The NH HB1360 ban, also known as the “none of us are competent enough do things in our vehicle bill,”is heading to Governor Nanny Hassan’s desk. It will very likely become law, after which, based on the insanity of the language in this bill, no driver under 18 will be permitted to turn a radio on or off, or change the station, without risk of being pulled over and receive a fine, unless they first park, stop and turn off the vehicle. (It could be interpreted that way.)
IV. No person less than 18 years of age shall use a cellular or mobile telephone or other mobile electronic device, whether hands-free or not, while driving a motor vehicle in motion or temporarily stopped in traffic upon any way, except to report an emergency to the enhanced 911 system or any public safety agency. A person violating this paragraph shall be subject to the fines in paragraph III and license suspension or revocation under RSA 263:14, III.
While a number of devices are mentioned, and hand-held is specified, mobile is not. But everything in a car is mobile. There are also a number of electronic devices, none of them hands free, including the ignition system, lights, and the entertainment system. (Isn’t language fun?!)
It would be interesting to see how that might (could, will) be interpreted under any given set of circumstances by officers who might be looking for an excuse to pull over a kid in their car.
While there are allowances for “adults’ with regard to electronic devices none of them apply to drivers under 18.
Certainly the news of the day is the Gilford School Board (“GSB”) making asses of themselves and painting the picture that Gilford has a rather arrogant set of elected officials running its Government Schools. It is certainly true that the treatment of Dr. William “Billy” Baer by the Board (and his subsequent arrest, video by Josh Youseff and posted by Steve here) has gone viral. I warned the Gilford Superintendent that it would – on TV news shows, national shows, national level blogs; it has gone on and been on everywhere. While there are some that have tried to defend the GSB, most have taken the side of Dr. Baer, taking umbrage that a citizen trying to seek answers, seek redress and to hold accountable his elected officials, is so frustrated that he cannot be quiet by their efforts to stonewall him.
Thus, it was with amusement that a Lynne Horton sent this in – my emphasis on where I believe her to be wrong:
The Federal Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights has launched an investigation of 55 Universities, including Dartmouth College. Why? The statistically exorbitant number of sexual assaults on campus, and the apparent failure of the universities in question to do anything serious about them, creates a sexually discriminatory environment in violation of Title IX.
Apparently the same young women who are encouraged to parade around in public with signs that say “this slut votes,” who demand free contraception and taxpayer-funded abortions, are exposed to pornography as literature in public school assaulted constantly by a sexually promiscuous media culture, (alongside libido obsessed young men happy to take advantage of the circumstances) are increasingly victims of an epic college rape culture.
The DoE Office of Civil Rights thinks this could be affecting the ability of young women to enjoy an equal learning experience at these Propaganda Whore Houses of Liberal Relativism and Degrees in Gender Studies.
Carol Shea-Porter is the Democrat parties representative to NH CD-1 and there are rules. Friendly, left leaning media may record in her benevolent presence, constituents may not record the Congresswoman.

I am late on putting up the videos for the Belknap County Convention (Delegation) concerning its budget process (H/T: Rosemary!). In the process of setting up and then uploading Part 3 (re: NH State Rep Dennis Fields has a meltdown at its end), I noticed the number views received by speakers and candidates on the video I took at the NH GOP Annual Meeting this past Saturday (posts linked after the jump) and I was surprised at who got the most views in each race. So I figured that this “informal indirect polling” may be of interest to others, so here it is as of tonite (yes, I’ll wait a while and then put up any updated numbers).

