How Did Speech-Chilling HB1159’s Democrat Sponsors Vote This Past Week?

HB159 Wrestlin

Last year we told you about HB1159 which we labeled “Shut the ‘Grok Down” bill. That was because it was meant to shut down the ‘Grok (per the admission of the bill’s sponsor). Without rehashing all of the sordid details, it wanted to create a new protected class of citizens made up of solely elected representatives for the crimes of “Cyberstalking, Cyberdoxxing, and Cyberbullying.”

Most of the bill’s sponsors had received space on our pages. Rep. Jan Schmidt, Hills. 28;  Rep. Sherry Frost, Straf. 16; Rep. Debra Altschiller, Rock. 19; Rep. Wendy Thomas, Hills. 21; Francesca Diggs; and Nancy Murphy, Hills 21; for either saying or doing stupid things.

Who knew that simply sharing their actual words and opining on them, for as long as they kept on speaking, could be construed BY THEM to be Cyberstalking and Cyberbullying?

Fortunately, the other Democrats on the Committee rejected it ‘cuz First Amendment (good reason!) and for the “protected class bit” – bad optics.

Anyways, three of the original sponsors, Wendy Thomas and Nacy Murphy from Merrimack and Diggs from Grafton aren’t in the House anymore. But the others are still there.

Here are their voting records for this week’s “Session Days” (when the entire House votes on bills) for Feb 24-25.

Note: of COURSE, NH State Rep Edward “Ned” Gordon(R) wanted the born alive killed after the fact. That would be murder, right?
And I bet this vote was taken when all the Democrats decided to go running for the hills to keep the House from having a quorum to delay a vote on this (but failed).

HB349, allowing school nurses to have associate (community college) degrees rather than bachelor’s degrees. Passed.
97% of Democrats voted to Kill.
– Altschiller, Debra (D, Stratham) Kill
– Frost, Sherry (D, Dover) Kill

A Question: how well is Jan Schmidt (Nashua Alderman, NH State Rep) representing her constituents by not showing up? I understand her district is HIGHLY Progressive but are they going to stand for electing a No-Show?

Or would that question be considered to be Cyberbullying for comment on her actions – or actually, her refusal to DO her needful actions?
