Do you want to be in charge of your own economic choices, or are you in favor of others making those choices without your input? That’s really what’s at stake and what Friedman points out here.
Wherever the free market has been permitted to operate, wherever anything approaching equality of opportunity has existed, the ordinary man has been able to attain levels of living never dreamed of before. Nowhere is the gap between rich and poor wider, nowhere are the rich richer and the poor poorer, than in those societies that do not permit the free market to operate. -Milton Friedman ( Free To Choose)
Again, we see the Great Mind Fallacy. That the “Government” can equally “share” the riches of a nation which, by definition, means the Government reducing you to a mere cog.
There is no equality in this and you are expected to quietly accept that “equity” isn’t what they said. It is, instead, shared misery at the lowest common denominator for all.
Socialism and Communism believe that scarcity is something that can be managed and that people will accept that misery without complaint. Human nature isn’t wired that way so both of those political philosophies will always fail.
Yet, there are those that stubbornly refuse to accept that and will always rebut with “well, it’s never been done right”.
No, that’s the problem – it has been. They just refuse to acknowledge that with 140 years of its practice, it always fails…always. Yet, the Democrats are working as fast as they can to Cloward-Piven this nation economically to “crash the system” and then present themselves as our Saviors…
…more like our captors, truth be told.
