Putin put his nuclear assets on alert because they are potential military targets. The media and Democrats and whoever else you want to name have decided this means he’s ready to pull the trigger. Doubtful.
The goal was to seize usable land assets and eliminate perceived threats not make Ukraine uninhabitable. Oh, and the fallout would almost certainly drift across Russia. But that’s boring, and it doesn’t get clicks or sell dead tree press, so the conversation has taken a sharp left turn toward nuclear war.
As part of this transition, FEMA, CDC, probably even the IRS (how to file on time in the event of the nuclear holocaust) are emphasizing planning and readiness, and we can’t leave the COVID culture behind?
Ready.gov has a Nuclear Explosion page on which, well, read their advice for yourself. The emphasis is in the original. Highlighting is mine.
GET INSIDE
Get inside the nearest building to avoid radiation. Brick or concrete are best.
Remove contaminated clothing and wipe off or wash unprotected skin if you were outside after the fallout arrived. Hand sanitizer does not protect against fall out. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth, if possible. Do not use disinfectant wipes on your skin.
Go to the basement or middle of the building. Stay away from the outer walls and roof. Try to maintain a distance of at least six feet between yourself and people who are not part of your household. If possible, wear a mask if you’re sheltering with people who are not a part of your household. Children under two years old, people who have trouble breathing, and those who are unable to remove masks on their own should not wear them.
STAY INSIDE
Stay inside for 24 hours unless local authorities provide other instructions. Continue to practice social distancing by wearing a mask and by keeping a distance of at least six feet between yourself and people who not part of your household.
For whom is this guidance? Karens. No one else should remain under the allusion that distancing does anything (it never did), and we know masks don’t either (a fact CDC and others have recently admitted). Viruses like COVID are shared via aerosols that linger in spaces for hours or even days. Long after FEMA or the CDC tell you it’s okay to exit the Joe Biden Memorial basement.
And don’t forget that hand sanitizer does not protect against fallout. Very important.
Oh, one more thing. “Children under two years old, people who have trouble breathing, and those who are unable to remove masks on their own should not wear them.”
More here, if you can read it without stressing out.
Laughing out loud is permitted.
