows in DC, why are all non-essential US Govt workers told to stay home – and then DC looks like a ghost town?  If they are non-essential then, why have them the rest of the time?  If the jobs they do are not absolutely necessary (want, not need), isn’t that a sign that Govt is doing too much with too many at too high of a cost?

In this case, Frank is looking input:

  • Vote a higher debt ceiling?
  • Shut it all down?
  • A better answer?

The Debt Ceiling Vote: STOP THE MADNESS NOW!

There’s a heated discussion going on all over America. It’s about the upcoming vote on whether to "raise the debt ceiling" so that Congress and the political/government/ruling classes can continue spending money we don’t have…WE DON’T HAVE IT! But…there are always "excuses" to continue DOING THE WRONG THING. NH Republican Reps. A Compromise?

Weapons of mass destructionThere is a very touching bit of sympathy-searching in the Union Leader’s My Turn editorial today.  Eric Merklin, husband of State House Rep Tara Sad (D-Walpole) cranks up the left wing fantasy-template on State House violence and goes fishing.

He is ‘worried’ that someone in the gallery could shoot his wife.

Does Eric realize that his wife, the third term House member, sat there in the well for years under the sights of armed observers while the democrats controlled the body, and no one tried to shoot anyone? Given what the progressives did you’d think that was the threshold opportunity for all those right wing crazies.  Balloon fines, bathroom bills, gay marriage, fines, fees, taxes, more taxes,  yet no gun battles.  He does troll out the HCR6 shouting to make the point that yelling is the gateway drug to gunning down innocent people in the House chamber despite the lack of evidence to support it, but if yelling leads to gun violence why are there still progressives walking around heating up the planet with their exhaled exhortations to ban guns?  They should have wiped themselves out by now?

So we have several years with nobody crying a public river about the risk of bloodshed in Concord’s hallowed halls until it appeared to be politically convenient, which makes the "it’s all about safety" shtick smell like rovers little donation to renewable fertilizers–which I think got a green energy grant through RGGI if I remember correctly. Its got that disingenuous feel that reeks of populist fear-mongering of the sort only the right can ever be guilty of.

This also leaves us wondering what’s next after a State House ban we didn’t need then…but have to have now? (Well, not really.  We know what comes next but just play along.)

Bend It For The Benjamins

As a follow up to this, yesterday or maybe the day before, the NH Journal (NHJ), New Hampshire’s prominent internet news source if the news is whatever Hynes communications is being paid to call news, decided to float a lie called pin the conservative blogger to Jack Kimball.  Someone the NH Journal staff knew would stir the pot was fingered as Kimball’s communications director if he won the job as GOP State party chairman, even though no one–including Kimball and the blogger–knew anything about it until after the digital ink was dry.

The goal for Hynes and Millerick, (owner and editor respectively at NHJ)  appear to have been to send the RINO’s into a mad stampede.  RINO’s stampede easy so it worked.  Some RINO’s were so miffed, and wanting so badly for just such a story to jump on, they picked up the lie and ran with it. (Just like a progressive if that’s not too provocative a statement to make.)

There was a bit of damage control but once it’s out there, it is out there, no different than when CNN or MSNBC does it.  But the story did not end there.

Sullivan’s New Hampshire

Sullivan's NH -Burning down the houseThe ‘Su’ in Suckly, Kathy Lawsuit’ Sullivan, has a regular editorial in the Union Leader.  I have no idea why but after reading it and taking a shower to get the brimstone smell off of me, I have to make an arbitrary decision as to whether I should comment.  Normally I do not.  Her template is the recipe for left wing baby formula and so unoriginal I could probably find it in every other paper in the country with the word New Hampshire replaced with (insert name of your state here.)  But this time she closed her ditty with the words…"They are about to destroy the New Hampshire we love."

This is red meat-bait for right wing carnivores.  It begs the obvious question, ‘"what New Hampshire do they love," they being Sullivan and the far left democrats, and history has been kind enough to provide us with an answer.

Why Jack?

You know what I’m talking about here – I’m talking about the next Chair of the NH GOP, and about the direction this Party takes over the next couple of years, too.  While we’re at it, consider these arguments when thinking about the next NH RNC Committeeman.

Here’s where my thinking takes me on the subject:

Recent Republican History

Republicans lost their way, somewhere between “read my lips”, immigration "reform", David Souter, rare stamps, the "New World Order", No Child Left Behind, NAFTA/CAFTA, and “sure, TARP sounds like a good idea.”  And to be honest, both Bush Presidents were closet-globalists.

It’s no wonder we’re angry; angry with Obama and the Progressives, then angry at those who didn’t push government growth and spending back to 1850-levels BEFORE Obama and his minions got their hands on the national checkbook.

As a country, we are fiscally screwed, upside-down, and inside-out, and so many Republicans in DC helped mix the mortar of the concrete shoes Obama just put on us, ever-so-ready to give us a little shove off the pier.  Honestly, I’m not sure there aren’t a couple of RINOs standing by to help him do it.

We needed better than that then, and we need better than that now.

