Gov. Ron DeSantis – “Florida got it right, and the lockdown states got it wrong.”

Florida Governor Ron Desantis is a serious contender and favorite for a GOP run for president in 2024, and he has his political response to COVID19  to thank for that. He not only did less, but he also kept liberal cities in Florida for doing more.

Related: Gov. Kirsti Noem: “COVID didn’t crush the economy, government crushed the economy.”

He ended state-wide lockdowns last May, opened up the state, and had abandoned limitations on how many people could congregate anywhere. No restrictions or mandates and,  The result, according to the doomers, should have reduced the peninsula – with one of the oldest populations in America – to an epidemic ruin.

Nope.

California, with all its abuses, was as bad or worse than FLorida. The moral of the story being that the only thing that matters was the freedoms your state stole and the lives ruined by the political response to COVID19.

In September, DeSantis signed an executive order banning mask mandates in his state.

  • No COVID19 order can prevent a person from working or operating a business.
  • Restaurants may not be limited to less than 50% capacity. Restrictions between 50 and 100% must account for economic impact and prove to the state some critical public needs.
  • The order nullifies all enforcement mechanisms for COVID19 ordinances.

He not only made Florida free, but he also made it impossible for the liberal enclaves to screw his citizens over for nothing. The people were free to decide how to address any concerns about how to respond—the reverse of states like New York, California, or Massachusetts.

Because, to quote Gov. Kristi Noem, another bright light in the GOP’s future and another chief executive who would not lay down before the false COVID God of the left and the media, “COVID didn’t crush the economy, government crushed the economy.”

But not in South Dakota or Florida, and neither state are worse off than the lockdownistan states and, in most cases, are much better from both a public health, mental health, and economic standpoint.

DeSantis spoke at CPAC about this, and it is worth watching and learning, so you get the details right. The makers and doomers are still out there, and you will be forced to engage them. Arm yourselves with examples.

Here are Gov. DeSantis’s remarks.

“Florida got it right, and the lockdown states got it wrong.”
