School Choice – it just works

Success Academy Posted Its Latest Test Scores. The Results Are Astounding. New York’s largest charter network outperformed traditional public schools in wealthy zip codes. And yet, uber-Progressive NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio has fought hard to decrease such choice.  So has NH Democrat Governor Maggie Hassan.  Guess they hate kids and love teachers unions. And hate … Read more

Well, then, now we know why the Sununus didn’t back WI Gov Scott Walker for Prez

Walker-APFor those of you readers that are unfamiliar with NH politics on the Right, the Sununu Family is one of the family dynasties that crop up in various states.  There’s always watercooler talk about such things and some said that they’d be backing Walker – methinks it is pretty clear, however, the clan is backing Kasich – certainly much more moderate / squishy than Walker.  Even if they had been leaning towards Walker, I bet this would have given them second thoughts; from The Blaze (reformatted, emphasis mine):

Glenn Beck said Republican presidential candidate Scott Walker “made news” on his radio program Monday by acknowledging that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) is “part of the problem” in Washington.  Beck said Walker could’ve been “weasely” and tiptoed around the issue, but he had a clear answer when Beck asked: “Will you go so far as saying that there are people in the GOP that are part of the establishment, like Mitch McConnell, that are part of the problem?”

Why no – I listen to those that want to KILL us.

Ted Cruz MicroInterview at TurbocamSmart guy, that Ted Cruz, as a lot of politicians and candidates will oft use a lot of words and never stick to topic.  They also dance around and never want to reveal what is actually going on.  Er, not Ted upon being asked about the Iran deal (and of course, the question is from a Democrat with a byline):

Several times you have mentioned that in international crisis you would seek the advice of military personnel, now recently there are three dozen former generals and admirals would say this is our only option to keep nuclear weapons from Iran. Are you going to listen to that letter at all?

Which is to say, “hey you rube, aren’t you going to listen to conventional wisdom from the Smart People? Cruz, in return, hands him his head:

Bernie’s “elevator pitch”…

“My elevator pitch is that the United States has a grotesque level of income and wealth inequality where the top one-tenth of 1 percent owns almost as much wealth as the bottom 90 percent, where almost 20 percent of our children are living in poverty, 40 percent of African-American children are living in poverty. Ye Old Periodic Table

From Ye Old High School Friend via Facebook. And I know “everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked.”

Notable Quote – Prof. Thomas Sowell (economics)

The illusion of investment is maintained by giving the Social Security trust fund government bonds in exchange for the money that is taken from it and spend on other government programs.  But these bonds likewise represent no tangible assets.  They are simply promises to pay money collected from future taxpayers.  The country as a whole … Read more

And this is why we can’t have nice things: Fergus “The Fringe” Cullen

FergusKool-Aid-01Why the Concord Monitor would ask Fergus “The Fringe” Cullen questions; he’s a nitwit that should not have been allowed to be within 100 meters (really, meters, Fergus?) of a reporter with a notebook or a recorder?  After all, this is the NH GOP Chair that suffered the WORST losses in the NH House and Senate EVAH! And the Party’s finances at the time?  And to date, has not been re-elected to the NH GOP Committee since being replaced as chair, by Republican voters, by Papa Smurf.  This dope is supposed to be considered “a political Smart Person”?

This was, what I thought, a decent piece on Corey Lewandowski who is now Trump’s campaign manager and I first met when he was the NH Exec Dir for Americans for Prosperity.  In it, we see that while he lives in ignominy, Cullen still tried to throw manure Corey.  Right, a verifiable loser throwing it at someone who has been verifiably winning:

Is the Abortion Cult Serious About Its “Choice” Dogma?

The abortion Cultists continue to predict end of the world scenarios for women’s health care if government does not force taxpayers to tithe to the 665 Planned Parenthood shrines across the nation.

But it appears as if this forced-tithing to their idol is unnecessary. There are an additional 13,540 locations across the country that not only provide comprehensive women’s health care, they offer services that Planned Parenthood does not, free of the scandal, outrage, and criminal investigations.