To me, Gov. Sununu smacks of this era – being dead-center in GHW Bush’s staff and NH Governor – a virtual life of politics.  He can make claims to appreciate these “new Republicans” to the obedient press and even invite a couple of “safe” activist groups into his tent, but I honestly don’t get the feeling that he fully appreciates the active, liberty-oriented crowd.  Our problem is that we say what’s bothering us, and we aren’t afraid to call anyone out – Sununu and RINOs, or anyone who doesn’t follow the Conservative path.  If you think about it, that’s the Tea Party community’s biggest contribution to the game – someone had to finally do it.  And Gov. Sununu’s just never took steps to make us feel like he’s in OUR tent.

If he were smarter about this, he would have offered a powwow caucus, making nice with us all a long time ago (pre-election) – and it probably would have worked out for him.  Now, he’s whining to the press about us being “divisive” when we simply dare to challenge fellow Republicans – those days are long gone, Governor.

And so, Juliana is his hand-picked, endorsed successor.  She could be Mother Theresa, but she’s John Sununu’s Mother Theresa, which rubs me the wrong way.

It’s A Shameless Capitalist Endorsement!

Adros EnergyI have invested some time and (renewable) energy arguing against federal subsidies and hand outs to prop up businesses that make environmentalists and their democrat sugar daddies happy.  My primary objective with "green" energy projects has not been the business itself or even the goal, but the way in which the state and federal government uses our money to pick winners and losers or to incentivise things.

So it only seems fair to point out when someone is trying to advance alternative energy the right way.   I recently met the guys who run Adros Energy in Amherst New Hampshire.  Theirs is a veteran owned company that does home energy audits, and specializes in hybridizing or combining clean energy systems like solar, thermal and wind together to free people from the control of government regulations over energy and what usually amounts to some kind of monopoly on power and pricing by one or few providers.

Tweet in my ear – so, not satisfied with one bite of the apple, eh?

More incoming: you know, if people were happy with the anointing of Juliana Bergeron, why would this even be a story?  

The Nashua City Republican Committee Meeting was this past week and it was a heavily attended meeting. The invited speaking schedule:

  • Radio host Jeff Chidester,
  • State Senator Jim Luther
  • State Senator Gary Lambert
  • Jack Kimball

Well before it started, Juliana Bergeron swept in encircled by some of her supporters with JULIANA stickers. Some members immediately commented how “crass” the stickers were. 

Me?  A big deal?  Stickers?  Running for the NH GOP Chair and showing up at (gasp!) a meeting of Republicans where some might actually be Members that could vote for her on Saturday for NH GOP Chair?  I’d be shocked if she didn’t…

Oh wait! Shades of a Christmas Card? 

There were comments swirling around the meme that they were surprised to see Juliana again as she was not a regular attender of their meeting.  In fact, the only other time she had appeared at their  meeting was when she appeared as a speaker in at their previous meeting in December.

Some felt it was “disrespectful,” and was meant to “tweak” Jack (which it did not).

Sounds like some Republicans around here – show up for a couple of meetings just before an election, never see them again. However, as they say in the infomercials: "But wait – there’s more!"

The members became even more upset when Juliana Bergeron campaign manager, Liz Christoffersen approached the committee and “demanded” that Juliana be afforded “equal” time to address the audience (since Jack was there).  Liz was reminded that Juliana had already had her turn as she had already talked to the group back in December; fair was fair and tonight was Jack’s turn to address the members. Liz then insisted that Juliana be given at least a few minutes to say “hi.” Again, Liz was reminded that Juliana already had her chance and that it would not be fair to Jack.

OK.  That’s the job – persistence and advocating.  I do think that the Committee had it right – equal opportunity.  One try is fine, twice should have been enough; having done so, you’ve shown and done what you should have.  The correct thing to have at that point was to accept "the loss", be polite, accept the fact that the Committee has made the rule, and abide by it.

International Baccalaureate in Bedford: indoctrination against America? Look at its own materials

Not only is Bedford immersed in controversy over a pro-Marxist anti-Christian book assigned in the Personal Finance class, Juniors and Seniors are offered classes from the controversial International Baccalaureate Program (IB) too.  It seems you are either for or against IB in Bedford.

One of the biggest problems with IB is, its ability to divide the community. When a school implements a program that is laced with political overtones, it’s sure to ruffle the feathers of taxpayers.  That’s exactly what’s happened in Bedford.

IB is in partnership with the education arm of the United Nations: (UNESCO).  The U.N. is a controversial organization in its own right.  From lobbying for Cap-n-Trade to anti-Americanism, this organization comes with controversial political baggage.
 
Some residents over the past year have raised concerns over the IB program.  Some have taken their message to the local papers others have e-mailed school board members to voice their opposition to an expensive program that many see as a method to politically indoctrinate students.
 
Bedford residents have been told that IB can be "Bedfortized".  The local school has the authority to guide students through the IB course of study.  However IB’s own documentation states clearly that the IB program must carry out the IB mission.  One needs to dig a little deeper to truly understand the mission of IB and how their mission does not always support the foundation of our U.S. Republic.
