Representative Ann Kuster has been doing a lot of lamenting on her Facebook page (of late) about the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) and its lack of passage. A problem she has been putting squarely in the president’s lap.
The status update link is from the Hill.com,
A leader on the letter, Rep. Anne Kuster (D-N.H.), said the hardwood industry in her home state and across the country has been hit hard.
“Hardwood is a critical part of our forest products economy, and large and small producers alike need access to Chinese markets in order to sustain their businesses,” she told The Hill in a statement on Wednesday. “Although there are hurdles in this process, I remain committed to working with the Administration and colleagues from both sides of the aisle to provide essential tariff relief to this industry.”
USMC’s initial signing ceremony was on November 30, 2018. A trade agreement that, if I understand correctly, includes matters directly related to the hardwood industry. BUt as Kuster laments the USMCA not getting a vote in the House she has supported impeachment FOUR times!
Efforts that have gone into inquiries and other non-productive witch hunts that could have been put into hundreds of other more productive and less partisan activities that didn’t smack of political persecution!
Sure, Trump is to blame.
But wait. The Washington Times reports that it is Nancy Pelosi who is gumming up the works.
Both parties want this modernized version of the North American Free Trade Agreement to pass. It is the legacy of Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton. But this latest modernized trilateral trade deal for North America hasn’t happened yet because of an endless parade of stall tactics by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
She is blockading a vote of the 435 members of the House of Representatives. The odds are very favorable that Democrats and Republicans would provide enough yays to pass it and move it on to the Senate, where the trade deal would be approved by a wide margin. The whispering campaign on Capitol Hill is that Pelosi is worried about giving Donald Trump a “win,” so she’s inventing flimsy excuses for endlessly delaying a vote.”
That’s interesting. Ann Kuster told 60 Minutes, “I have so much respect for her (Pelosi), and it’s this combination of courage and grace.”
Is she courageously or gracefully holding up USMCA? Inquiring minds want to know. According to Rasmussen, sixty-eight percent (68%) of likely U.S. voters think Congress is unlikely to seriously address the most important problems facing our nation (like hardwood?)
This poll shows the highest level of public cynicism for congress since 2006.
Fifty-one percent (51%) rate Congress’ job performance as poor. And don’t go blaming the Trump Supporters for this number. Forty-five percent (45%) of those who strongly disapprove of how the president is performing agree that congress is doing a poor job!
While Annie Kuster is publishing Facebook posts that follow Pelosi’s party line and blame President Trump.
You know, moments before Kuster praised Nancy Pelosi on 60 Minutes, she said, “She’s the first person in my life that has scared the heck out of me.”
Clearly, Kuster is too scared to stand up to Pelosi to say stop stonewalling, let’s get the USMC up for a vote!
I guess we should have caught on when Kuster later told 60 Minutes of Pelosi, “Trust me, you don’t want to cross her.”
Clearly you have no issue crossing the people of New Hampshire.
