“Equality” and “Diversity” are polar opposites in the real world. Difference and sameness do not coexist the way the cultural Marxist Kitchen suggests.
Not even on the Social Justice Plantation. Add (to borrow from Adam J. MacLeod) students enslaved to their appetites and feelings, and Boom! The snowflake meltdown blast radius is proportional to the area of the campus culture squared.
In recent years, we’ve had several examples—Mizzou, Evergreen, Oberlin, and elsewhere. UNH had a sombrero riot. Over at Keene State is was the pumpkin festival riot. All ‘Indigenous’ populations of hypersensitive crybabies inculcated in the false virtues of Cultural Marxism. And they are taking colleges and universities with them when they blow.
The most desperate example of this is Evergreen. They lost their minds—held hostages. And years later, the little college that could can’t. They’ve lost 50% of their enrollment from two years ago.

Much like Keene State, Evergreen is packaging the decline as something expected. This suggests they planned to lay off teachers, fire staff and even cut back on public use of its facilities. We saw this coming and…what? Let the lunatics run the asylum for a few days.
For the free earned media! And look, your decline was accelerated. Congratulations.
At Keene, after suffering budget realignments and unanticipated decruitment, they called it right-sizing.
Keene State College continues to have enrollment issues. But on a positive note, they’ve made that problem (sort of, kind of) go away by renaming it. The perennial decrease has been relabeled. The ten percent of staff the college had to buy out to avoid firing them outright can rest easy knowing they were ‘Right-sized’ out of their jobs.
Right-Sizing? Don’t You Mean Left-Sizing?
Keene’s problem started with the Pumpkin Festival riot, but the impact of those optics are the same.
Keene State accumulated significant debt when parents and students (without any warning) started the ‘right-sizing’ of Keene State after the campus riot in 2014. They stopped applying—fewer students, less tuition money. Less money, without adjusting costs, equals more debt.
We know that right-sizing is a lie because, in the same breath, the campus culture commanders blamed the State legislature. I’m not an expert on these matters, but I don’t think the State House is responsible for enrolling college students at local universities.
Not to worry. We have Democrats writing the budget this year. They will include plenty of bailout dollars so that Keene State can pay administrators and teachers more to teach fewer and fewer students.
Just like public K-12 schools.
They are training future drifts of snowflakes so the colleges and universities can focus on more important learning.
Like how to write a resume when your job as a professor of Left-Handed Albino Lesbian Studies gets right-sized out of existence.
Who am I kidding? The engineers and economists will be the first up against the wall.
