The Supreme Court, with two Justices noting dissents, on Wednesday afternoon allowed North Carolina to bar voters from registering and casting their ballots on the same day, and to refuse to count votes that were cast in the wrong polling places.  Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Sonia Sotomayor dissented.  The majority did not explain its action.

The order gives the state time to file an appeal from lower-court rulings striking down those two provisions, which were part of a larger, sweeping change in voting rights in the state.  If the Court grants review of the state’s appeal, the postponement will remain in effect until there is a decision.

Perfect!  Here in NH at the last election, we saw an incredible 100,000 same day registrations (where we have about 890,000 voters) – and finally being pushed into to, letters were sent out to verify those registrations – a LOT were undeliverable and no-returns, so voter fraud happens here as well.

Mark Shiffman, one of our friendliest rivals or least rivalrous friends at Front Porch Republic has posted some important reflections on Christian personhood and limited government.  Here’s a major take-away:

Over the course of the history of “Christendom” the consensus of limited government has been developed and maintained by the fact that the communion of personhood which constitutes the human transcendence of the state’s purview is sustained and publicly acknowledged in practices belonging to “civil society” (i.e. non-state practices and institutions).  That consensus is now disappearing, because the practices that cultivate and sustain our experiential awareness of our transcendent personhood are ceasing to shape our souls.

This is very well said in my view, and for that matter, just plain true.   The trick embedded in this formulation is a fragile dialectic between transcendence and immanence, religion and politics.  Liberty depends upon “personhood” understood as grounded in a personal God who absolutely transcends the political realm (and its “civil religion”); but at this same time this ground must be “public acknowledged” — it must be anchored in beliefs and practices that are shared by and authoritative for an actual community.  ”Civil Society” is the apparently simple name that we use for this fragile dialectic which holds together the beyond and the concretely authoritative.

We’d like to give Senator Sharon Carson the benefit of the doubt, but it is tough when her husband Gregory Carson is the lead lawyer and representative for HUD in NH.

When anyone questions the Granite State Future program, he is the one they send to put out the fires and quell the ‘myths’. (…)(So) you have to wonder why his wife, Senator Sharon Carson, was sponsoring legislation to establish “the board of building officials for the certification and regulation of persons enforcing the state building code and conducting building inspections.”

(…)  We couldn’t help but think this was yet another tactic in a multi-pronged attack on our local control, a measure being taken to ensure that the ‘board’ is zoning ordinance friendly, that is to say, zoning ordinances that come with or are changed by participation in federal grants such as Granite State Future.

SB 315 went to interim study (put out to pasture), but was it because New Hampshire has too many certification boards/committees (Occupational cartels) already?

It’s just a fetus, right?  Right Democrats?  A wart in the womb.  It doesn’t have rights.  It isn’t a person.  That’s what you claim.  It is nothing of consequence.

I mention this because the Shaheen campaign is challenging then Massachusetts Senator Scott Brown for his support of an informed consent bill in 2005 that could include asking women to look at color photographs of a fetus before terminating one.

Scott Brown is on the Democrats side on so many issues, but lets skip that for the time being because this political stretch by Shaheen should be a problem for Democrats and here’s why.

Unless you’ve been holed up in a cave and not paying attention to the elections coming up, you will have noticed that Democrats in New Hampshire – Shaheen, Shea-Porter, Kuster and Hassan – believe women are nothing more than talking vaginas.  Apparently to these ‘women’, the only thing female voters care about has to do with our uteri.

Forget jobs, economy, health care, illegal immigration, Common Core or foreign policy.  Those things aren’t important to stupid little women voters.  No, what these Democrats focus on is birth control and abortion.   As if women don’t have access to either and as if EITHER are ever going to be taken away.  Newsflash:  No one is trying to ban EITHER birth control or abortion.

I am so sick of being treated like these are the most important issues for women that I was *gasp* considering voting for Scott Brown as a hate vote against Shaheen for treating me like a talking vagina.  Alas, Brown came out with a youtube rebuttal against Shaheen’s painting him as against women in which he states that he’s pro-choice (I don’t care) and that he is for continually funding Planned Parenthood.

Well you done f’d up on that one Scott.  Planned Parenthood is one of the most vile, despicable and disgusting organizations in the country.  Not only do they victimize young girls who have been victimized but women have died getting abortions in their care and they teach young teen girls that it’s OK to urinate and poop on their boyfriends (I couldn’t make that up if I tried).   How ANYONE could support this organization is beyond pale.  Anyone who supports Planned Parenthood is the true hater of women and yes that includes every single Democrat who is backed by them and any Republican who is backed by them or supports them.

Recently, “His Excellency” [NH constitution Part Second, Art 41: ] Governor Margaret Hassan proudly proclaimed that we had a budget surplus. Here She pontificates about how well her administration has done.

HOWEVER, within a very short two days, the “Kool Aid® drinking binge” had completely worn off and Governor Margaret Hassan sent out this press release:

CONCORD –Taking fiscally responsible action to maintain a balanced budget in light of revenues falling below bipartisan projections, Governor Maggie Hassan today sent a letter to agency heads directing state agencies to submit plans to reduce their budgets for Fiscal Year 2015.

So Maggie Hassan’s “surplus” is a lot like New England weather; just wait a moment, it’ll be a deficit.

Police had stopped him and a friend on the city boardwalk as they carried their loaded pistols in the open.
