That line above is from my blogging friend, Erick Erickson, who created it a few years ago in response to the Left’s constant “you are either with us or you are our enemy” activism. There was no middle ground that could be chosen.
There was no chance “to be left alone.”
Just a constant din of “if you don’t join us, we will come after you.” We now know this as the Cancel Movement. While it has mostly been fought in social media, it has been crawling out of its hole the last few years as the Left believes it has taken all of the High Ramparts of Culture sufficient to bully everyone else into doing as they say.
Wait, WAIT! Hasn’t it been the Left that has been behind the anti-bullying movement these last few years? Ayup, you’re right. And have YOU been paying attention to who they now classify as “bullies”? Obviously not – it’s YOU. It is anyone on the Right. And that cacophony will only get louder and more shrill as they see that this Cancel campaign, where you lose your family, friends, social groups, and job, is being more and more successful.
It is warfare by other means. They are enacting, even if informally, the Chinese Communists’ “Social Credit System” in that if you don’t behave according to THEIR rules, they slowly expel you, totally, out of “normal society.” What are we to think of Bank Of America when they canceled General Mike Flynn’s accounts and credit cards with the following reason:
“After careful consideration, we decided to close your credit cards on September 18, 2021 because continuing the relationship creates possible reputational risk to our company.”
Translation: you’re not OUR kind of customer. You’re a Conservative. Bernie-Bros everywhere were going “YESSSSS!!!” And then Flynn went public, and BoA went, “let’s reconsider our decision” because the PR backlash truly was a punch to a bully’s nose. The Bank of America’s Chinese Social Credit program withdrew from that field of battle. But what if it had been you instead?
Anyways, in long term ‘Grok friend JP Marzullo’s post on Town Reprimands Resident For Placing 13 Flags In Front of The Local Veterans Memorial, still rather new commenter TheRepublicofIndianStream left the following:
“….where I was reprimanded by the Selectman for placing the flags without their approval.”
Amazing; absolutely amazing.
First it was the masks that became political; then it was the vaccine, and now it is the men in uniform who died in Kabul that have become political.
The lines continue to be drawn: the Left shows no signs of backing down; only of making ‘a very bad situation’ worse.
John Adams said, in so many words, that the American Revolution was fought in the hearts & minds of men between 1765 and 1775 so that by the time Concord & Lexington rolled around in 1775 men had finally decided where they stood, one way or another.
I am convinced we are once again in a pre-Second American Revolution time frame in which man and women have already decided where they stand; are deciding now where they stand, or over-time will eventually be forced to decide where they stand.
The situation shows no signs of getting better: only of getting worse
It is going to get worse. Why?
As usual, the Left has been projecting, and we’ve been letting them – who REALLY is the Bully in all this? And who are those that have been making everything political? Yep, the Left. They have no concept of just leaving people alone. They are The Borg, or as Nitzkahon keeps saying, communist missionaries who only have one result in front of them – you. And your beliefs. Which to them should be your former beliefs. Because they don’t matter to them and are wrong anyways.
Just ask Bruce Currie. Don’t expect a straight and direct answer, though – it’s not his style.
But as TheRepublicofIndianStream puts it – have you decided, and WHAT have you decided? From my standpoint, it’s either The Borg or Freedom as the Left will give you no other choice.
