Blogline of the Day: benefits and flaws

“The free-market system lets you notice the flaws and hides its benefits. All other systems hide the flaws and show the benefits.”

Outsiders take over GOP

That’s the headline at The Hill (via Instapundit) – and I do believe that the Establishment is in full disarray (and anger) over the developments in the 2016 Presidential Primary races.  No, not all are expressing it, or if they are, it is in words that have a heavy, heavy veneer over them.  Yet, there are a lot of Establishmentarians that are full in revolt – and if you watch Fox, you have watched George Will have as much of an emotional meltdown as he ever has.

It’s like they believe they own the Party or something.  They DO believe they own your votes – that is clear.  What did The Hill have to say (reformatted, emphasis mine)?

Outsiders who have never before held political office are dominating the race for the Republican presidential nomination.

If you look at the most recent poll, I would say that fully 5 of the top 7 are certainly either non-politicians or non-establishmentarians: Trump, Carson, Cruz, then Bush (Est.),  Huckabee, Walker, Fiorina.  Am willing to quibble on Huckabee and while Cruz is a sitting senator, he is certainly outside of the DC Repub clique and the Establishment one.

“…Greatest sins a government…”

“Burn this into your cerebral cortex: The two greatest sins a government can impose on its citizens are to 1) provide for them, because it destroys their souls by creating dependency instead of self-reliance, and 2) take the sweat, hard work and equity of one man and give it to another (e.g., spread the wealth … Read more

California’s Sexual Consent Trap Back in The News

Medicaid expansion is a trapCalifornia Drunk College Girl propositions California Drunk College Guy. Drunk Guy does not say no.

Later, no longer Drunk Girl accuses no longer Drunk Guy of sexual assault.

Such was the case at Occidental College, where both students in an incident were likely too drunk to consent under the standard, and by witness accounts the accuser initiated the sexual activity. But once she filed a claim, the responsibility to prove consent fell on the accused student.

BlogHeadline of the Day

On the [in]famous occasion of Obama rewarding the totalitarian regime of the Marxist Castro brothers: The Stars and Stripes Surrender to Castro in Havana

RULE 4: “Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules.”

In this day of absolute insanity on college campuses (campi?) from the Left’s censorship via Political Correctness, the Obama Administrations destroying the idea of due process when accused and being judged by a jury of your peers (as opposed to an academic Star Chamber), and the feminists’ perpetual victimhood and that the victim MUST always be judged to be innocent and the accused guilty…

…this is the PERFECT defense (Politically correct liberal progressives of the micro-aggressed persuasions heads will explode – in confusion…

Well, bless her heart…

“While donning a hoop skirt on occasion may not constitute a hate crime (whether it is a crime of fashion is another matter), make no mistake: The Southern belle performances routinely staged on campuses across the South constitute choreography of exclusion.”

3D-printed semi-automatic gun: liberal anti-gunners heads exploding

I certainly had heard of the first 3D printed gun – which the State Department applied ITAR type regulations upon the uploaded plans to prevent their downloading.  Oops – 100,000 copies of that had already escaped into the wild.  Now, “next version” of that single shot, going to semi-automatic has come out (yes, new materials … Read more

Are you ready?

The weather last nite promised that the Dog Days of Summer were finally going to arrive here in NH; hot, hazy, humid pretty much all week long.  We’ve been lucky, IMHO, that we’ve had little of “heat waves” (e.g., 3 contigious days of 90+ degrees) for quite some time.  For a guy who waits all summer for February, this has been good news!  This week, however, not so much.  But in a couple of weeks, the weather will be turning nippier and I’ll be able to take out the air conditioners – and get ready for what comes next. I think this is great advice:

And shop the Amazon Emergency Prep Store. Plus, Emergency & Long-Term Storage Food Deals. When bad things happen, it’s good to have food.

Plus, Generators and Portable Power for Storm Season. Though the Insta-Wife was a generator-skeptic when we installed ours, a couple of outages have turned her into a believer.

I’ll add this – I remember the tremendous ice storm we in the North Country had here a few years ago and we were out of power for over 2 weeks – I promised myself and TMEW that we’d be better prepared next time if something like that happened again.

It’s Prez Poll Bingo time!

Yes, lots of polls.  Some important, some interesting.  Some not, but I like looking at them.  So I post some: Yes, a conservative site – but looking at who is top and the Establishment folks at the bottom.  That’s all I wanted to say.(H/T: The Blaze)

This Is Your Colorado River on EPA…

Your Colorado River on EPAI’m not going to opine (much) on this but this one thing.  Here is proof that government treats itself far better than us ordinary people doing the same malfeasance.  It says “Oopsies, sorry about that” when if this was a private company that deliberately dumped 3 million gallons of toxic pollution into peoples’ drinking water, you would have seen the C-suite officials hanging under the yardarm after taking every dime in their pockets – then throw them in jail.  Double standard doesn’t even come close!  A few headlines I’ve gathered pretty much tell all of the tale you need to know:

EPA SAYS: DO AS WE SAY, NOT AS WE DO

The only thing to do is to rollback the 1946 Administrative Law Act

From Son of Spengler, this observation that Administrative State (re: Bureaucracy) may now be the Republicans’ bane of existence even if they hold the House and Senate AND gain the Oval Office (emphasis mine):

In fact, Obama has not achieved his successes through formal, Constitutional means, but through executive agencies and the courts. Those democratically-unaccountable institutions are comprised of people who share Obama’s vision and have largely been happy to stretch the boundaries of their institutions’ power and the law. The only arena in which Obama has been obliged to persuade, cajole, or fire is defense; even there, a culture of deference to elected civilian authority has made Obama’s job fairly easy. Otherwise, he just rode the Federal Beast in the direction it already wanted to go. He has been able to spend his days golfing, while the media — a cadre of progressive activists — has been there to cheer him on.

Pander Bear

“New Hampshire women should not be forced to seek important health services from an organization that is immersed in scandal and currently being investigated by Congress,” Sununu wrote. “They deserve more choices and greater access to health care.”

Like I said, nationalize the student loan industry

And you get this: USA TODAY: Federal aid drives up college tuition. “The more federal grant money that’s made available, the higher the college tuition will go. High college costs are partly the federal government’s fault.” Bubbles, bubbles, bubbles everywhere – and it will only be the taxpayers that will end up taking the bath… $1.27 Trillion … Read more
