Nashua Board of Education member Ray Guarino castigated former member of the Board Elizabeth Van Twuyver for her white privilege in an email sent from his Board email address.

Ray was responding to an email from Elizabeth criticizing the Facebook tirade by Board member Gloria Timmons that was directed at a group of Nashua parents protesting because their children are not being allowed to return to school after the COVID-19 shutdowns.
Ms. Timmons is black and Ray focused on race instead of the content of Elizabeth’s criticism. He concluded his email:
Elizabeth, you have been benefiting from white privilege all your life, one would have thought that at your age, you would have checked your white privilege at least once in your life, apparently not.
(By the way, if you are uncomfortable just using or hearing the expression white privilege, or think it is somehow slanderous toward whites, then you are likely someone who enjoys benefiting from white privilege.)
Ray’s email to Elizabeth was forwarded to me and I responded to Ray:
White privilege means that everything we have is based on a society built on exploitation of people of color. If you believe in white privilege, surrender your house to the indigenous people from whom you stole it, redistribute your wealth to BIPOC, and insist a member of a minority group take your position on the Board of Education.
Ray responded:
What you just wrote to me is complete nonsense.
As if you just told me the moon is made of green cheese.
I responded to Ray:
Surrender your white privilege and then we’ll talk about white privilege.
I haven’t heard back.
