US President Ronald Reagan (R-CA): “Government exists to protect us from each other.  Where government has gone beyond its limits is in deciding to protect us from ourselves?

NH State Rep. Kris Roberts (D-Keene):  “Government has to protect us from our own stupidity.”

One takes the attitude that Citizens are stupid and must be herded – security and safety is only to be found within Government’s surrounding embrace.  The other believe that it is Politicians that are stupid.  One says that there are no limits to Government action, other other sees clearly defined limits.

One recognizes, implicitly, that the Constitution is a document that is supposed to scream “STOP!” when necessary.  The other speaks as if a Constitution doesn’t exist – that anything is possible.

What say you?

Co-founder of GraniteGrok, my concern is around Individual Liberty and Freedom and how the Government is taking that away. As an evangelical Christian and Conservative with small "L" libertarian leanings, my fight is with Progressives forcing a collectivized, secular humanistic future upon us. As a TEA Party activist, citizen journalist, and pundit!, my goal is to use the New Media to advance the radical notions of America's Founders back into our culture.
