The shooting death in Brentwood of a local police office is a national story, not just because of that tragedy but because a house that caught fire exploded with video cameras rolling.
(NH) Attorney General Joseph Foster announced Monday night that Officer Stephen Arkell, 48, was shot and killed when he entered the home at 46 Mill Pond Road in response to a call about a domestic dispute. –WMUR
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of officer Arkell. The shooter, Michael Nolan, died in the fire and explosion. His father, Walter Nolan (86 years old), the owner of the home, was treated for unspecified injuries. Fire and rescue were reported to have prevented the blaze from damaging any other homes in the neighborhood.
We are still awaiting further details about the disturbance and those involved.
