New Hampshire Democrats and Antisemitism

This:

By way of context, Ilhan Omar had issued this and other antisemitic tweets:

Omar’s antisemitic tweets were condemned from both sides of the aisle. This is from Nancy Pelosi:

“Anti-Semitism must be called out, confronted and condemned whenever it is encountered, without exception,” the statement said. “We are and will always be strong supporters of Israel in Congress because we understand that our support is based on shared values and strategic interests. Legitimate criticism of Israel’s policies is protected by the values of free speech and democratic debate that the United States and Israel share. But Congresswoman Omar’s use of anti-Semitic tropes and prejudicial accusations about Israel’s supporters is deeply offensive.

“We condemn these remarks and we call upon Congresswoman Omar to immediately apologize for these hurtful comments.”

In the face of all this criticism, Omar apologized, sort of:

I say “apologized, sort of” because Omar did not take the antisemitic tweets down, and she continued to attack AIPAC:

… By also doubling down on her attacks on AIPAC in the same statement as her apology, Omar reminded us that the core of this dispute wasn’t merely a slip of the tongue or a moment of anger while at the keyboard. Far from being sincere in her desire to avoid future hurtful exchanges with Jews, Omar reiterates the policy positions that are driving such disputes. It is her deliberate attack on the right of supporters of Israel to speak up in this country and the right of Israel to exist that is the problem, not her learning curve about the history of anti-Semitism.

Further:

… so long as Omar and Tlaib continue to support BDS and Israel’s elimination, their talk of not wanting to hurt the feelings of Jews is utterly disingenuous. … Those who grant Omar and Tlaib absolution for a well-worded apology while ignoring their continued support for an anti-Semitic policy are giving credibility to a cause that deserves none.

Frost went beyond giving Omar absolution for her apology. By saying she “stands with” Omar, Frost was saying she supports BDS and Israel’s elimination.

Former State Representative Victoria Sullivan called out Frost on twitter:

One of the leaders of the New Hampshire Democrats came to Frost’s defense:

K-Sullivan did not attempt to substantively defend the indefensible. That is, she did not attempt to defend Frost “standing with” an antisemite who believes the State of Israel should not exist. Instead, K-Sullivan engaged in “whataboutism,” attempting to distract from Frost’s support of antisemitism by discrediting V-Sullivan.

At best, K-Sullivan is willing to tolerate Frost’s antisemitism in her Party. At worse, she “stands with” Frost.

As far as I know, no New Hampshire Democrat has criticized Frost for “standing with” Omar. They too, at best, are willing to tolerate an antisemite or, at worst, “stand with” Frost.

Finally, the complicity of the local press bears noting. There has been zero coverage of this. Does anyone for one second believe that if a GOP Representative tweeted that he stands with Steve King, the local press would not have immediately called that Representative a white supremacist and demand that every elected GOP official denounce him or her?
