Notable Quote – “Property Is a “Powerful Antidote to Unfettered Selfishness.”

One of the Pillars of our American Constitutional Republic is that of the Right of Private Property. What is mine, IS mine – and not yours. Nor is it yours to take or to lay claim to it in any way.

Property sets up fences, but it also surrounds us with mirrors, reflecting back upon us the consequences of our own behavior. Both the prudent and the profligate will tend to experience their deserts. Therefore, a society of private property goes some way toward institutionalizing justice. As Professor James Q. Wilson has said, property is a “powerful antidote to unfettered selfishness.”

-Tom Bethell (The Noblest Triumph)

Socialists and Progressives reject this completely.

Everything that is yours should be “shared” with everyone even though you put in the work, the drive, the effort, and the know-how to acquire it.

THEY are the Selfish ones that want “something for nothing” even when they claim it is for someone else as with today’s Democrat Socialist humungous spending plans “to help the most vulnerable” and for infrastructure. A

All of that is going to have to be paid for and while these Statists are saying “here’s a present from us to you,” they won’t tell you it’s your money (your property) that they are plundering to do so.

Property goes way beyond “real property” of buildings and land. It really is everything that you own – and most importantly, yourself. Who owns you?  You? Or “The State” that continuously demands more and more of your life in order to do even more.

At what point do we become, not wage-slaves (as Socialists scream believing that it is unfair that people have to work to provide for themselves), but tax slaves (in which those same Socialists berate those of us who complain that our Property is continuously taken from us call us Selfish for simply possessing what we have?

NH Constitution:

[Art.] 2. [Natural Rights.] All men have certain natural, essential, and inherent rights among which are, the enjoying and defending life and liberty; acquiring, possessing, and protecting, property; and, in a word, of seeking and obtaining happiness. Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by this state on account of race, creed, color, sex or national origin.

I will tell you that NH-based Socialists hate this Article. How can one tell?

By how many times they try to take it away from you.  Someone that has Property is Independent of The State. So they wish to remove that property in order to create Dependency..

Co-founder of GraniteGrok, my concern is around Individual Liberty and Freedom and how the Government is taking that away. As an evangelical Christian and Conservative with small "L" libertarian leanings, my fight is with Progressives forcing a collectivized, secular humanistic future upon us. As a TEA Party activist, citizen journalist, and pundit!, my goal is to use the New Media to advance the radical notions of America's Founders back into our culture.
