Quick thought on a line from Obama’s political hack, David Axelrod

David Axelrod on Meet The PressOn Meet The Press, David Axelrod had this to say about Romney and Bain Capital:

His philosophy suggests that his emphasis is on creating profit for himself and his partners and his investors and not creating jobs.

Er, that would be right.  Socialists believe that the primary role of companies is to supply jobs.  Progressives believe that they also exist to be proxy social service organization (re: mandated benefits by government decrees).  David Axelrod falls into both camps, apparently.

And he’d be twice as wrong.  Companies exist for one and only one reason (and not to be “socially responsible” either) and that is to make a profit for its owners.  Period.  Benefits started out to be alternative ways to attract good workers starting when the Feds enforced wage freezes – and now this hack wishes distort the marketplace again by redefining, for mere campaign purposes, what companies are supposed to do: by forcing them to give out jobs?

Oh, right! That’s  how his boss,  Obama, thinks that the US economy works too – by mandating companies to hire people:

…but companies have a responsibility to invest in the nation’s future by keeping jobs here, hiring American workers and paying decent wages, President Barack Obama says.

“They should set up shop here and hire our workers and pay decent wages and invest in the future of this nation,” he said. “That’s their obligation.”

He’s wrong too.
