Surprise! – Ann Kuster Backs Nancy Pelosi for Speaker of the House

I’d like to say we told you so and I will. Ann Kuster is backing Nancy Pelosi for Speaker of the US House. Kuster was always going to do that. We told you that. The Negon campaign told you. And when it came time to choose, Kuster did exactly what we said she would.

Kevin Landrigan, writing at the Union Leader has the quote.

“Nancy Pelosi has proven her effectiveness as a leader by protecting and strengthening access to healthcare for millions of Americans and I believe that experience is critical as we work to bring down costs and improve quality of care. We must continue to stand strong against efforts by this administration and congressional Republicans to undermine access to healthcare and focus on improving the ACA for all families in the Granite State,” Kuster said.

“We have a tremendous array of experiences and perspectives in our caucus and new voices will be an important part of our leadership. I will carefully consider the candidates for all leadership positions. I do believe the institutional knowledge and experience of leader Pelosi will be valuable as we transition to the majority and will pave the way for the success of future leaders of our party.”

Ann Kuster’s seniority makes her eligible for any number of subcommittee chairmanships. Landrigan notes that eligibility and suggests she’s probably looking for more. Something that Speaker Nancy Pelosi is more likely to provide by inference than new leadership? Without a doubt.

Irony Alert

A significant percentage of voters in Kuster’s district felt it it was time for new blood. They thought Ann Kuster had been there long enough. Probably because of her commitment to the old leadership.

What about Ann Kuster? She’s on team-Pelosi. Over forty percent of New Hampshire voters think it’s time for a change in NH CD-2.  Annie gotta go. So, why aren’t there any young Democrats challenging her in the course of ensuring the House has that New Leadership Smell come January 2019?

Congressional District one had nine candidates in the Democrat primary. Young Democrats. Congressional District two had Ann Kuster. No new leadership smell.

Knowing it was a negative Kuster refused to commit to Pelosi because she knew it would cost her votes. CD-2 sent her back and she’s all-in for the Nancysaurous. No one around here is surprised.

You’ll also recall that she ran on her bi-partisan record. A record we refuted repeatedly with evidence. Ann Kuster is statistically more partisan than Nancy Pelosi. Expect her as both Congressional Rep and Subcommittee chair to go back to being who she always was. A far-left rubber-stamp for Nancy Pelosi’s Left-Coast agenda.

Not that you will not get to ask her about it. You won’t see her much. Until it’s time to run as a “bipartisan” for the US Senate in 2020. Assuming ‘bi-partisan’ (cough-cough) Democrat Senator Jeanne Shaheen finally retires.

One more Irony alert. Kuster’s “success” in 2018 was not possible without out-of-state funded groups like NexGen Climate getting the vote out at colleges in places like Plymouth, Keene, and Hanover. Young voters. Young Democrats. New Democrats.

Out-of-state money getting new Democrats to keep old Democrats in power.