From the Gilford SAU 73 website is this “news” release from the Gilford School Board (note: it is a Google doc so you need a Google account to view it there – screenscraped for posting) and there is a part of it I find most curious in its wording:
Did you catch the DISTURBING part? You know, I haven’t even commented on either videos that Steve has put up of either Bill Baer or his daughter, but this line is indicative of that commentary-to-happen as it totally (having to put up with these self-serving, arrogant, NH School Board butt-kissers for years now) encapsulates their attitude and disdain towards:
Anyone that challenges their authority
Anyone that challenges “their” school staff, policies, and lack of achievement (given how much taxpayer $$$ is shoveled into it’s maw
Parents that give off a whiff of “not going along to get along”

“Human” formerly known as David Montenegro
Cops Lie. That is the opinion that Robert Montenegro desired to express through obtaining a vanity plate through the New Hampshire Division of Motor Vehicles. Montenegro, who has legally changed his name to “Human” sought to obtain the plate in 2010. He was denied by the NH DMV who, according to the Union Leader, characterized the plate as, “insulting.”
Mr. Human immediately appealed to the Director of Motor Vehicles on May 5 and was denied an appeal informing him that, “a reasonable person would find COPSLIE offensive to good taste,” citing administrative rule, Saf-C 514.61(c)(3) says a vanity plate shall not be “ethnically, racially or which a reasonable person would find offensive to good taste.”
Mr. Human sought other vanity plate choices and the DMV did issue him, New Hampshire Vanity Plate, GR8GOVT. Thereafter, Mr. Human sought an injunction through Strafford County Superior Court seeking issuance of the COPSLIE plate and enjoining the DMV from recalling it. Judge Lewis (we could have guessed it) denied the injunction, upholding the states denial of the plate.
Finally four years later Mr. Human took this appeal to the Supreme Court and it was heard. The Supreme Court summarily found the restriction unconstitutional finding, “the state regulation is unconstitutionally vague because it is “so loosely constrained” that it “authorizes or even encourages arbitrary and discriminatory enforcement.”
The NH Democrat House agreed with the NH Democrat Republican Senate and approved the Cell Phone Ban. HB 1360 forces you to acquire hands free technology in your vehicle except for your radio, environmental controls, coffee mug, make-up, lunch, random hands free hand gestures, operating windows or door locks, smoking, searching for items in the back seat, fetching that last french fry you dropped, responding to a disgruntled child…you get the point.
(Union Leader) The bill would ban the hand-held use of a cell phone, GPS, i-Pad or other communication device while operating a vehicle, sitting at a stop sign or stopped in bumper-to-bumper traffic, unless there is an emergency.
Hands-free use by speaker phone, BlueTooth or onboard car phone would be allowed, as would handsfree use of a GPS or other electronic device. Using a two-way radio is allowed under the bill.

A long time ago, the Left began calculating ways to do this. The most promising demographic was college students. They are reliably liberal, reliably malleable, and move temporarily in large numbers. In 1972, the ACLU’s New Hampshire chapter brought aclass action suitin U.S. District Court on behalf of an out-of-state Dartmouth college student who was denied the right to vote in NH because he informed authorities he intended to leave NH upon graduation. The judge ruled that out-of-state students could vote in NH, as long as they were “domiciled” in NH.
Black’s Law Dictionarydefines “Domicile” as “not for a mere special or temporary purpose, but with the present intention of making a permanent home, until some unexpected event shall occur to induce him to adopt some other permanent home.” Normally, your domicile is where you live permanently, where you are licensed to drive, where you pay taxes, are called for jury duty, etc. That is usually not a college dorm.

Michael “Nanny” Bloomberg and PR Hack Shannon Watts
I’ve never heard the word, but I like it. and it aptly fits Bloomberg’s anti-gun maven, Shannon Watts. Aside from somebody who obviously didn’t get enough attention when she was a kid, Watts is a phony…a charlatan…a poser. According to their own website, Moms Demand Action formed within a day of the Newtown Massacre with Shannon Watts as its founder.
Watts description is that of a 42-year-old mother of five children who is a, “stay-at-home” mom in the idyllic Indianapolis Suburb of Zionsville. And, Prior to her current noble mission Watts enjoyed a 15-year career as a communications exec in public relations and for some Fortune 500’s.
