Most everyone will know by now that the GOP convention was a rousing affair, very goodhearted and unifying overall, and that Jack Kimball is the New Party Chairman.
The final vote was roughly 222 to 199 plus or minus one or two. I’ve heard several sets of numbers but the difference amounts to 20 votes. What is interesting about that is the number of electors who presented themselves. A total of 426 Republican electors voted for chairman, a number not seen in recent or even distant memory.
This is as important as the outcome. As we gather behind the platform and the people chosen or appointed to coordinate that effort, we need the same kind of commitment tomorrow and every day after as that which motivated these folks to get up on a cold January morning to spend their Saturday at Pinkerton Academy in Derry. We need them to participate. We need them to motivate others. And we need them to hold the party and each other accountable.
