How Are Your Electric Bills? Are they too low?

How are your electric bills? Heating bills? The cost of Gas? Are they too low? Isn’t it annoying when the government helps you to save money? Do you need help making those bills grow? Is energy independence for America a bad thing?

Should we be spending more money in the Middle East so they can export more Islamic terror? Well, wait no longer. Your favorite Democrats have teamed up to introduce a national fracking ban.

The AOC plus Bernie brain trust

That’s correct. New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez recently teamed up with Rep. Darren Soto of Florida in the House.  The bill was announced at the end of January. It functions as a companion bill to Senate legislation introduced by Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders and Oregon Senator Jeff Merkley.  Both of these bills would completely prohibit fracking across America by 2025.

These bills will put tens of thousands of Colorado oil and natural gas workers out of work whether they like it or not. The east coast politicians want to kill this industry. Their chosen euphemism is they want the workers to transition to other jobs. Can you say, “Would you like fries with that?” And no one is answering where the currently needed electricity is going to come from. They just want fossil fuels dead.

The Sanders’ plan is to eliminate the oil and natural gas industry by banning fracking and forcing those workers to find new jobs. This will kill jobs, lower our standard of living, increase the cost of power and fuel and it will make America dependent in the Middle East. Which parts of that outcome do you support? This is the state of Democrat leadership today. How are your electric bills?

We are going to save you from lower-cost energy and energy independence

These bills, if enacted, ban fracking within 2,500 feet of homes and schools by February 2021. “Fracking is destroying our land and our water,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted. “It is wreaking havoc on our communities’ health. We must do our job to protect our future from the harms caused by the fracking industry. That is why I am proud to introduce the Fracking Ban Act with @RepDarrenSoto today.”

In a statement, Soto declared that fracking poses a hazard to “our health, safety, and environment.”  “If we want to transition from fossil fuel emissions as we work towards building a 100 percent clean economy, pulling back from fracking is a critical first step… Failure to act will only make the crisis at hand even more detrimental for future generations of Americans.”

Accepting the false assertion…

Okay, let’s accept Rep. Soto’s false assertion. The first issue is what does it cost? Rep. Soto cannot (will not say or just flat does not know. When working toward 100% clean that does not mean it must be done immediately, all at once or in a manner that is harmful to people. Think about it.

Why does making laws about things not understood by legislators seem like a good idea? Have you ever heard the term unintended consequences? That’s what you get when you pass laws without understanding their impacts. It is great to have a goal but that does not mean we should legislate without understanding who wins and who loses, what is harmed and what is benefited.

As part of his presidential campaign, Sanders promised to eliminate fracking if he comes out victorious in November. Bernie is a millionaire. What does he care if your fuel and electricity costs go up? It won’t bother him one bit, now will it? It’s campaign rhetoric he means to carry out that will harm your economic well being. How are your electric bills?

Is there any science in this discussion at all?

American Petroleum Institute spokeswoman Bethany Aronhalt informed The Hill in a statement last month that a fracking ban could lead to an increase in household energy costs. “Banning a safe, successful method of developing energy would erase a generation of American energy progress and in the process destroy millions of U.S. jobs, spike household energy costs and hurt farmers and manufacturers,” she declared after the Senate bill was first unveiled.

Certain conservative organizations such as the Heritage Foundation argue that fracking has facilitated a cheap and safe energy boom. Look, all that’s being suggested is before you allow politicians to tank your budget do some homework… How are your electric bills? Heating bills? The cost of Gas? Are they too low?
