I was hoping that our resident Bernie-Bro commenter, Bruce Currie, would rise to the bait – and indeed, he has. I’d direct you to the comment section where Bruce, even as he derides our “whataboutism” does exactly the same thing.

And, adds the Progressive tool of deflection – never answering a straight forward question. In this case:
The operative question should always be: “Who Chooses?” You or someone whose decision you will have to follow? “Taxation is Theft” is but one answer to that question:
Jeff Bezos, the owner of Amazon and the wealthiest man in the world, would pay a one-time tax of $42.8 billion. Elon Musk, whose wealth has reportedly tripled during the pandemic, would be expected to pay $27.5 billion. And Marc Zuckerberg, co-founder of Facebook, would pay $22.8 billion in taxes.
Just for clarification – this isn’t the 70% income tax that would be paid yearly that the Socialists (Bernie, AOC) have thrown up (see what I did there??) in the past. This “windfall” tax is a tax on their wealth – not income. Wealth on which they have already paid taxes. But this is what Socialists want. Doesn’t matter if there is a pandemic or some other thing – it’s a crisis that isn’t to be wasted but to be exploited.
Actually, now that I reflect on it, AOC is quite happy that for every next marginal dollar the rich earn, they get to keep 10 cents. The government, for doing nothing, gets 90%. This is seen as retribution by Congressional Progressive Politicians who, for all their rhetoric, have an income (paid by the rest of us) that is 5 times larger than the US median income. That puts them into the top 5% of income earners on their Congressional salaries alone.
But I digress. Bernie’s plan would immediately take $100 BILLION of Private Property away from just three Individuals – is that the Proper Role of Government? Bernie thinks so (and so does AOC).
Bruce Currie is all set with it as well. As he puts it, it’s all for the Common or Public Good. Nice to see he likes to watch, as a public servant, a private sector person getting their ox gored. In fact, you can tell he’s in favor of it by the use of the verbal slight of tongue that Progressives use when talking about taxation; there are two words they use and Bruce uses one of them
Bruce Currie
Public investment in infrastructure for the 21st century is decades overdue. Their contribution will be greatly appreciated, and put to good use, rather than hoarded away or spent on real estate in Galt Gulch.
Nailed!

It’s always that Govt can (and should) spend someone else’s money for their own good (e.g., Socialist / Statists show that they NEVER trust people to spend their own money the “correct” way).
Contribution? This is always the euphemism that’s used (like “we’re asking that…”) – NO, it’s NEVER a contribution – it is always taken away by Govt under the threat of Force.
Bruce, you just proved our point with your line. So WHAT if they want to keep it for themselves – they earned it fair and square by providing stuff people wanted to buy voluntarily (instead of forced to by Government as in Obamacare). And you did it so blithely, as if taking $100 billion away from the owners was no big deal.
Yes, that is Theft by Taxation and in this case, sheer envious retribution against real success. They earned it and you don’t have the skills to do what they’ve done. Pure Envy.
The other word is “ask“. Both connote the idea that Government is being both benign and nice about taking more. Both words, in the Normal world (to which Bruce isn’t in), have the nuance that “NO!” is a perfectly acceptable answer. If I demanded a $100,000 from Bruce from his teacher’s pension, he could say exactly that.
That doesn’t happen with Govt at all as we all know but Bruce won’t admit to. As you can plainly see, he NEVER answers the question. He, and other Socialists, WANT you to believe that contributions, as in the private sector, are made out of the generosity of the heart. We all know that isn’t true – Govt will ALWAYS take what it wants – the overreach is there and Socialists like Bruce are the problem.
Instead of the Founders vision of holding up the Individual and protecting us from Government, Bruce wants Government to have what it wants regardless.
Bruce and Bernie are not just redistributionists – they are out for retribution as well. They just don’t want the money – they truly believe that billionaires are EVIL people even if the legal environment in which they operate was created by elected representatives like Bernie. After all, he’s had over 30 years in Congress and what has he accomplished? Accomplish nothing – take it from someone who is accomplished. Selfish Socialists both of them.
I’ll have more to say but I only got 3 hours sleep last night due to the dearly loved Grandson, so it is now time to, as the Democrats put it during their hectoring session with US AG Barr “reclaim my time”.
