Mike Bloomberg … Benevolent Fascist

This:

Not a dictator? Xi had his rubber-stamp National People’s Congress change the Chinese Constitution in 2018 to make him President for life. (Formerly Chinese dictators … oops, I mean Presidents … were term-limited (two five-year terms), with the Communist Party naming their successors.)

And Xi is not just a dictator; he is a tyrannical and often barbaric dictator as well. According to Human Rights Watch:

Authorities dramatically stepped up repression and systematic abuses against the 13 million Turkic Muslims, including Uyghurs and ethnic Kazakhs, in China’s northwestern Xinjiang region. Authorities have carried out mass arbitrary detention, torture, and mistreatment of some of them in various detention facilities, and increasingly imposed pervasive controls on daily life. …

… The government maintains tight control over the internet, mass media, and academia. Authorities stepped up their persecution of religious communities, including prohibitions on Islam in Xinjiang, suppression of Christians in Henan province, and increasing scrutiny of Hui Muslims in Ningxia.

Authorities increasingly deploy mass surveillance systems to tighten control over society. In 2018, the government continued to collect, on a mass scale, biometrics including DNA and voice samples; use such biometrics for automated surveillance purposes; develop a nationwide reward and punishment system known as the “social credit system”; and develop and apply “big data” policing programs aimed at preventing dissent. …

It’s hard to believe Bloomberg is unaware of all this. It appears that he’s willing to look the other way because he believes that government should have unlimited power to pursue what government considers best for “its” people.

Here is Bloomberg explaining that high taxes are good for poor people because government can spend their money much more wisely than they can. “When we raise taxes on the poor, it’s good because then the poor will live longer because they can’t afford as many things that kill them.”

So good to know that Chairman Bloomberg … oops, I mean President Bloomberg … has our best interests at heart. Such a benevolent fascist.
