But who needs a Dad when Government gives you permission to literally screw up!

Ugh.  Like I said,in order to have their political jones satisfied, Progressives / Socialists / Marxists / Communists have understood for decades that they have to unmoor the American public from their traditional values in order – and in this case, a most important – Parents authority and responsibility.  Here’s a quick story that chops at a number of those anchor points all at the same time.  From Philly.com via  The College Fix:

Students as young as 14 in Philadelphia will soon have access to unlimited free condoms, courtesy of the city government. And while parents will be able to “opt-out” by sending a letter to their child’s school, administrators have made it clear that they will not monitor or restrict access to the condoms, even for those students whose parents have signed “opt-out” letters.

In other words, if your child attends high school in Philadelphia, then the government has taken control of your 14-year-old’s access to birth control, and there’s nothing you can do about it.

And this is why I have said that Conservatives have got to get back into the schools – it is there that the cultural tide that is wrecking our nation and which we saw this last election has its fount.  So here is a policy, set by a democratically elected administration, that thinks it is just great to lie to the parents of the kid in their care. WHY bother to send the ‘opt-out’ form is it is only going to be thrown out and out-right ignored?

“Opt-out letters are to be maintained by the school office,” Assistant Superintendent Dennis W. Creedon wrote. “Students are to honor the wishes of their parents. If a student disrespects their guardian’s directive, that is an issue of the home.”

Umm, what can be done about a Government that disrespects a parent’s wishes.  Oh wait, that would be…..NOTHING!  That statement is nothing less than a stick in the eye to parents that may well be trying to teach their kids traditional values – keep it zipped, don’t start, it’s wrong and at 14 years old, you are not ready for an act or a relationship meant for older (and hopefully, wiser) adults.  Really, “an issue for the home”?  Sure it is – but Philly has taken it away and made it a Governmental policy.  What is the moral lesson that Government is teaching those skulls full of mush? Oh yeah, that old hippie 60s crap of “free love” and “love the one you’re with”; it’s simply a time of physical exertion – just like recess.  Let’s extend the hook up culture downward from college to the high school and jr. highs – after all, the dole is there to socialize the bad decision (or is that an Obamabortion?  After all, nobody is supposed to be “punished with a child”, right?).    Like that’s worked out so well.  Parents may be teaching the kids self-restraint – and the schools are teaching “pedal to the metal” (or is that wardrobe on the tiles?”).

I am sure that they, the Philadelphia Governmental Elites, know what they are doing, though.  Or, maybe not.  Ya think that this just MIGHT be Government trying to fix a previous problem that they helped to cause with their libertine and non-judgementalism (unless of course, you’re a parent – then you have already been judged to be of no consequence)?

…The [condom] dispensers will be placed in the 22 high schools whose students had the highest rates of sexually transmitted diseases, and condoms will be available to any student – so long as their parents did not sign a form opting them out of the program.

It’s a pilot designed to address “an epidemic of sexually transmitted disease in adolescents in Philadelphia,” said Donald F. Schwarz, the deputy mayor for health and opportunity. Since April 2011, the city has given away about four million condoms, and now, STD rates are falling.

…But, Schwarz pointed out, 25 percent of new HIV infections in Philadelphia are teens, and that’s a major worry.

So, even with Government providing “health resource centers”, there’s a huge problem?  I thought that, in listening to all the “Progressives” that think that abstinence is Neanderthalic in argument, that all one had to do was teach “science based sex education” (hey, let’s have fun with condoms and bananas in class today!).  One in four HIV cases – a teen? How’s that working out fer ya?  Or an even more important one – why isn’t it working out for our kids?

Notice that nothing is said or asked “er, maybe this be because of our policy that teens are ready for sex (as I am SO tired of the argument that we humans are only as good as animals: animals have no self-restraint, right?  They have no sense of right or wrong, right?  Have these chuckleheads not thought that a red condom pressed into the hand of a 14 year old boy is like the Grand Marshall at the Indy 500 screaming “START!  YOUR!  ENGINE!”.  Green light this kid’s behavior- whose hormones have all but taken over.  What is HIS culture saying to him?  Listen to their music.  Watch the videos.  Monitor the TV (what was that…oh yeah, MTV glorifying teen aged moms) shows.  Nope – it’s more akin to “YO, Teach!  Thanks for the keys to the sex car”!

So, we have this action in Philly and Massachusetts where a court decision has stated that parents are unable to keep their kids out of class when objectionable material is being taught.  Look at the fight here in NH over parental notification for a minor having an abortion – the Government wanted no restrictions on being able to bring a young girl to have a major procedure (except “Here she is – she’s yours, again (at least, until the next time)”).  And a new law has been filed here in the New Hampshire House to do away with the tax credit to allow low income parents choose the school that is better for their kids than what Government has given to them by fiat (it is NOT about “it’s for the kids” – it is for the teachers unions that are wild-eyed scared that, Oh.My.Gosh, would have to compete for parent’s choice to choose them).

When does it stop?  When will you MAKE them stop?

The College Fix ends their post with this:

We don’t think government bureaucrats should be giving birth control to 14-year-olds in direct defiance of parental consent. Philadelphia officials are effectively saying, “Go to hell,” to any parent who insists on being involved in his or her 14-year-old child’s health choices. And we find this dismissive attitude towards the rights of parents deeply troubling.

Yeah, me too.  But as I have posted here on the ‘Grok before, more and more, the Educational-Industrial complex (e.g., teachers) believe that the kids belong to them and that parents are dumb and behind the times.  Did I also mention stupid?  And that they, the teachers, truly know what is better for the kids, dontcha know?

The Bigger the Government, the smaller the citizen.  Even smaller, the parent.  I hate to break Godwin’s Law, but I remember somebody else saying something about “having the children”….

And you wonder why I am for school choice?
