Honest to goodness – WHO do these teachers and their union heads think they are? They act like queens but they’re just our employees. But how much of a hassle have they given Parents over the last or so?
The Left is complaining that it is women, especially mothers (you know, not just “birthing people”) that the unions have forced to stay home because teachers wouldn’t go to work (but expected to get paid even as those mothers had to quit their jobs). Reformatted, emphasis mine:

The National Education Association on Thursday afternoon was awaiting a debate on whether it will demand vaccinations for all students and staff attending school in-person this fall.
“New Business Item 33” for the Annual Meeting and Representative Assembly for the nation’s largest labor union, which runs until Saturday, indicates the NEA “will call for mandatory safe and effective COVID-19 vaccinations and testing for all students and staff before returning to face-to-face instruction in the fall, subject to medical exceptions in accordance with existing law, and will widely publicize this position via social media. We will further call for and publicize that safety measures such as social distancing, masking, and proper ventilation be mandatory for all.”
The “Rationale/Background” for the debate reads, “COVID-19 has already killed over 600,000 people. Black and Latinx communities have suffered twice the deaths, and this inequality will deepen as variants spread. The pandemic respects no boundaries. We must fight for a policy that puts human life first.”
This is a GREAT reason for getting rid of Public Unions. No one elected them but they do make sure that they are electing those that control their contracts and paychecks – talk about “capturing your bosses” at the end of a pointy stick. Your job is to teach – not dictate terms of your rather weak teaching abilities (just look at the sorry state of standardized testing).

Parents are already agitating School Boards to drop the masks for their kids – imaging what the uproar will be if SBs decide to prostrate themselves (as they mostly do) to the unions. Look, if a teacher wants to wear a mask and can STILL be understood from the back of a classroom, fine. Let them wear a mask. But they aren’t in charge of our kids and that whole cohort of employees have got to start learning this or start to learn the ins and outs of the Unemployment Office and THEIR processes.
At what point do Union demands become a farce? At what point is enough, enough? A school district exists, not to provide jobs, but to properly educate the children of parents who are paying the bills. Unions are showing the rest of us, however, that they are entitled to all of what they get (which is rather generous, especially at the more senior levels) and now more.
Here’s a thought for all School Board members (at least those that want to DO something rather than being SEEN): if you are really telling the rest of us that “it’s for the children”, send a real STRONG message to the unions. Tell them “WORK or be FIRED – WE control the District, not you”. I’m betting that there are a whole bunch of us retired folks with far more meaningful and useful degrees with decades of experience that could teach those kids FAR better than a lot of those teachers. I’ll put my hand up: biology, computer science, math, history, political science – I’m a multi-threaded threat.
And I can promise you, none of this miserable, pernicious Progressive crap will ever be issuing from my vocal cords. No politics at all – just the real deal Three R’s attitude of making sure your offspring are getting the education you think they are instead of the indoctrination they are getting.
I guess the NEA really believes that they provide for Great Public Schools? Sure, look at what you’re doing in Detroit, just for starters…
