To their credit, Right Voter has lined up and rolled out some well know New Hampshire Republicans to endorse Steve Duprey for RNC Committeeman. And while Duprey may be a great guy (I don’t know him), his record on the Platform is not. Are his endorsers prepared to carry that weight?

For the record, we endorsed Chris Ager for that gig. I’m also on the board of the 603 Alliance, which also endorsed Chris Ager. In both cases, Ager is the stronger Platform Republican candidate. He better represents the interests of what the NHGOP claims matters.
Those things the grassroots expect its representatives, candidates, and committeeman to support and defend locally and nationally. So, what’s the problem with Duprey, and why should this concern the laundry list of establishment Republicans endorsing him?
It clearly defines the differences between Republicans on the ground (the roots and tips) and those up in the air (we’ll call them ruling class Republicans).
Skip outlined a few of the issues with Mr. Duprey here.
- Against the Platform: He’s given money to Planned Parenthood – and then backtracked that he “didn’t know” it was to be used against Republicans in political races.
- Against the Platform: He’s supporting Reaching Higher NH – an education advocacy group whose primary mission is to obliterate any challenge to Government-run schools (and the teacher’s unions that control them) and nullify attempts for Education Choice
- Against the Platform: not supporting traditional marriage, along with Juliana Bergeron, but being for gay marriage.
- Against the Platform: rent-seeking from the government on the issue of Government-run Paid Medical Leave which would create an income tax here in NH
- He called the TEA Partiers “Flat Earthers. “
- And I still have no idea what he meant about the 10th Amendment.
If you endorse him, you don’t just endorse this list. You endorse Steve Duprey scrubbing his twitter feed to hide those (and other) things he “supported” that could be an issue (in a contested race for the role of NH RNC Committeeman) with voting state party delegates. Things supported by the likes of Jennifer Horn, Bill Kristol, and even Democrat Carol Shea-Porter.
If Steve Duprey is such an outstanding example of New Hampshire Republican values, why did he have to hide his ‘values’ from Republicans deliberately?
You know, I give Democrats a lot of crap especially when they run away from their self-proclaimed issues or votes and refuse to defend them.
I give Republicans more crap because if I can’t rely on them to fight for what they say they believe in can I depend on them for anything at all? Is it all about money and parties, and who you know?
This reminds me of a post I wrote last week about the optics of Nancy Pelosi and her gold pens and silver trays for the impeachment articles signing.
Pelosi handed them out to rabid members of her party, smiling, laughing, and (more or less) exemplifying everything about the ruling class that got Trump elected in the first place.
All that somber solemnity was political theater. Lacking in any substance or conviction. That’s what I see from Duprey, especially with this Twitter business.
Now, I don’t expect you to agree with me on everything, nor would I demand it. Believe whatever you want, but for God’s sake, be genuine. Stand up for those ideas and defend them unless or until you are convinced to change them. Then explain yourself and support the new position. It matters, and we can see that it does.
Chris Ager is attracting grassroots pro-liberty activists. The folks who don’t make excuses for defending the platform or constitutional limits on the ruling class. Duprey is hiding his positions, which are more indicative of the ruling class Party swamp-rats.
You can support that, but now you have to defend it.
