US Senator from NH Whose Senate Office Got Hacked Advises Strafford County on Cyber Security

Maggie Hassan met with Strafford County officials regarding a recent cyber-attack on their computer systems. Senator Hassan, if you forgot, had her own Senate office hacked last year. I guess that makes her an expert.

Every keystroke in the office was being beamed across public wi-fi for some unknown amount of time. The result of keyloggers set by Jackson Cosko who, with the help of another Hassan staffer, Samantha DeForest-Davis, used that access to dox Republican Senators.

Hassan’s appearance in Strafford must be reassuring.

“We need to invest in resources that allow there to be information-sharing between and among the private sector, federal government, state, local and county government,” said Hassan.

She is, after all, “a member of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.” Which means what? That some of the data hacked from her office could be related to Homeland Security.

Reassuring indeed.
