Is it ironic that a professional tax and spend politician has announced a plan to redistribute another $63 Billion to combat a problem that only exists because of a Democrat President and her sycophantic support of his priorities?

New Hampshire Senator Jeanne Shaheen has a plan. Not to stop the drugs from coming into the country. That would be racist or xenophobic, or something. She opposes all that border security mumbo-jumbo. But get this, her legislation is called “The Turn the Tide Act.”
She does not mean the tide of government growth and spending. Nor can she possibly (with a straight face) mean the tide of drugs and gang members pouring in to distribute them.
“The substance use disorder epidemic is not only the worst public health crisis in our state’s history, it is also the most persistent,” said Shaheen. “Hundreds of overdose deaths a year in New Hampshire cannot become the norm – we have to continue battling this epidemic until we’ve turned the tide and the federal government can be doing much more to help hard-hit states like ours.
We’re saved.
Just imagine how lucky we are to have Sen. Shaheen to spend our money. And who agrees that this is destined to be as successful as the war on poverty? *We’ve spent close to 25 Trillion on that over five decades for nothing! Poverty as of 2014 was more or less right where it was in 1966. This won’t be any different.
But spend we will if she gets her way. And not because the Democrats truly care about the addicts. Well, not the way you think. They care about the government infrastructure and wealth that can be directed toward the problem they represent. Their own addiction. Just the war on poverty. The government is here to help, the Federal government.
If it weren’t Shaheen’s plan would give job creators tax breaks or credits for supporting local or state level programs. That would be giving back. Local control. Local solutions at the source of local problems. Instead, her plan takes your money, job creators money, and launders it through her machine in DC. It feeds her real constituents. Bureaucrats, swamp rats, and the new opioid epidemic pigs lining up at this shiny new trough.
“This crisis is constantly evolving, which is why I’ve incorporated feedback into this bill from treatment providers across the state who say they need flexibility to use federal funding to treat patients using drugs other than opioids, like meth and cocaine.
Trump wanted a few billion for a wall to stop (or at least slow) the unimpeded flow of drugs into the country. A legitimate Federal purpose. Shaheen wants to spend 63 billion on treatment while opposing Trump’s effort to stop the flow of drugs. Because the potential illegal immigrant ‘Democrat’ voters – Political power – are more important to her party. And why should they care ? Just like poverty they can easily assuage their guilt by throwing a few billion dollars of someone else’s money down another hole. All while continuously pushing policies that punish “the poor.”
It will be the end of all of us. All, except the political class. They’ll be fine.