Are the Abortion cultists serious about their “choice” dogma? If so, let women know that they have choices other than Planned Parenthood. Or would that violate some, ‘No False Abortion Gods Before Us’ clause?

Dang, we shoulda made that list – at #241

I’ve never made it a priority to “write for the rankings” – I write for me.  I write because I like to on topics that are of interest to me – else why bother as no one is paying me to do it.  Ditto for the wonderful writers that volunteer their time and talent.  But when someone comes up with a ranking, I do look – just in case I could be surprised.

DougRossAlexaRankingsWell, Doug Ross over at Doug Ross @ Journal (aka http://directorblue.blogspot.in) has such a list – a ranking based on Alexa listings of the top right of center blogsites with those 300 top ones with Alexa global (not just US standings) ranking from 196 for FoxNews.com at #1 to astuteblogger.BlogSpot.com with a ranking of 1664275.

And no, we were not listed.  Shoulda though – for a state level blog in a very small state, our Alexa global ranking is 681,238.  Our US ranking is higher: 243,676 when I looked us up, so we could have ended up on that list at #241 (see image).  That’s with millions upon hundreds of millions in the blogosphere.  I guess we punch, very well, above our weight class – thank you, Readers!

A couple of other things I found out:

Amusing – what if the country DID split into two; Constitutional and Progressive?

A couple of snippets from Kurt Schlichter at Townhall of a “future history”.  Want a laugh?  Go read the whole thing:

“And to President Clinton,” President Abbot said into the camera, “I ask that you stop your threats of war and allow the Free States of America to separate in peace, and let our two nations remain brothers instead of enemies. Goodnight, and God bless all Americans.”…Now, the two dozen conservative states that had seceded a week ago had done it quickly, peacefully and reluctantly. After Hillary’s hand-picked Supreme Court majority started upholding her flurry of executive orders – she didn’t bother with legislation anymore – there seemed no other choice.

3D-printed semi-automatic gun: liberal anti-gunners heads exploding

I certainly had heard of the first 3D printed gun – which the State Department applied ITAR type regulations upon the uploaded plans to prevent their downloading.  Oops – 100,000 copies of that had already escaped into the wild.  Now, “next version” of that single shot, going to semi-automatic has come out (yes, new materials … Read more

Are you ready?

The weather last nite promised that the Dog Days of Summer were finally going to arrive here in NH; hot, hazy, humid pretty much all week long.  We’ve been lucky, IMHO, that we’ve had little of “heat waves” (e.g., 3 contigious days of 90+ degrees) for quite some time.  For a guy who waits all summer for February, this has been good news!  This week, however, not so much.  But in a couple of weeks, the weather will be turning nippier and I’ll be able to take out the air conditioners – and get ready for what comes next. I think this is great advice:

And shop the Amazon Emergency Prep Store. Plus, Emergency & Long-Term Storage Food Deals. When bad things happen, it’s good to have food.

Plus, Generators and Portable Power for Storm Season. Though the Insta-Wife was a generator-skeptic when we installed ours, a couple of outages have turned her into a believer.

I’ll add this – I remember the tremendous ice storm we in the North Country had here a few years ago and we were out of power for over 2 weeks – I promised myself and TMEW that we’d be better prepared next time if something like that happened again.

Fox News Prez Poll – the debate had an effect.

1,008 registered voters with a margin of error of +/- 3%.  Would like to have seen a higher number of those polled but it is enough for a quick review (Question 8): It certainly doesn’t seem to have hurt Trump much but it certainly gave Carson and Fiorina, the non-politicians big bumps.  And of the … Read more

A reminder: Planned Parenthood hates babies

From March 2013 – a precursor of the recent and horrible videos showing the actual outlook of how Planned Parenthood’s official spokesman at a Congressional hearing couldn’t have the empathy, the heart, the morality, to say unequivocally that a baby actually born as a result of a botched abortion would be saved by their medical … Read more
