An Open Letter to Hillary’s Supporters

crossroadsGuest Post by Jim Kofalt

Ever since the election, I have heard disaffected Hillary Clinton voters express shock and dismay over Donald Trump’s victory. How could this possibly happen? What on earth would lead half of the voters in our country to go the polls and vote for Trump?  How can I explain this to my kids? And what does it say about America?

If you are one of those Hillary Clinton liberal voters who just can’t fathom the idea of a Trump presidency, I’ll try to explain how this happened. But I’ll begin with a word of caution: you’ll only understand this if you can step away from your current worldview long enough to consider that the people who voted for Trump just might not be the hate?mongers, Neanderthals, and uneducated dolts that you think we are.

Nancy Pelosi for Minority Leader

pelosi
Hew Hampshire Democrat Rubber Stamps Carol Shea-Porter and Ann McLane Kuster can be counted on to choose Nancy Pelosi to lead the Democrats in Congress, and this is good. We want Nancy to continue to be the face of House Democrats in DC.

“[T]he [Democrat] party has hemorrhaged over 60 House seats in the past six years and has only been in the majority for two terms in the past 18 years.” The “smallest congressional minority since 1929,” according to Ohio Rep. Tim Ryan, who is challenging The Nancy for the job of House Fringe-Party Leader.

Democrats Can’t Win Elections Without…

From Matt Bai. The bottom line for Democrats ought to be this: You can’t really count on winning elections without persuading anybody of anything they don’t already believe. You can’t be a truly national party if you need 90 percent of a single minority’s votes just to be competitive (any more than you can be a … Read more

Who Stands with Wendy Davis on America’s Failed Education System?

Well, yeah, I lied! (Photo by Stewart F. House/Getty Images)

Townhall.com is reporting that former Texas State Senator Wendy ‘Abortion Barbie‘ Davis just insulted half the nation.

“Let’s face it, Republicans were rewarded by an undereducated electorate,” Davis told the Texas Standard, a public radio program, on Thursday. “And I don’t think it’s too cynical to say that the true right-wing conspiracy in this country is the undereducation of the populace. It has benefited them and it is not an accidental outcome.”

Matt Vespa produces compelling evidence that Wendy–who was going after Republicans–just insulted millions of Obama voters, but he never broaches what to me seems a more damning indictment.

Harold French Kicks Half-Baked Hosmer to the Curb (Again)

State Sen. Andrew Hosmer (D-Half Baked) lost his reelection on November 8th, and yesterday–during the recount–he lost it again. Our own lovely and talented Susan Olsen was there for the festivities, so perhaps she’ll share some insight, but for now we’ve got the Union Leader. Republican challenger Harold French of Franklin hung onto his narrow victory … Read more

Notable Quote – Arnold Kling

Profits are a measure of the sustainability of patterns of specialization. When a business that participates in a pattern of specialization earns a profit, the value of its output is greater than the cost of its inputs. That outcome indicates that the business is making a positive contribution to consumer well-being. -Prof. Arnold Kling ( Specialization … Read more

So, the GOP in DC decide to cut taxes and shrink government…..oh wait!

“The question we ask today is not whether our government is too big or too small, but whether it works — whether it helps families find jobs at a decent wage, care they can afford, a retirement that is dignified.”  – President Obama, Inauguration (2009)

NHGOPElephantHmmm, is it the case that I only have about 2 months left to be able to use the above?  Or is it an evergreen statement that’s a great opener for “Political Parties / Govt malfeasance” posts?   Need to noodle upon this for a bit.  Anyways, this is about the Republicans in the US House, just after a YUGE Presidential win based on a “Drain the Swamp” promise, making that swamp deeper and wider.

Yep – created a new tax and made government bigger.  Tell me again: why we should vote Republican, why we should Trust them, and how are they different than the Democrats? (emphasis mine, reformatted):

Monday night, the Republican-controlled House voted in favor of a tax on concrete to placate special interests in Washington D.C.

Provided yet another opportunity to expand the size and scope of government, the House of Representatives overwhelmingly passed H.R. 985, (here) the Concrete Masonry Products, Research, Education, and Promotion Act of 2015, a tax in all but name.

So, the GOP in DC decide to cut taxes and shrink government…..aw sheesh

“The question we ask today is not whether our government is too big or too small, but whether it works — whether it helps families find jobs at a decent wage, care they can afford, a retirement that is dignified.”  – President Obama, Inauguration (2009)

porkbustersStill thinking about the above but what the heck, is the GOP trying to repeal, replace, and become Obama??  And yes, I’m gonna “borrow” this logo from Instapundit because if this and that are any indication, it may get used a lot.

Sidenote: are the Republicans, now holding the trifecta royal flush in DC, going to be tempted by the same sins that the Democrats did in 2009-2010 – hubris? Are they already banking on this?

Another taste:

House GOP Weighs Proposal to Bring Back Earmarks.

One week after Donald Trump won the presidency on a promise to “drain the swamp” in Washington, House Republicans will vote on a proposal to bring back earmarks.

Some observations for why the election turned out as it did

I do wonder of the Left is willing to listen?  No, they won’t – they’ll chalk up the Prez loss to “bad messaging” (standard excuse) or BIGOTS, MISOGYNISTS, XENOPHOBES, JINGOISTS, HOMOPHOBES, RACISTS, CHRISTIANIST (add more adjectives as you see fit)!  But there are some people speaking to EXACTLY why folks voted for Trump and here’s a few the reasonings (reformatted, emphasis mine):

  • FLASHBACK: Peter Turchin: Blame Rich, Overeducated Elites as Society Frays. “Complex human societies, including our own, are fragile. They are held together by an invisible web of mutual trust and social cooperation. This web can fray easily, resulting in a wave of political instability, internal conflict and, sometimes, outright social collapse. . . . We now see the same forces in the contemporary U.S. Of about 30 detailed indicators I developed for tracing these historical cycles (reflecting popular well-being, inequality, social cooperation and its inverse, polarization and conflict), almost all have been moving in the wrong direction in the last three decades.

Remember When the Electoral College Was Great…Back on November 7th, 2016

The Electoral College was great with pre-election predictions like this…

You can’t get much further to the left than MorOn.org. They backed Bernie Sanders. They lamented the hijinks and backroom fixers that denied their candidate of choice for the Democrat Party nomination. But, in the end, they organized for Clinton. They pounded the pre-election pavement for the Hill-da-Beast because cheating is a virtue on the left whose rewards are the progress of progressivism.

But the predictions were not even close. Hillary, Obama’s legacy, the entire progressive experiment, everything the morons at MorOn.org believe got shown the door up and down the ballot. How could people who were so convinced they were so right be so rejected by so many in a majority of sovereign states?
