This is a constant refrain from me – the Left is always trying to bastardize, redefine, and weaponize what used to be our common language to move their agenda forward. You name it, any word that’s now used in politics has a far different meaning to the Left than we Normals.

We all know that the MSM is both in the tank and serves as a mouthpiece for the Democrats and now the AP (Associated Press) makes it clear that since the electorate is now noticing what the BLM / Antifa rioters are doing to who they are supporting, something MUST be done about “our” language.
Control the language, control the possible thoughts expressed by that language.
So, when is a riot no longer a riot? Merriam-Webster:
a violent public disorder specifically :
- a tumultuous disturbance of the public peace by three or more persons assembled together and acting with a common intent
- public violence, tumult, or disorder
AP? I think these words cover it: obfuscate, Newspeak, hide the meaning, cover-up:
The AP dictates that “unrest” should be used instead of the word “riot” because it’s less “emotional.” The AP then points out how great the words “protest” and “demonstration” are because both words can technically refer to violent and peaceful gatherings alike and help gloss over the violence.
Just other words to use for the “Baghdad Bob-ism” of “peaceful protesters” with building fires behind them. So those two words are out – what else is on the shelf that can be now political abused? Oh, THESE!
Protest and demonstration refer to specific actions such as marches, sit-ins, rallies or other actions meant to register dissent. They can be legal or illegal, organized or spontaneous, peaceful or violent, and involve any number of people. (4/5)

Revolt and uprising both suggest a broader political dimension or civil upheavals, a sustained period of protests or unrest against powerful groups or governing systems. (5/5)

Can’t let the rubes what’s going on or they’ll vote for that hated Trump guy. Again.
And of course, we’re still completely objective about doing it.
