Why should I apologize for my Faith?  Why are my Family Values wrong?  And what is so dang wrong with having our NH Government govern within the bounds of the NH Constitution?  And why do our national politicians ignore the rather clear values enumerated in the US Constitution when they come up with laws that the rest of us have to obey?  If I reject my Faith, I lose my salvation.  If I ignore my Family, I will lost it.

Do you wonder why we are losing our State and Country?

Values matter – they are what drive us.  Yet, we who are traditionalists are told, over and over, that they no longer matter.  That they are outdated and are of no value and that we must adopt Progressive values that will lead us “forward”.  My question is “to what does that forward lead to?” – and there never is an answer.

The nuance of this “WILL” is more of a command versus describing a level of future emotions to come.  Sustainable Communities Initiative – the Federal Government’s way (e.g. HUD, EPA, DOT) to federalize local zoning ordinances to result in their idea for a more “efficient” society (remember, Progressives are all about “efficient” societies – planned from the top down, it is their version of a Utopia that never mentions “Freedom” or Liberty”).  Once again, my favorite pincushion Treehugger has a post on how to make cities “better”.  All they have to do is to have “Smart People” design it for us using a set of new principles called “Transit Oriented Development” (TOD):

• WALK | Develop neighborhoods that promote walking
• CYCLE | Prioritize non-motorized transport networks
• CONNECT | Create dense networks of streets and paths
• TRANSIT | Locate development near high-quality public transport
• MIX | Plan for mixed use
• DENSIFY | Optimize density and transit capacity
• COMPACT | Create regions with short commutes
• SHIFT | Increase mobility by regulating parking and road use

Once again, I dryly note: not designed around the idea of “people”?  Or are they merely chess pieces that have no minds, attributes, or needs of their own?  Now the author, Lloyd Alter and I have had some tiffs in the past (probably why I’m still banned from commenting) and he certainly is one that believes that we MUST live with less and we MUST live “urbanely” (he certainly loves the urban setting and doesn’t understand why the rest of us don’t – and I lived in one of the most walkable cities in the Nation: Boston).   He keeps sneering at those of us who believe there is a “conspiracy” around Agenda 21.  Yet, in this post he certainly lets the cat out of the bag with part of this post (emphasis mine):

The Democrats would like to Give America A Raise.  That was what Obama promised in his state of the union. When Democrats feel the need to do something, their first act is to plunder someone else to pay for it, whatever it is.  But there are plenty of other ways to give America a raise.

Complying with the mountains of government regulations is now estimated at equivalent costs equal to $14,000.00 per American, per year.  Eliminating that cost would be equal to saving every one in the country a wage of seven dollars per hour (in an average 40 hour work week)–including people who are not working, or too young to work.

The US Department of Education cost taxpayers about 70 billion per year.  Assuming the states could do the same thing for less, and why couldn’t they, if we could cut most of that cost from the Federal budget, and shift any necessary responsibility into existing state agencies, we could give America another raise.

This is timely, because I am polishing up a post titled “The Battle of Competing Resentments” that plays well with the real world example of Carl DeMaio.  DeMaio is running for congress.  He’s started and sold two businesses.  He has been elected to his city council.  He has the kind of pull-yourself up life-story most Democrats have only pretended to have, and he is homosexual.  He is also a California Republican, running for office in California who has tried to focus on fiscal issues and things that matter to all americans but the “tolerant” left can’t tolerate his being a Republican so they’ve made the race about his being gay.

One false attack drew the attention of the San Diego Ethics Commission. An anonymous left-wing group funded a SuperPac and sent mailers of DeMaio Photoshopped next to a drag queen to neighborhoods with a majority of elderly and African-American voters, knowing that such a photo would depress support for DeMaio.

And so did my company just a bit ago! Yeah California – you moved a company that US-based itself in California since it came here from Japan in the 1950’s.  I guess the mounting taxes and regulations made it easy to hear the siren sound of Gov. Rick Perry’s call for a more business friendly environment in Texas.  At some point, that IS going to make a difference.  So, Texas / Rick Perry 1 – California / Jerry Brown 0.  From the LA Times (emphasis mine, reformatted):

Toyota Motor Corp. plans to move large numbers of jobs from its sales and marketing headquarters in Torrance to suburban Dallas, according to a person familiar with the automaker’s plans.  The move, creating a new North American headquarters, would put management of Toyota’s U.S. business close to where it builds most cars for this market. North American Chief Executive Jim Lentz is expected to brief employees Monday, said the person, who was not authorized to speak publicly. Toyota declined to detail its plans. About 5,300 people work at Toyota’s Torrance complex. It is unclear how many workers will be asked to move to Texas. The move is expected to take several years.

A national organization that examines public school drop out rates has just graded New Hampshire.  We got an 86% (UL-Secret hand shake required).  That might sound good until you recall that Governor Maggie Hassan’s predecessor claimed the rate had dropped below 1%.  This means that under Maggie Hassan, Drop out rates have skyrocketed. (Why aren’t they reporting that?)

How?  Why? What happened?

One of the problems with Democrats plying language to create perception is that if you do not let everyone in on the scam, or someone from outside comes along and does not have the sense to propogate your deception further , the perception you worked so hard to foster can get away from you.  Put another way, the Lynch administration lied and now Democrat Maggie Hassan looks like a stooge.

The, let me correct myself, OUR children in middle school in Bedford were assigned a survey to complete. Of course Bedford being a liberal, enlightened public school the survey asked about minors and their ideas about sex. You knew it would, right?

One question about this “survey” would be this. Who was it really for?

Want to guess it was for a data mining company or some non-profit paid to survey OUR children. (“OUR children” is how public monopoly school children are perceived by those who are part of the system, not the children of the parents forced to send them to the monopoly school. This is why there are surveys like this.)

I don’t think so, given that environmentalists want that “pristine, noble savage environment for us all – nothing nowhere for nobody”:

The Energy Department released a report Tuesday identifying streams ripe for hydropower development in hopes of meeting an Obama administration goal of doubling electricity from that source by 2030.  The Oak Ridge National Laboratory analysis concluded that currently undeveloped streams could support roughly 65 gigawatts of new hydropower. Streams on lands currently under federal protection could host an additional 19 gigawatts, the report said.

Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz, speaking at a Washington conference hosted by the National Hydropower Association, said that amounted to more than double current production levels.  It’s time to “pull the cover off this hidden renewable right in front of our eyes,” Moniz said.

Sure, the want us all to disavow all fossil fuel usage but after accomplishing that, streams and rivers will be next.  It will always be a racheting downward on energy supply and usage – regardless of the demand demanded by the rest of us sane folks.  Remember, that bait fish that the Greenies so love in California has decimated the most productive growing area in the US.  Water for fish, no water for the food that feeds the world.

I can’t help thinking that the  Democrat “big oil is trying to buy the senate thing” is an opportunity for us to make a very important point about the fundamental flaws in Democrat thinking about energy and special breaks.

First, we ought to be able to agree that any business or individual that is taxed or regulated might have an interest in why, how much, and for what purpose.  Taxes take away a portion of your legitimate earnings and regulations create costs that affect your ability to do business.  There is room for debate about the need for both taxes and regulations, and to what degree, but that debate has to include the idea that government, left to its own devices, will inevitably over tax and over regulate unless those paying its freight (or their political surrogates) argue effectively against it.

We also have to accept that there is a difference between a business that is just trying to get the government off their back and a business that is looking to get on the government’s back.  The former is what big oil is (for the most part) asking for,while the latter is what keeps a majority of so-called green energy projects treading water until they (for the most part) go under.
