There is a water crisis going on in Cape Town, South Africa right now – they are expecting to run out of potable water in this city of 4 million people rather soon (a few months) and the Concord Monitor is both wringing its hands and bunching up its panties over it. Given the headline of this post, you can quickly devine what it believes the root cause it. They actually say what they are but then quickly shift to their ideological casting:
…There are many factors that contributed to the crisis in Cape Town beyond the drought, such as outdated water infrastructure, and poor population planning and crisis management. And it’s not like the whole mess came out of nowhere. Baker cited this April 26, 1990, headline in the Cape Times as proof: “City will run out of water ‘in 17 years.’ ” The math may have been off, but the warning was clearly not taken as seriously as it should have been. Now 4 million people find themselves preparing for a worst-case scenario scheduled to arrive on May 11.
Cape Town’s lesson for a world living under the increasing strain of climate change is this: waiting for crises to move from the horizon to the front door before acting is an expensive and potentially catastrophic failure of government.
Sadly, that is too often the way in this short-sighted world, from Concord to Washington, D.C., to Cape Town, South Africa.

The Commerce Committee report on HB 628 was inexpedient to Legislate. Kill the bill, they said. We don’t want to add dozens of bureaucrats and a mechanism to tax income in New Hampshire. But the 21 Republicans pictured above voted against the committee report. They saved the Income-tax built into the legislation. Without their “support” this tax is dead.
Decriminalizing marijuana sounds like is a liberty issue. Not so for Democrats.
Addressing the opioid epidemic is sold as an issue of compassion, but to the professional left, it is an opportunity.
Sex trafficking, repackaged and sold as a matter of freedom under the banner of legalized prostitution is not about freedom at all.
And the Progressive obsession with open borders and illegal immigration has nothing whatsoever to do with compassion, concern, or improving the life and lot of others.

The party of civility strikes again, and while this may not be as crass as expressing opportunistic glee at the death of a Republican, it fits the pattern of ingrained hostility that truly defines them as a party.
Tuftonboro selectman Chip Albee, a registered Democrat, referred to the “Moultonborough Taliban” when speaking about Republicans in neighboring Moultonborough.

HB 628, which has a tax on income built into it, passed yet another hurdle today when 28 Republicans voted in favor of taxing your income. No need to get into the issues with the bill again for the moment, but if you are new to this debate you can find them here.
Our purpose is to make you aware that (1) no Democrats voted against adding an income tax in New Hampshire, and (2) it could not have passed without Republican votes. Meaning, the threat of an income tax would have failed if they’d voted against it.

So, because Dick Devens hasn’t understood, can’t understand, and seemingly never will, he wants to change a vital part of our Representative Republic to take away yet another Check and Balance that was DESIGNED to have checks and balances. A funny thing happened on the way to the junkyard story in New Boston – the story disappeared from WMUR.
Set the “Way-Back Machine” for the second week in January when CNHT started helping John and Mona Winslow, owners of Duke’s Garage in that town. I went to meet them and was sitting in the kitchen going through court records the lawyer who abandoned them left behind when I was informed WMUR had just shown up with a cameraman.
If you know me and CNHT you know we stay away from the established media because…they never help.

New Hampshire law states that “political advertising” must be signed. In other words, if you are distributing materials that advocate for the success or defeat of a candidate or a particular measure, you need to state clearly and legibly who paid for it.
In early January, an unsigned flyer showed up in some mailboxes around our district making the specious claim that New Hampshire’s current school choice bill (SB193) “drains $3600.00 per pupil from the State education budget.”
Ironically, the headline on the flyer was “Say NO to Property Tax Increase.”
The unfolding by the minute attempted overthrow of a sitting president by the American news media and Democrats has been shy, so far, of the inevitable financial paper trail. We are linking people and emails right now.
But I did notice some interesting blacked out fields in a Fusion GPS expense statement a while back. Several payments were implied to have been made to “journalists.” These were redacted.

And miserable is the operative word. As many of you know, we’ve been having a number of trolls coming in lately. Now, I have no problem with those that disagree with me or other Groksters but it is clear that’s not why they are here. For years, I’ve had one rule for both authors and commenters:

It happens to be historical fact that the Nazis were the first political party in the world to have a wind power program. It also happens to be a fact that they were against meat eating, and they considered…it…terribly wasteful that so much grain went to feed livestock rather than to make bread. It’s also the case that they had the equivalent of fuel economy rules because they had the most expensive gasoline in Europe and so they basically had very few people driving cars…I think actually the most extraordinary thing that I came across was this quote from Adolf Hitler where he told an aide once, “I’m not interested in politics. I’m interested in changing people’s lifestyles.” Well, that could be…That’s extraordinarily contemporary. That is what the modern environmental movement is all about. It’s about changing people’s lifestyles.
